Some users have also noted that third-party toner replacements work well, providing an option for those looking to reduce operational costs.

However, some customers find the toner replacements to be costly, with some stating that the cost of a full toner set is almost as much as a new printer. Others mention that the setup process can be complicated, particularly when configuring advanced scanning or network settings. A few users have also experienced issues with sleep mode, requiring manual intervention to wake the printer. There have also been some concerns with customer support, with mixed experiences reported by users trying to resolve setup and maintenance issues.

  • Complex Setup for Advanced Features: Some users struggle with setting up scan-to-email and network configurations, requiring extra time to configure properly. Several mention having to consult online forums or Canon support.
  • Sleep Mode Issues: A few users report that the printer does not wake up automatically and needs to be manually activated. This can cause delays in printing tasks if not addressed.
  • Heavy and Bulky Design: Some users note that while the printer is feature-packed, it is relatively large and heavy, requiring adequate desk space.

Compared to previous models, users report that the print speed has improved, and the duplex scanning feature is now more efficient. Additionally, wireless connectivity is more stable, making it easier to print from different devices. Some users mention that Epson EcoTank models offer lower running costs due to their refillable ink tanks.

🎮 Is This Product Right for You?

This printer is ideal for small businesses, home offices, and professionals who need high-quality prints, fast speeds, and efficient scanning. However, if you’re looking for low-cost toner replacements, this might not be the best choice. If space-saving and portability are priorities, smaller models may be better suited.

Do NOT recommend if you use AirPrint

When my Epson printer died, I went searching for another printer and, now sadly, landed on this Canon.

I will say I love the quality of the prints. That however is my only like.

My biggest frustration is that it only will print from AirPrint maybe 10% of the time. I cannot even express how annoying it is to have a printer of this value that literally won’t work. It’s just maddening.

What does it do? I’m glad you asked. If I wake up the printer first: The printer will show as an available printer, I’ll select print, and it’s like the printer never received it. Absolutely no response. If I don’t wake up the printer first, it won’t even show as an available printer.

There is a Canon Print app however it is incredibly clunky to use and won’t print webpages that have a “print” function built into the page (like many recipes). Not the level of functionality I’d expect from a company like Canon.

Another annoyance is that even when printing from a computer, if the printer is asleep, it won’t start printing until you wake it up. That may not be a big deal if it’s within hands reach however if it’s in another room, sending items to print, going to wake up the printer, and then either standing and waiting or walking away and the coming back depending on the job size is just frustrating. Again, not what you’d expect from a printer of this price range.

I will say the owners manual is huge however it’s difficult to navigate and I haven’t been able to find any help within it.

If you are very knowledgeable on Canon products, perhaps you’ll be more successful at getting it working as one would expect. If you don’t have that knowledge, or don’t want to mess with that, i would not recommend this printer.

Do not buy!!!

I bought this printer less than a year ago, I’m still using the starter toners. It jammed. Not a big deal, right? WRONG!!!! There was no paper to be found to unjam the thing, I’d have to take a screwdriver to it to find the paper jam. I called Canon and they sent me a replacement. Fine. I hooked up the refurbished machine they sent me, it immediately jammed. I was able to find the jam and remove it. But then the toner drawer was stuck and it wouldn’t open unless I took a screwdriver to the thing, so it wouldn’t print. Called Canon again. They sent me a second replacement machine. Just hooked up the second refurbished replacement, and lo and behold, it jammed on the first page I tried to print. And just like the first printer, there is no paper to be found unless I disassemble the thing.

On the plus side, Canon has trained their reps on how to handle hot-heads like me. The reps do a good job, they’ve walked me off the cliff both times I’ve had to call. Of course, I managed to hook printer number three up and get the jam error at 7:50pm on a Friday night, and service shuts down at 7:30, so now I have to wait until Monday to get any help.

