Summary of Customer Reviews
The MSI G274QPX 27″ 240 Hz Rapid IPS QHD Gaming Monitor has received a wide range of customer reviews, which highlight both its strengths and some drawbacks. Overall, most users are impressed with the monitor’s performance, particularly for gaming. The high refresh rate (240 Hz), combined with the QHD resolution, provides sharp visuals and smooth gameplay, making it a popular choice among competitive gamers and those who enjoy AAA titles. Many reviews praise the vibrant colors, sharp images, and the monitor’s responsiveness, especially in fast-paced games. However, some users have encountered issues, particularly with dead pixels and certain manufacturing defects like backlight bleeding.
Positive reviews often mention the great value for money, given the advanced specs of the monitor. However, some negative reviews point out concerns with quality control, such as dead pixels out of the box or after a few months of use, and occasional technical issues like flickering lines on the screen. Despite these issues, a majority of users recommend the product, particularly for gamers on a budget looking for high performance at a reasonable price.
PROS
- High Refresh Rate: The 240 Hz refresh rate delivers ultra-smooth performance, particularly beneficial in fast-paced games like shooters. A user mentioned, “It makes every game that much more immersive, or playing a competitive game like Apex.”
- Vibrant Colors and Sharp Display: The IPS technology ensures vivid colors and sharp images. One customer wrote, “Text, videos, pictures and anything you can do is super sharp, and the gaming performance is spectacular.”
- Minimal IPS Glow: Many users commented on the minimal glow, a common problem in IPS panels. A user noted, “This monitor has very minimal IPS glow and great colors out of the box.”
- Excellent for Competitive Gaming: The combination of 1440p resolution and 240 Hz makes it ideal for competitive gamers. One user said, “It’s a solid contender for esports players on a budget seeking super-fast performance.”
- Customizable Display: The monitor offers significant customization options, allowing users to tweak the settings to fit their preferences, especially in terms of color calibration.
CONS
- Dead Pixels: Multiple users reported encountering dead pixels, either immediately upon receiving the monitor or after a few months. A common sentiment was, “The monitor came with one dead pixel. You would think that would make a defective monitor, but NO.”
- Quality Control Issues: Some users noted inconsistent quality control, including scratched screens or stuck pixels upon arrival. Another customer stated, “The panel on my monitor had two stuck pixels that didn’t resolve themselves.”
- Backlight Bleeding: A few reviews mentioned noticeable backlight bleed, particularly when the brightness is turned up in dark environments. A user said, “There is a little bit of white glaring in the bottom right.”
- Flickering Issues: Some users experienced technical issues, like horizontal flickering lines or ghosting after a few months of use. One review shared, “This monitor flickers with a row of dead/white pixels every few seconds.”
- Limited HDR Performance: While the monitor advertises HDR support, several users found the implementation to be lacking. One review highlighted, “The HDR implementation is underwhelming, lacking the dynamic range of true HDR monitors.”
Who Should Buy?
The MSI G274QPX is best suited for gamers who prioritize performance and responsiveness. Its 240 Hz refresh rate and QHD resolution make it ideal for competitive gaming, especially in fast-paced games like first-person shooters or esports titles. The vibrant colors and minimal IPS glow also make it a great choice for users who enjoy immersive, high-quality visuals. However, if you’re a user looking for the best HDR performance or if you’re particularly sensitive to manufacturing issues like dead pixels, this might not be the best choice for you. It is particularly recommended for those who are on a budget but still want a high-performance monitor for gaming and general use.

Best bang for your buck 240, and it’s not close.
Of course, one or even two bad reviews can really deter a purchase, especially with as watered down as the gaming industry products have become, but this monitor is pretty good. I had bought a few 1440p 165-170hz monitors, and I have a setup that can push the limits, so I was beginning to wonder what the difference between seeing 165 fps to 240 fps. Well, it’s incredible. Especially something like cyberpunk, with DLSS on and getting 190-220 “frames.” It just makes every game that much more immersive, or playing a competitive game like Apex. What really took the cake is the lack of ips bleed. The monitor I had that this one beat out was the Gigabyte m27q x. Both have great color and contrast for an IPS, but the gigabyte had a strong glow on the lower right that was just driving me nuts, especially with dark terrain and such being on the lower side of pictures. This one has two very small and almost unnoticeable bleeds on the top left and right, but I’ve got to view a black image to notice is. Color is great, picture is great, and the refresh rate is beautiful.

