Summary of Customer Reviews

The Alienware AW2724HF 27″ IPS FHD 360Hz Gaming Monitor has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users. Many reviewers praise its exceptional performance in gaming, highlighting its fast refresh rate and excellent picture quality. The monitor’s design and build quality are also frequently mentioned, with users appreciating the sturdy construction and sleek aesthetic. While most reviews are glowing, a few users noted minor drawbacks, such as limited resolution for non-gaming applications and the absence of certain features like built-in speakers. Overall, the monitor is highly recommended for its outstanding gaming capabilities and reliable performance.

PROS

  • High Refresh Rate: The 360Hz refresh rate is consistently highlighted as a standout feature, providing ultra-smooth gameplay. A user mentioned, “The refresh rate on this monitor is incredibly fast… gaming has never felt so smooth and responsive.”

  • Low Response Time: The monitor’s 0.5ms response time ensures minimal motion blur, enhancing fast-paced gaming experiences. One reviewer noted, “You can truly notice the 0.5ms response time as you do not notice any blur effects in fast movements while gaming.”

  • Vibrant Colors: The IPS panel offers vibrant and accurate colors, making games visually stunning. As another user described, “The colors are vivid, sharp, and crisp. There is no smearing, no area of the monitor with backlit issues.”

  • Ergonomic Design: The adjustable stand and VESA compatibility provide flexibility in setup, catering to various user preferences. “The stand is amazing, by far the best monitor stand I have ever used,” mentioned a satisfied customer.

  • Build Quality: The monitor is praised for its solid build and premium feel. “The build quality of this monitor is top notch,” noted a reviewer.

CONS

  • Resolution Limitations: At 1080p, the monitor may not be ideal for users seeking higher resolutions for work or media consumption. One reviewer pointed out, “The 1080p Full HD resolution is nice for a monitor this size, but it might not be sufficient for tasks requiring finer detail.”

  • Lack of Built-in Speakers: The absence of built-in speakers is a drawback for some users who prefer an all-in-one solution. As noted, “There are no speakers or audio output to speak of.”

  • Brightness and Color Range: Some users mentioned that the monitor’s brightness and color range are not as high as expected for professional work. “The black levels are slightly grayish, but very acceptable,” stated a user.

  • Control Button Placement: The joystick control for settings is located underneath the monitor, which can be inconvenient. “The only annoyance is the toggle control button on the underside of the monitor,” mentioned a user.

Who Should Buy?

The Alienware AW2724HF is an excellent choice for competitive gamers who prioritize performance, especially in fast-paced games like first-person shooters. The high refresh rate, low response time, and ergonomic design make it ideal for those who require quick reactions and precise visuals. While it excels in gaming, it may not be the best option for users needing higher resolutions for professional work, such as photo or video editing.

Do Users Recommend This Product?

Overall, users highly recommend the Alienware AW2724HF for gaming. The consistent praise for its performance, particularly the smoothness and clarity during gameplay, makes it a favorite among gamers. While it may lack some features like built-in speakers or higher resolutions, the monitor’s primary focus on gaming excellence outweighs these minor shortcomings. Users appreciate its build quality, additional features, and the immersive experience it provides, making it a top choice for those looking to enhance their gaming setup.

I’ve been using the Alienware AW2724HF 27″ IPS FHD Gaming Monitor for a while now, and I have to say, this is hands down the best monitor I have ever had. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:

Performance:

The refresh rate on this monitor is incredibly fast. With a stunning 360Hz refresh rate, gaming has never felt so smooth and responsive. It’s a game-changer! Just a heads up, though—out of the box, the monitor is set to 60Hz, so make sure to bump that up to the higher refresh rate to fully experience its capabilities. I set mine to 360Hz, and the difference is phenomenal.

Size and Resolution:

I previously used a 32″ monitor, but I believe this 27″ size is ideal for gaming. It strikes the perfect balance between immersion and practicality, fitting nicely on my desk without overwhelming my space.

Aesthetics:

I am absolutely in love with the design of this monitor. The “Dark Side of the Moon” aesthetic is sleek and modern, making it not just a high-performing piece of equipment but also a visually stunning addition to my setup. The build quality feels premium, and the overall look complements my gaming rig perfectly.

Features:

This monitor is packed with features like AMD Free-Sync Premium, ensuring that screen tearing is a thing of the past. It offers a variety of connectivity options, including HDMI and DisplayPort, which is great for different setups. The VESA mount compatibility is another plus, allowing for flexible placement options.