I’m exhausted and cranky and sore from dragging these printers into my house, lifting them in and out of boxes, and digging for jams. My hands are cut and bruised. My biceps are getting toned. And I have printers stacked up in my foyer like cordwood. Not sure how I’m going to get them in my car to take to FedEx for their return to canon so some other fool will be shipped one of these “refurbished” pieces of junk in lieu of a printer that actually does what it is supposed to do.

So…print quality is really good. When it prints. Customer service is good. When they are in the office. PRINTER IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!! Who designs a printer that can’t be unjammed without disassembling the machine?!?!?!?!

Dazed and confused and hoping the printer gods are kind to me on Monday when I call Canon again. I need a glass of wine and a bandaid.

Great office like features for home all in one printer!

Recently, my Canon mx922 died due to head printer being clogged and was looking for a printer that could replace it. Replacement head cost more than $100 and was not guaranteed that it would work. I hated the fact that inject printer always takes forever to print due to cleaning or getting ready to print and using ink to do that. It actually cost more ink. I did not want to get another inkjet due to those reasons.
I print about 50 pages per week and do multiple scanning. I should get about 2 years before buying a replacement toner. This printer is by far the best investment I could have done, not only it prints double side and scans double side on a single pass but the quality of the prints are amazing. I know ink jets produce better photo quality but if I need to print pictures this is by far the closest to it. I decided to get this one because if I don’t use it for a while I am not scared that the ink will dry or clogg the print head.
The size is perfect for my home office, and love the color and looks.
Features, it took me less than 10 minutes to set it up and star printing. I use a mac so please download the software as it has more features to scan and print. You can print without installing the software on iphone but you can get more if you install it’s softwate. The set up the scan to email took me awhile because you have to use the printer UI website to change it’s settings and then you can add email addresses that you can scan directly to them. On YouTube there are videos for the mf743cwd that apply here to set it up.
It goes to sleep mode after a minute if you don’t use it and that’s great to save energy.
Touch screen is beautiful, very responsive and good size.
I don’t plan to use the fax but that’s a feature there if you need it.
I wanted to buy the HP M479fdw but by far is more expensive and has less features. The canon mf751 lacks single pass scanning off this mf753cwd. I am glad I went with this one instead of the HP.
Just buy it.

Much better than anticipated

I upgraded from a perfectly good 5 year old Officejet HP 7740. I figured I was probably wasting money with this purchase but now that I have the printer, I can say it definitely was not a waste. This thing can spit out 10 sheets before the HP even completes both sides of the first one. The same goes for the scanner which is super fast. The text is so much clearer than my inkjet and the pictures are excellent as well (something a Laser is not really supposed to excel at). Everything worked right out of the box.

That said, there is one small negative. The scanning SW does not allow you to rotate pages or do even basic editing add/remove pages when creating a PDF. Adobe Acrobat Pro does work well with the scanner driver though and does allow this. (of course, that costs $20 a month). I am sure you can find a cheaper or free alternative, but the first one of those I tried did not work.

One other point. The cost of the toner cartridges is astronomical right now, but I expect them to come down pretty significantly in price (the same that happened to the printer’s price a week ago). Currently it will cost you $800 to buy a complete set of 69H cartridges which is NUTS! Granted, those would probably last me 5 years, but shelling out that much money at once makes no sense.

Low Quality / Cheaply made printer

1/5 Quality of printer. . . Simply put CHEAP QUALITY. The screen is wobbly and barely responsible, the paper trays are very flimsy. The structure is very fragile and shakes the whole table when printing.

1/5 Printing Quality . . . The quality of the printing is low as well. Canon cut down on quality to increase printing speed which is a shame.

1/5 Ease of use. This printer was a pain to set up. The recommended drivers did not work, and had to play around to actually get this printer connected.

Overall, this is not worth the money. I got this as an “upgrade” from the MF743cdw and I am vastly disappointed.

Prints great and fast, bought because HP toners’ were so expensive, but found these are HIGHER!

