“Printin’ Like a Pro: A Redneck’s Tale of Tech Triumph”

“Well, butter my biscuit and call me a tech genius, this here printer done took me by surprise! I ain’t never seen a contraption work this dang good. It’s faster than a coon dog on a hot scent and quieter than a church mouse on Sunday. The first time I used it, I thought it was broke ’cause it ain’t make no noise! I was expectin’ a ruckus like my ol’ pickup truck, but nope, it just hummed along like it was singin’ a lullaby. And let me tell ya, the prints are clearer than a moonshine jar after three rounds of washin’. I printed a picture of my cousin Earl’s mullet and you could see each and every glorious strand! Now, if you’re lookin’ for a printer that don’t need no fancy pants degree to operate, this is the one for you. I ain’t no city slicker, but I got it up and runnin’ in no time. Just plug it in, hit the button, and watch the magic happen. Only thing is, it don’t come with no possum-trap setting, but hey, can’t have it all, right? So, if y’all need a printer that gets the job done without any fuss, get yerself one of these bad boys. You’ll be happier than a pig in mud!”

DO NOT BUY!!! Toner costs are insane! Every month to a month and a half.

This was a first laser printer because we were tired of ink cartridges but this is way worse!!! The toner sensors is jacked even though there is powder in the toner the printer won’t allow printing and there is no override to tell the printer there is still toner you must buy more toner cartridges regardless of how much toner remains. I called brother and there is nothing they can do. It does print well but be aware the operating cost of this machine is insanely high!!! For a $500 printer and $300 monthly on toner it is worth buying a different brand printer that will allow printing until the toner is empty and prints blank sheets is worth it if you can find one doing research now.

The Best

I had an HP AIP color laser and for 6 yrs. it produced high quality prints but the software was a constant pain in the ass and printing was often impossible due to it resetting one or more details in software. Previously I have had 6 Brother monochrome lasers and never had a bit of trouble. This beauty has been installed for a week and it’s great quality, quieter than the HP, prints effortlessly, scans beautifully, copies even many 2 sided pages and manuals very straight and clean. Software is very stable (unlike HP’s, which was always in need of fixing somehow). Support is better and live chat useful.

Tired of the inkjet grind?

While this printer might be overkill for my small home office, I was tired of buying cheap hundred-dollar inkjet printers, then throwing those away in a couple of years because they really are cheap printers.

Not this guy though. This is a substantial well designed multi-function. It actually takes up less footprint than my old inkjet, prints faster, doesn’t jam, has a paper tray that holds more than 50 sheets, doesn’t scream at me about proper shutting down procedures after a power blip. and most importantly I don’t have to buy outrageously priced ink for it, that clogs up the jets making you run a clean cycle to clear them out, wasting even more overpriced ink.

I wouldn’t want to use this printer for much more than a home office, or maybe a small professional office, while it would be capable of printing off hundreds of pages a day, I’m not sure how it would fare to that much work. For a home office or small business though? I couldn’t recommend this thing enough.

5 full stars, no reservations, quality printer.

Lots of features and worth the money.

Lots of features and they don’t really talk about some of them . I am in IT so I found them. It has 2 separate email gateways so you can be on any computer in the world and send your printer a print job via email. Of course it has smart phone apps for printing and they work great as well. You can also easily use the ADF to scan multiple documents that will convert them to pdf format and then send them out via email. Another positive is that Brother print drivers typically work much better and do not give trouble like some of the other brands. Once I install them they normally keep working. I have them installed on 2 macs, several windows machines and a Linux machine. Color quality is good but not quite as good as the 10K Xerox machines at work. But they are fine for our needs. 3780 does NOT fax from Apple Computers – verified

My brother L3780CDW printer came damaged in the box. After MANY calls with Brother, they exchanged my printer. The fax machine works manually, but I found out after many more calls with Brother that they no longer support faxing from Apple computers – for at least the last 3 operating systems – so for several years. Crazy that they don’t state this in their sales literature for this fax/printer and that it took multiple customer service calls before they figured this out. Disappointed.

Uses So Much Ink!!

The Print Quality is Great… The Scanner works great… The only BIG issue…. INK!! I only print addresses on envelopes… a very thin handwriting font in blue… I don’t print photos… I don’t print QR Codes… I don’t even print pages of text… only addresses in a very thin hand writing font – only in the shade of blue! The envelopes come 500 to a box. I can’t get through 2 boxes of envelopes without the printer running out of ink! All 3 colors… I replace the ink… print 200 more envelopes and then the printer shuts down wanting Black ink too. I think this printer was only made to use as much ink as possible. This makes no sense… I print around 700 addresses and the printer shuts down wanting more ink. I’ve owned this printer a couple of months – and I’m on my 3rd complete set of inks. The Ink costs around $300 ish per pop! Brother is getting rich selling ink for this machine – and the only color I use is blue — and the addresses use very little ink on the envelopes. I’m worried the printer has an issue and one of these days all the ink that must be building up inside the printer… Worried it will all spill out on to the floor… Other than that… I have no idea where all the ink goes…. because I’m printing / using very little ink on the envelopes…. My old HP printer doesn’t do this…. If I printed in Blue – the HP printer would only ask for Blue ink to be replaced…. not all 4 cartridges… If I had this to do over again… I would have bought another HP printer…

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WIN7 (Windows 7)

After reading the Amazon listing in detail and then going to the Brother site to review the detailed specs for this printer before ordering it, all I could find was that it was compatible with “Windows.” I assumed that included Win7, since until very recently there were still millions of folks using that. Probably there still are. I am one of them.

I must admit it never occurred to me to go to the Brother “support” site before I bought the product to look for additional restrictions on the printer’s compatibility. (Don’t you normally need support AFTER you have a product lol?)

I note that the lower model 3770 does have Win7 compatibility, and tried to load that software, but was unsuccessful.

I really hate doing returns of 50 pound products.