Final Thoughts:

The Alienware AW2724HF is a fantastic monitor that excels in both performance and design. If you’re a gamer looking for a top-tier monitor that delivers lightning-fast refresh rates and a beautiful visual experience, this is the one to get. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I can’t recommend it enough.

There isn’t a full instruction manual included. It tells me how to assemble and turn on the monitor, but not that there is a settings control stick/button on the bottom or a headphone rest on the left-hand side. Or even that the USB-A cable that’s supposedly required is just so you can use two extra USB 3.0 ports that were also unspecified on the bottom for a mouse and keyboard.

Apart from that, the assembly is straight forward and requires no tools. Probably about three minutes in total without the guide.

I used the UFO test on the monitor to check the refresh rate. The difference between 360fps and 180fps is subtle but noticable when done side by side since there is little to no noticable blur on the 360fps. As far as gaming performance goes, if the game supports it and you can actually achieve that frame rate, it looks nice. Outside of that it’s still buttery smooth.

It does have some interesting modes, like putting a large green crosshair in the center of the screen, which beats just sticking a dot in the center yourself if you really need it.

It’s a pretty good monitor, but it does require special hardware if you want to mount it. That isn’t unheard of but it’s still a pain. And the instructions provided, while good enough to set it up, they’re bare basics and don’t give anything beyond the setup. As I mentioned in the beginning, more information would have made set-up much easier and assured the use of all great features.

I have a few monitors on my desk. I have a 14″ in portrait mode for my security cameras, I have dual 23″ on top of each other and a 32″ as my main screen. Adding the Alienware AW2724HF 27″ Gaming Monitor really puts the cherry on top of my setup. I find it easily compares to my ASUS – TUF 31.5″ LED WQHD FreeSync Gaming Monitor. The color profile, the brightness, the response time all sync up very well.

The connection options are nice as well and Alienware / Dell included all of the cables for HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C. The monitor easily connected to my monitor arm for proper placement. Plus, the included headset arm was a nice feature.

I have found that games such as Fortnite, Rogue Squadron and Halo look great on the screen while movies and video calls are crisp and clear.Text is just about perfect for me and scrolling the web is relaxing with the balance between size, brightness and contrast.

I will gladly be looking to use more of this one when I go to replace my smaller monitors with the higher quality options.

Good display, bad design choices

Incredible performance, incredible color and black levels, but slightly marred by some ease-of-use issues and port choices is how I would sum up how I feel about the Alienware AW2724HF 27-inch display.

Unboxing and setup:

The unboxing experience is where it should be for a higher-end monitor – clamshell-style box, easy to assemble adjustable base, and a design that makes assembly easy to do. Besides the monitor and stand, you’ll find a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, a DisplayPort to USB-C cable, a USB-A to USB-B 3.0 cable, a power cable, and a paperboard box that comes with the instruction literature in it. Assembly is completely toolless. The included stand uses a standard Dell mounting design, meaning that the mounting plate easily snaps into place; there’s also a standard VESA 100×100 mounting pattern for those who want to use their own mount.

The stand allows for rotating the display 90 degrees in either direction, though this is difficult as the stand is a little too short for doing to without interfering with your desk. Cable management can handle several cables at once, making it easy to make cables disappear.

A nice touch on the left side of the screen is a headphone holder that pops out; while it’s not very big, I did manage to keep a pair of Roccat ELOs – a chunky, mid-weight set of gaming headphones – for a couple of days without falling down.

The port selection works but could have been better. Two DisplayPort ports support input for up to 360Hz video at 1080p; the single HDMI port is listed as supporting 255Hz. There is also a built-in USB 3.0 hub with 4 ports for those who want fewer cables running between their desktop and the top of their desk.

Performance:

Comparing this monitor against other LCD gaming monitors I own of have owned, the motion rendering is smoother at any refresh rate over 100Hz. It’s almost OLED good, in fact – at 360Hz, the Blur Busters UFO test was showing very little blur and ghosting.

in terms of color performance, it’s not going to match calibrated displays but for everyday work, it’s definitely a step above where I expect a gaming display to be. Even the gamma curves looked right straight out of the box. I also managed to get 360Hz video working with an AMD Radeon 6950XT over DisplayPort, an Intel Arc A750 over DisplayPort, and both a Mobile GeForce 4070 and Intel Arc integrated on a Core Ultra 185H over USB-C. HDMI was a little more mixed, with the AMD card hitting 240Hz, the Intel card hitting 144Hz, and the laptop not wanting to go above 120Hz, but part of that could have been the cables being used.