UPSIDE – Will do what it is supposed to do, and quick in operation. Print quality is super crisp and impressed by it. Scans fast and has lots of bells and whistles regarding things it will do – a bit of a learning curve, but worth it. Don’t use the fax, but there if ever wanted.
This has a lot of things it will do for you, just have to learn them.
DOWNSIDE – Unfortunately SONY followed HP printer software in deliberately blocked software so another (non OEM) replacement toner cannot be read by printer. This will not make me buy their super expensive toner refills, but will prevent me from ever buying another SONY printer. At least they didn’t sabotage their software to slow down or stop printing if another toner is used like HP did – and got sued for it.
A little annoying is the the printer drops printed pages in the center of the middle tray that has a downward curve leaving pages about an inch from the edge making them hard to pick up without wrinkling the papers edge. I know, not a biggie, but all my other 7 printers push pages out and easy to lift.
This great printer came with a set of “teaser” toner cartridges that ran out of ink on few days. I should have checked on replacement cartridges before buying, as the printer cost me $589 with shipping. I found SONY toner cartridges priced for one )1) at $194 (069) to $245 (069H) costing me more than the printer.
In closing, if you can afford the toner replacements, this is a great printer with an impressive fast 1st page and really super looking prints, better than some books I have. I have nothing but good to say about the printer, it prints a lot of different weight paper sizes with ease, double sided printing is easy and fast. You will not be sorry you bought this Canon imageCLASS MF753Cdw, but may when you have to replace the toner.

Good printer, but horrible customer support/warranty!

I like this printer, even though the plastic material seems cheap and fragile, which could break easily. I do have an issue with the black toner cartridge, where dots print on the page. I have clean the drum, which works for a while, but then comes back. Called support and they said to replace the black toner cartridge, but it would not be covered under warranty, since I purchased the printer more than 30 days ago (I have owned this printer for 40 days and barely printed anything). Obviously Canon does not provide good warranty on their products!

Great Printer – Terrible Setup

I bought this to replace my multi-function HP inkjet printer for my home office. The main driver in picking this

===PROS===
Fast and pretty quiet for the most part.
Duplex Scanning is incredible! It works great!
Prints really fast with first page taking mere seconds, even if waking from sleep.
The print quality looks great.

===CONS===
However, the configuration pages are absolutely terrible. I work in IT, but it was a struggle to get it setup the way I wanted, especially when it comes to scanning and the bizarre “Application Library”. It is extremely non-intuitive and frustrating. Worse, there is no on-page help or descriptions. You have to obtain the guide and reference it. Except that some stuff is missing from the guide.

For example, when setting up SMTP for Scan and Email, my email host had a non-standard port in order for the printer to connect to it. Instead of having that on the same page as the SMTP setup page (part of “TX Settings”), it places it under “Network Settings” on a special page called “Port Number Settings”. There is no reference link between these two on either configuration page or in the guide.

With Scanning, there is very little actual setup on the printer itself. Instead, each separate computer connected to the printer has to be configured with the scanning defaults or it will always scan as a JPEG and placed into a dated sub-folder. There is no export / import option. There are literally 11 profiles which cannot be renamed or deleted, nor can new profiles be added. Four profiles are when the scanning is initiated from the printer (from the small touchscreen). Seven profiles are when scanning is initiated from the computer (using the MF Scan Utility). Initiating it from your computer gives more custom control. However, as with the Printer configuration page, there is no help in the app or descriptions provided. You must access another guide and reference it.

In another non-intuitive configuration issue comes the “Application Library” where special functionality is located, such as linking your printer to Dropbox, certain combo activities (such as “Name and Scan” for bulk scanning), default buttons (such as “Scan to Preset Destination”), and other odd applications. They must be Enabled to work, the unused ones should be Disabled to free memory. Then you have to “Initialize” the application, which involves configuring it’s behavior or setting up default actions.

Once you figure it all out, it works great.

Terrible Unless you just need a Printer/Copier

I cannot get the scan to email function to work. Customer Support is a nightmare with no help (actually could not even get through). I am not an IT guru, so all the manual support is like reading foreign language). I tried the support forum and no responses.

