Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptional Value: Reviewers frequently highlight the monitor as a 'steal' for its price, offering high-end specs like 1440p resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate that typically cost much more.
- Highly Adjustable Stand: The build quality is praised for being sturdy and premium, featuring a tool-less assembly and a stand that allows for extensive height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments.
- Smooth Gaming Performance: Users report buttery smooth gameplay with no screen tearing or ghosting, thanks to excellent G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility across PC and modern consoles.
Cons
- No Integrated Audio or Aux Port: A major complaint is the total absence of built-in speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which complicates audio setups for console gamers who do not use headsets.
- Underwhelming HDR: Multiple reviews describe the HDR performance as 'terrible' or 'unusable,' noting that it often results in low brightness and washed-out colors.
- Calibration and Tint Issues: Some customers reported that the display had a noticeable blue or orange tint out of the box, requiring significant manual calibration to achieve accurate colors.
Customer Fit
- Primary audience: Competitive and mid-core gamers who want fast, tear-free 1440p performance on PC or console, with high refresh rate, low latency feel, and adaptive sync.
- Secondary audience: Multifunction home users (work + play) who split the screen for emails, documents, or multiple tabs and still want sharp, comfortable visuals.
- Ideal scenarios: Fits desks where a 27" display is the “sweet spot,” replaces older 1080p panels or living-room TVs, supports Xbox / PS-style console gaming at high frame rates, and doubles as a daily work monitor.

Good budget gaming monitor but over torqued Vesa screw
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.GTM December 15, 2025Review source: AmazonGreat monitor with built in crosshair and usb ports for my needs. The least gamer looking monitor to replace my Dells. Only gripe is one of the Vesa screw mounts is over torqued and overtightened. With only 3 of the 4 Vesa screws in, but it still holds up.

Excellent Build Quality Lackluster HDR
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product. Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Taylor December 14, 2025Review source: BestbuyI really love the build quality of alienware. Immediately after opening the box I was a little shocked to see a monitor that wasn’t black. The dark navy blue is a really premium look on this monitor. I hope they continue to use it. The base / stand are very sturdy and well designed. The assembly was quite simply one of the easiest things I’ve ever installed, took less than a minute. The osd and power button are easy to reach and easy to see in the dark. However, the OSD options were lackluster and the only other color mode was some gibberish I didn’t recognize. Picking it turned everything green and purple. Would’ve been nice if the other mode was auto-calibrated. Picture quality wise its decent – I wasn’t really impressed. I got to test side by side with an oled, but before that I was coming from a very old non-gaming Dell S2309W (1080p 60hz) monitor so I was expecting a very large upgrade. The colors were good, but because its an IPS display some things were obviously over brightened. For example, the opening main menu of oblivion remastered: it’s basically a fade from black to a glowing fire portal. The old dell S2309W was able to handle the black corners better, the alienware displayed obvious sources of light – like a very minor backlight bleed. AW2725DM is good at showing off a ‘pop’ of color, but it can leave you wanting in dark scenes. At this price point, I feel like they should’ve offered 240hz, but with the build quality its a solid choice. There are some monitors that offer better HDR quality without stepping into OLED; like the AOC Q27G3XMN / AOC – 27″ Q27G40XMN, VA panels for contrast, with Mini-LEDs for brightness control.
Now luckily I was able to compare it side by side to an Acer Predator X27U OLED. I got to say surprisingly the alienware beat it in everyway except for the picture quality which is saying a lot. I mean for some reason the X27U A1 doesn’t even come with a power button?! The stand could punch holes in your drywall if you aren’t careful?! Like what? I might just end up getting an alienware oled instead. That’s how much it impressed me. If the AW2725DM was able to do a slightly better job with contrast / hdr performance and offer greater monitor fine tuning I would’ve kept it and recommended to everybody

Excellent Gaming Monitor Once Properly Calibrated
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Jakari Jones December 14, 2025Review source: AmazonI am using this monitor with my custom PC build, and overall I am very happy with it. Right out of the box, the colors felt a little off to me at first, but after taking the time to calibrate it, everything came together exactly how I wanted.
Once calibrated, the picture quality looks great. Colors are vibrant and accurate, and the screen feels smooth and responsive. The 180 Hz refresh rate makes a noticeable difference during gaming, especially in fast paced games, and everything feels fluid and sharp.
I also think this monitor is priced very fairly for what it offers. You are getting strong performance, solid build quality, and high refresh rate gaming without paying a premium price. After setup and calibration, this monitor turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
If you are building a gaming setup and want a smooth high refresh rate monitor at a reasonable price, this is a great option and easy to recommend.