Ah, the MSI gaming monitor—aka the window to the virtual world of victory! It’s so sleek, even your grandma might mistake it for a spaceship console. The refresh rate? Faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer. The colors? More vibrant than your gaming avatar’s personality. It’s like having a portal to pixelated paradise, where every frag is a high-five from the gaming gods. Just be careful not to get lost in there—you’ve got snacks to eat and bosses to defeat! 🚀🎮

MSI G274QPX: Esports Prowess with Budget Finesse (But a Few Bumps in the Road)
The MSI G274QPX charges onto the scene as a 27″ 1440p 240Hz esports monitor, aiming to deliver lightning-fast performance at a budget-friendly price. But can it compete with the big leagues, or is it just a pixelated pretender? Let’s dive into the arena and see!
Pros:
Blazing Speed: 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time ensure buttery-smooth visuals, even in the heat of the most intense competitive games. Goodbye, motion blur, hello, pixel-perfect precision.
Sharpshooter Resolution: 2560×1440 (WQHD) resolution provides stunning detail and clarity, letting you spot enemies lurking in the shadows or masterfully aim down sights.
FreeSync & G-Sync Compatible: Eliminate screen tearing and stuttering with support for both FreeSync and G-Sync, making it future-proof and adaptable to various graphics cards.
Versatile Connections: HDMI and DisplayPort inputs cater to a variety of devices, while a built-in USB hub adds convenience for connecting peripherals.
Ergonomic Adjustments: Tilt, swivel, and height adjustments allow you to find the perfect viewing position for maximum comfort during marathon gaming sessions.
Cons:
HDR Hiccups: HDR400 implementation is underwhelming, lacking the dynamic range and vibrancy of true HDR monitors.
Color Calibration Quirks: Factory calibration could be better, with some reports of slight color inaccuracies, although adjustable settings offer room for tweaking.
Backlight Bleeding: Some users experience minor backlight bleed in dark areas, though noticeable only in specific circumstances.
Limited Software Tweaks: The control software could be more robust, offering less granular control compared to some competitors.
Plastic Build: While functional, the plastic construction might feel less premium compared to metal-clad rivals.
Verdict:
The MSI G274QPX is a solid contender for budget-conscious esports enthusiasts. Its lightning-fast refresh rate, high resolution, and compatibility with both FreeSync and G-Sync make it a valuable weapon in your competitive arsenal. However, mediocre HDR implementation, color calibration quirks, and a slightly flimsy build hold it back from achieving top-tier status.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Should you buy it?
If you’re an esports player on a budget seeking a super-fast 240Hz monitor for competitive gaming, the MSI G274QPX is definitely worth considering. But if you prioritize top-notch HDR performance, advanced color accuracy, or a premium build, you might want to explore other options.

Horizontal lines appearing while gaming/blinking dots in middle of screen
After using this monitor I started to experience random horizontal lines whilst gaming and very fast lights flickering in the middle of my screen. MSI has not conducted good QC for their products and they don’t even include a VESA adapter mount.

This is it!
I upgrade from a Dell 2716DG 1440p 144hz TN display. The colors and contrast are a very noticeable upgrade, and I get more enjoyment out of my PC now. Particularly videos and AAA cinematic games. In competitive games, I notice less of a difference because the jump from 144hz to 240hz is more subtle, and colors and contrast matter less.
I didn’t calibrate anything, I only adjust the brightness if I am gaming at night in dark room. I would recommend turning the brightness down from the default 70% to 0-20%, otherwise the IPS glow is very noticeable at a higher brightness in dark scenes in a dark room. This is not a fault of this unit it self, it is just inherent to the IPS technology. Something I am getting used to from a TN panel. Reducing the monitors brightness in this instance helps immensely, it is almost unnoticeable bellow 10% brightness, and still plenty bright when in a dark room.
If you are coming from a TN panel to any IPS panel this is what you will experience, and not a reason to not give this 5 stars. Certain LG displays have an A-TW polarizer, which is supposed to minimize IPS glow, but they are also much more expensive. And if you are spending that much, why not go OLED?
Edit: After 3 months I have a distracting stuck pink pixel in the center of my screen. Changed 5 star to 4 star.

Good value but mine came with 2 stuck pixels
The specs on this monitor are great for the price and the picture quality was great. That being said the panel on my monitor had two stuck pixels that didn’t resolve themselves after doing the typical troubleshooting, so I returned it. Aside from QC, it’s definitely a monitor I’ll take a shot on again.

Gamer teen son loves this
He did all the research and chose this for Christmas. He was looking for something with 240hz and 1440p with good color. There was another monitor on his list that he said was slightly better, but it was not discounted and he said it wasn’t worth the extra $100 (price difference at the time). His official review right now as he is playing with his friends is “it’s soooo pretty”, which I think means it passed his test.

Not great but just alright
Finally received my item and I am fairly pleased with it! For the price it’s a good monitor!
HOWEVER it arrived with 2 dead pixels which is quite annoying and also feels quite CHEAP! Probably going to stick with BENQ in the future. This is probably my last monitor purchase from msi

Came in with a dead pixel
I think the overall monitor is great deal for the price but it did come in with a dead pixel… I’m not sure if MSI will provide a replacement.
Disappointing for out of the box product to be already damaged.

Not real HDR
Great monitor for the price. $380 for 1440p @ 240hz is a great deal. I upgraded from 1080p. The visuals are great. I have an AMD graphics card, and I like the colors. I feel Nvidia has better color options. So I’m excited to try out a different GPU. Overall a good buy.