Great Mid-level Laser Printer with Ton of Options

Canon has released a new laser printer: Color ImageCLASS MF753Cdw. It has a TON of settings that you might normally see in an office printer and actually performs as good as a bigger and more expensive office printer. The box includes the printer, installation CD, power cord, RJ-11 phone cable, setup guide and other paperwork. The printer comes with a manufacturer’s 3-year warranty.

PROS:
———–
* Printouts are very crisp, colors are vibrant
* There are TOO many options to even list for this printer. It is a serious contender for a great home office printer that can literally do anything. Listing every option in the Remote UI would take pages to explain everything…. which bring me to:
* The User Manual. It’s only available online. You get a quick setup guide, but if you get into the weeds like I did, you will need the full manual located at the Canon website under the Support section. Even then, you may need support.
* Even though it looks tight, you can put a full ream of paper in the main front tray.
* Ability to print/scan/fax/copy to whatever medium you need whether it be a USB thumb drive, email, paper, etc. It has all the options.
* It will work with Win8.1/10/11 amongst others.
* It’s ethernet-capable or wifi. If you cable it up, it’s simply plug and play. If you use wifi, basic setup is done at the beginning… then a Firmware update was done on mine, restarted, then ready to go.
* At 35ppm, that’s great for a home printer. My current printer was getting 42ppm and that was the top-end a few years ago. I haven’t seen many laser printers this quality/price print this fast.
* You can setup your own menus on the touch screen. Put what matters to you where you want so you don’t have to search for items embedded on other screens.
* Feeding documents into the top feeder worked like a charm for scanning/copying documents. I had no issues of paper getting jammed so far.
* If you need to use legal size paper, there is a manual feeder you can use on the front… also great for envelopes and other size paper.

CONS:
———–
* Setup can be a slight headache if dealing with networking/SMTP issues if you don’t know exactly which options to check. I had to call in a couple of times before getting the correct answer from tech support. If you want to SCAN-to-EMAIL, you need to log into the Remote UI, go to Network Settings, set SMTP TX: to 587 (it defaults to 25). Then go to TX SETTINGS and fill out the SMTP server, email, SMTP email/pw, and ALSO need to check the USE TLS FOR SMTP TX. My issue was that I tried to create my SMTP server with :587 on the end of it (as the port), but the printer setup didn’t like that. Once that was changed, SCAN-to-EMAIL worked perfectly.
* I like how this Remote UI interface is so advanced; however, I wish there was a better and simpler way of getting into a GUI interface without having to login every time, and eventually it times out.
* I do not like that this printer beeps every time it prints. I went into the Sound Volume Control settings, and turned off everything; however, when printing, it still beeps. The printer is loud enough as it is, so I don’t need annoying and high pitch beeps each time an item prints.
* Along with the beeps when printing, it does make a lot of noise when it awakes or boots up.
* The touch display is great, but the touch areas are a little off on my unit. If I want to select something I have to press a little higher than the graphic for it to select correctly.
* The menu is a bit cumbersome to learn as there are so many options available. Using the Remote UI is definitely a bit easier to setup and use than the touch screen.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
———–
* It’s heavy-duty and it’s heavy, weighing in just under 50 lbs.
* I do not have a home phone anymore, so I was unable to use the fax. All other functions worked great.

CONCLUSION:
=====================
I’m still breaking in many of the vast features this beast has to offer, and there are plenty. I’m impressed with the options available. If you need to print/scan/copy/fax, once setup, everything is pretty seamless. Getting setup isn’t the easiest of chores if you’re not tech-savvy, especially understanding the Remote UI interface which can use a System Manager mode or a General User Mode. It’s great for not allowing people to make changes in err in being a “general user”… but I wish there was a way to bypass the UI login if the user wanted to. Overall, an incredible printer that gives the options for many users to use in whatever way necessary. I have only seen 1 home office printer better than this one from another brand… I like what I see, and I like the fact that is not an inkjet printer. Having said that, this would be at the top of my list of top home printers. Great work Canon.