Drawbacks and disappointments:

First, this display should have replaced one of the DisplayPort ports with a USB-C port with power delivery for charging. Had they gone this route, it could also have KVM functionality between devices for those of us with a laptop and a desktop computer. Second, one of the suggested uses for this display is console gaming but there’s no speakers or audio output to speak of. A minijack out would have been nice. Third, the stand could stand to be about 2 inches taller. That would end the desk interference with rotating the display.

Conclusion:

The Alienware AW2724HF is a solid 1080p high refresh rate display. If you’re in the market for a screen with little compromises, this is it.

A Great Gaming Monitor

The AW2724HF 27″ Gaming Monitor by Alienware is a beauty! It is quite easy to assemble out of the box and sets up quickly. The monitor comes with all the cables you could need. With a 360Hz panel and 1920 x 1080p resolution, the Alienware monitor is very responsive with a nice selection of overlays and plenty of ports.

The monitor comes with cable holes in the stand to allow you to string cables behind the monitor out of sight. It does have a discrete illuminated on/off switch on the right lower bottom of the monitor which stays on until the monitor is turns off and the monitor can be swiveled to display in the horizontal or vertical possition. Up, down and side-to-side swivels allow adjustment to most any position you find comfortable. It moves much easier than my previous monitor.

As for performance, the Alienware AW2724HF is a winner beating out my old HP monitor by a landslide. It is faster to start up and quicker when displaying images, print and internet content. I didn’t expect that its speed would be that easy to recognize.

A hidden headphone stand pops out of the upper left side of the monitor when in the horisontal position – very handle when you are done using full sized headphones while gaming.

The refresh rate of the monitor is adjustable from the 60 Hz default rate to the higher 360 Hz rate using a joystick hidden underneath the montor’s frame. An extreme refresh rate can be adjusted to give a 0.5ms response rate using the joystick.

My overall impression of the alienware AW 2724HF 27″ FHD Gaming Montor is very very positive. It will now be my full time monitor for quite a while!

This is an incredible gaming monitor that screams competitive play for this games that require high FPS to edge out competitors. The AW2724HF is a 27 inch 360hz IPS FHD gaming monitor with an staggering 0.5 millisecound response time. This is a 1080p monitor, with crisp vivid picture quality. I see no visual issues from extreme angles or lose of image quality move around the monitor. The monior also comes with a DP 1.4 cable, USB 3.2 GEN1 upstream cable, and USB-C to DP 1.4 cable. There are also 4 USB-A 3.2 ports on the device, as well as 1 USB-B (which I love! Thank you Alienware for including these ON the monitor).
The monitor itself is VESA compatible for easy mounting. It also comes with AMD freesync premium for highend, tear, stutter and lag free gaming. Build quality is excellent and the setup process is hands down one of the easiest, if not the easiest, I have come across. I quite literally went from opening the box to plugging in within 45 seconds. Settings wise, you have a little nob button at the bottom of the monitor (right below the Alienware logo) that allows you to adjust settings to your liking.
If you are looking for a no nonsense, high FPS, low latency gaming monitor that will help edge out your competition, look no further than the AW27234HF Alienware 360hz gaming monitor.

Outstanding game play and video creation

Getting lost in PC gaming never looked this good. For the price, it offered a range of connectivity options, features and size. I was immediately struck by the colors and picture quality. After using it for hours, I hadn’t realized how much better gaming could be with the higher refresh rate this monitor provides. No blurs, ghosts or stutters affecting the game. The ComfortView plus feature manages Blue light, minimizing eye strain. I found that it wasn’t noticeable in affecting any on screen colors, yet my eyes never felt tired.

I next used it creating some videos. It did not disappoint. Flawless in every aspect, I enjoyed the visual upgrade from my previous monitor. When I used it on a gaming system, it draws you into the game. Much better than playing on a TV screen.

It has a nice touch with a built-in headset hanger. No more kicking it around when I’m not using it.

For the size and features, this monitor exceeded my expectations. It won’t break the bank. I’m very happy with it, and sure it’ll be able to meet my future video needs.
