Who Should Buy?

The HP LaserJet Pro 3001dw is suitable for users who require a reliable and cost-effective monochrome printer. It is ideal for home offices or small businesses that primarily print documents and need a printer capable of handling light to moderate workloads efficiently. The printer’s fast print speeds and high-quality output make it an excellent choice for those who need clear, professional-looking documents. However, prospective buyers should be prepared for a potentially challenging setup process, particularly regarding wireless connectivity. It is also recommended for users who can manage with limited color printing needs and are comfortable with some technical troubleshooting.

Do Users Recommend This Product?

User recommendations for the HP LaserJet Pro 3001dw are mixed. Those who recommend the product highlight its reliable performance, cost-effectiveness, and print quality. They appreciate the printer’s efficiency and durability, especially for monochrome printing. However, many users express reservations due to the challenging setup process and persistent connectivity issues, particularly with wireless networks. While the printer delivers excellent results when operational, the difficulties experienced during installation and use can detract from the overall experience. super easy to set up on a Mac and/or PC

I setup this printer to use wirelessly. It was a straightforward and easy setup. I print from my Mac, my Lenovo laptop, and from a windows RDP on my Mac. I also can print from my iPhone or iPad.
I did not have to call tech support. It was a simple and easy setup. I set it up on my Mac first then the PC.
What I do find annoying with this printer, is that I have not found a way to permanently make single sided printing the default, so I do have to remember to choose simplex printing.

If you have a Mac, do not buy!!!

This is a new model printer. It would not set up wirelessly I went to customer service and after waiting quite a long time finally was able to talk to a tech rep. She spent 45 minutes trying to get it linked up wirelessly through many many different variations, and it did not work. Finally I had to get off to go to another appointment and will try again tomorrow. An hour and a half of my time wasted. I’ve had a Mac since 1985 and I am very knowledgeable about computers. The set up for this was a total nightmare. avoid at all cost

Does The Job

I’ll put it this way: I’m 70 and bought my very first Apple B/W 600 dpi printer in 1993 for $1,600.00. Ergo, this HP printer, for the price currently listed, certainly seems reasonable to me! Print quality is very crisp and clear. WiFi connection is strong, and pages print very quickly. Keep in mind, it has no scanner, fax or copier capabilities. I.e., it’s a bare-bones B/W printer at a fair price, IMHO.

It is not a double side page printer you need to feed back the papper. Also WiFi setting is a mess.

This printer does not print double-sided, you need to manually put the pages back in the tray and hit the resume button. I think this is a false advertisement. Also, Wi-Fi Setting is a mess. It is really a pain in the neck. Do not buy if you’re looking those features, you will suffer a lot.

Don’t buy

I bought this to use as a Wi-Fi printer – have spent 4 hours trying to get it to connect/work and no success.

Nothing good about it

Setup was an absolute nightmare. Like others have said, the Wifi couldn’t find it when it was sitting near several other items that were picked up by the Wifi. I had to download a “problem solver” app to get it to work, that app screwed up my other printer, and now I can’t print duplex with it. After weeks of wrangling with this printer I finally just plugged it into a network plug with a Cat cable and finally got it set up to use on the network. The first time I went to use it, it broke and can’t pick up paper and thinks it’s out of paper. Absolute waste of money. Total piece of garbage.

Initial thought - impossible to connect to WiFi

So far spent 30 minutes trying to connect printer to Wi-Fi. The HP “Smart” app finds neighbors printers but not this one. Will use a USB cable for now.

Very frustrating. My old HP M203dw connected in a matter of seconds!

I will update this posting once I have connected the printer or returned it!

Good printer with not so good wifi.

Wifi system is difficult to establish connection. Printer 10 feet from router and won’t recognize it. Easy to hard wire so don’t need wifi so the printer works very well without wireless connection.
