HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Thermal Inkjet Printer

It only took me a few minutes to get the printer connected to my Mac and other apple devices. Just went to the HP site and downloaded the right driver software. Was a breeze. Haven’t had the printer for long but was easy to set up and does nice printouts. Plus, I signed up for ink coverage and pay a small monthly fee. That way I don’t run out of ink and HP monitors when I need some more ink. The unit was a little bit bigger than expected but still fit nicely in the space that I had.

This an all-in-one printer can print, scan, copy, and fax documents. It’s super easy to use and fast while still being very quiet. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is a good option for your home or even a small office. It’s also relatively compact and lightweight, making it easy to fit on a desk or shelf. It comes with 3 months of ink also!

I found the set-up process to be extremely frustrating. I had to get help from the chat feature and was online for almost an hour before the printer was finally set up. It also seems to print much slower than my HP Envy printer, which finally died after over ten years of problem free printing.

Unboxing and removing tape in the various places is a breeze. Going to app or URL on computer and you get walked through the setup process. Connecting via Wi-Fi, and loading paper is straightforward, and the cartridges snap in in the usual fashion. Then the printer aligns the cartridges and prints a test page.
If using a PC, install software, and you can even opt for automatic ink shipments based on print quantity; can use USB or android app, or Apple Air print.
The control panel is small, but colorful and will display quite a number of functions. There is also a top feeder document feeder.
I did some document printing, and it seemed the printer spooled up just a little slower than my other printer, but the print quality was exceptional. Scanning was perfect, and again quality was good.
Then did a high quality picture on plain paper and just normal quality, and even that came out well. Based on this rudimentary test, I am sure on photo quality, and photo paper, printing photos would turn out great quality. I highly recommend as a cost effective home or home office printer.

When this printer works, it works well. Print is clear and colorful and for an inkjet printer, it is pretty fast. It prints pages with just text just as fast as a laser jet. It is also nice and compact, and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Other than that, though, there just isn’t a lot that is good to say about this printer.

Setup was not easy. It took a while to get it all connected to my wifi router (ASUS GT-AX11000). I have a Dell laptop and I ended up using the HP Smart software to get it connected. It took three tries for it to find the printer and connect it. Once it was set up, it worked well enough. I printed a couple of sample pages with text and everything went well.

The next morning, I sent a small document to it and it took a full two minutes to warm up before it even would print. This involved a lot of print head moving noise, like it was self-cleaning. Eventually it did print.

I mostly print from Apple devices. I have an iPhone, MBP, and an iPad. It just doesn’t handle these very well. Yesterday I tried to send a document from all of my devices and the Dell laptop and none of them could connect to the printer at all. They just weren’t seeing it as an available device. I went to the printer and tapped on the screen a few times and it did not wake up. So I pressed the power button and it would not shut off. It was completely locked up and my only option was to unplug it and plug it back in.

This really does feel like a product that is not ready for prime time. I assume that these are issues that can be fixed with software patches, but something that can’t stay on for a week without completely locking up just isn’t a very good product.

I have purchased and set up a number of printers. I bought the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer to replace an old OfficeJet printer that I had for more than five years. Unfortunately, this printer is a huge disappointment. First, the HP Smart app pushes you to secure the printer with a password. However, the app times out before a password can be set so you need to keep going back and finding the pin label that is inside the printer. Second, printer frequently refuses to wake from sleep mode so you need to manually turn it on to get it to print. Lastly, the printer doesn’t work well with iOS so printing from an iPad is next to impossible. All in all, I thought was upgrading but I would have been better off just keeping my old OfficeJet as it worked with iOS. I would not recommend this printer or any HP printer since the app is the same for all.

This printerbputs out quality copies. However you spend more time trying to update it, if it even does update. You can’t print anything until you have it completely updated either. Horrible operating system that doesn’t make any sense. Why would a printer need updates every 2-3 days?

To start off – The HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e produces crisp documents and vibrant photos, the printer relies on a complex interplay of physical and chemical properties to deliver wonderfully clean and punchy pages.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e was an awesome experience from the start. It had easy to follow yet comprehensive setup instructions. This has to be the easiest to set up All in 1 I have ever installed. My first 2 impressions were –

FIRST – less than 15 minutes from box to printing.
SECOND- It was ALL wireless! – and this is in an area saturated with 30+ routers that I can see in my WiFi list.

HP recommends quite strongly that you should setup wirelessly. I am impressed.

HP inks feature great viscosity and other droplet properties including the following;
Great Surface Tension: influencing spread, dot shape, and drying time.
Excellent Lightfastness: Crucial for photos and archival documents.
Good Waterfastness: With resilience to water splashes or spills.
Nice pH Balance: Ink acidity can affect both paper longevity and printer components. Balanced pH ensures compatibility and prevents corrosion or paper degradation.
High Optical Density: This relates to the ink’s ability to absorb light, determining color intensity and overall print quality. Higher optical density equals bolder, richer colors.
Droplet Size: Delivering fine detail and smoother gradations, without misting.
Optimized Droplet Velocity: For controlled penetration, spread, and drying time.
Droplet Placement Accuracy: Precise placement ensures sharp lines and accurate color representation.
It uses what I would call “standard size ink cartridges including a high capacity Black that is available”. I think they will work well over time without gumming up.
