Summary of Customer Reviews
The ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMG 27” OLED Gaming Monitor has generally received high praise from users across various e-commerce platforms. Most users laud the monitor’s display quality, especially the vividness of colors and the deep contrast that the OLED technology brings. The glossy finish is also frequently mentioned as an enhancement to visual clarity, making it a popular choice for both gaming and media consumption.
On the other hand, some users pointed out specific issues, such as difficulty in reading text, especially for work-related tasks, due to text fringing or pixel issues. A small percentage of buyers reported defective units, noting problems like screen burn-in or pixel lines appearing after short-term use. Overall, the consensus is that this monitor excels for gaming and media consumption but may fall short for productivity.
PROS:
Color Accuracy and Brightness: Many users are impressed with the vibrant color reproduction of the OLED panel. As one reviewer from Amazon stated, “The color accuracy looks amazing when viewing videos and playing video games like Fortnite and Apex Legends.” The brightness levels were also noted as higher than other competing OLED monitors. The glossy screen plays a key role in enhancing this visual quality.
Deep Blacks and Contrast: The monitor’s OLED technology is praised for delivering truly deep blacks, which is particularly noticeable in darker scenes or horror games. A Newegg user mentioned, “Horror games with dark surroundings are extra eerie as they display true black levels now.” This level of contrast significantly improves the immersive experience in games.
Smooth Gaming Performance: With a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 3 ms, the monitor provides a seamless and smooth gaming experience, as highlighted by multiple reviewers. One Newegg user noted, “It’s very responsive with no noticeable ghosting in games.” This makes it an excellent choice for fast-paced gaming where quick reactions are critical.
Glossy Screen: The glossy screen, rather than the typical matte coating found on many monitors, is a feature that receives frequent compliments. Users find that it enhances the vibrancy and clarity of the display. As a reviewer from Newegg mentioned, “The glossy screen gives a smooth yet vibrant look to the image and complements the capabilities of OLED well.”
Compact Stand: Some users highlighted the compact stand, which takes up minimal space on their desks. This is important for those with smaller setups or who appreciate a cleaner workspace. An Amazon user emphasized the ease of installation and compactness, adding that the monitor comes with a VESA mount adapter for alternative mounting options.
CONS:
Text Fringing and Poor Productivity Use: A recurring complaint from users is that the monitor struggles with text clarity, especially when it comes to work-related tasks. An Amazon reviewer noted, “The WOLED makes anything round or any text on the screen look awful and the AI edge enhancement setting just made everything blurry.” Other users echoed similar frustrations, stating that this monitor is not ideal for reading or working with text.
Defective Panels and Burn-In Risk: A few users reported receiving defective units that developed issues within a short time. For example, one Amazon user shared, “After just a week of use, the panel developed a line going down the middle,” which led to an immediate return. Additionally, concerns about potential burn-in, especially for static content, were raised.
Price: Several users commented that while the performance is stellar, the price point might be too high for some buyers, particularly those who won’t use the monitor for gaming or high-end tasks. An Amazon user mentioned, “It’s not worth the price and certainly isn’t the best there is,” though they ultimately decided to keep the product.
Not True Gloss: While the glossy screen is celebrated by many, some users were disappointed that it didn’t meet their expectations for what a true glossy finish should be. One Newegg user shared, “This is NOT a true glossy coating; it’s more of a half-glossy, half-matte mixture.”
Brightness Dimming Issues: Several users pointed out an automatic brightness dimming issue, where the monitor dims excessively in certain applications. This can be particularly frustrating when switching between different tasks, as noted by one reviewer: “The brightness dims to a horrendous point when it shouldn’t.”
HDR Performance: Some users found the HDR implementation lacking, especially when compared to other high-end monitors. One Amazon reviewer wrote, “HDR is awful,” while another pointed out that the monitor performed better once certain settings like Auto Logo Brightness were turned off.
Who Should Buy?
This monitor is best suited for gamers and media enthusiasts who prioritize vivid colors, deep contrast, and smooth performance. If you’re someone who enjoys immersive gaming experiences, particularly in darker game environments, this monitor’s OLED technology will enhance the experience significantly. Furthermore, content creators or photographers who value accurate color reproduction may also benefit from this monitor’s capabilities.
However, if your primary use case involves a lot of reading, text editing, or productivity work, this might not be the best option. The text fringing issue could become frustrating over time. Additionally, if you need a monitor for mixed-use (both gaming and work), you may want to consider other alternatives unless you’re willing to adjust settings and trade-offs for the gaming benefits.
Do Users Recommend This Product?
Most users highly recommend this monitor, especially for gaming and media consumption. The rich color accuracy, smooth gameplay, and high-quality build are cited as the top reasons for their positive recommendations. As one user aptly put it, “This is the best monitor I’ve owned, I just wish I bought it earlier”.
However, the monitor may not be universally recommended for all purposes. Some users who purchased the monitor for work or text-heavy tasks express dissatisfaction, with one user stating, “It’s not good for productivity, and I’m sending it back”. For those who are okay with tweaking the settings to mitigate brightness or fringing issues, this monitor is still a strong contender.
In summary, for gamers, content creators, or anyone focused on media consumption, the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMG delivers an outstanding experience. However, if your primary focus is productivity, you may want to explore other options due to the text rendering issues and potential panel defects.

Almost perfect
I’ve had this monitor for a week and I’m absolutely loving it.
I’ve been waiting for a glossy WOLED panel for a while. I have a glossy TV and getting a monitor with a cheap matte plastic coating on top of it was just a no no.
This is a 3rd gen WOLED panel so it’s better than last year’s matte version. I can’t recommend this monitor enough.

Fake Glossy. FAKE. Lots of Matte Texture.
Pros: Newegg did a great job shipping this monitor promptly and handling the return. Thank you Newegg.
Overall Review: This is NOT a true glossy coating as one would expect, like from an LG OLED television. This monitor has some sort of botched half glossy half matte coating. It presents a lot of matte grain that’s easily visible with bright colors. Clarity is severely lacking compared to a QD-OLED monitor’s semi-gloss coating. I’m disappointed.

First OLED that hasnt given me headaches
Pros: Priced lower than many OLEDs, beautiful glossy screen, deep blacks of WOLED with great brightness and glossy screen, small stand, first OLED I have tried that has not given me headaches, no noticeable VRR flicker so far
Cons: Makes me wish it was 360hz but oh well
Overall Review: Over the last year I have tried many different oled gaming monitors both 4k and 1440p all of which were QDOLED displays and all that gave me a headache or made me nauseous. I tried the Alienware 32in 4k, Aorus 32in 4k, Alienware 360hz 1440p and the MSI 1440p. This is my first WOLED and I am loving it so far. No nausea, no issues with VRR flicker, and text looks pretty good! I wish it was 360hz but realistically 240hz is more than enough for me

Elmb max 120 fps
Trouble reading text, seems kinda blurry almost makes your head hurt with a white background. Disappointed to see elmb only work at 120 fps or lower.
In game the picture is awesome! Seems smooth and responsive with no noticeable ghosting. The colors look great.

Great Glossy OLED Monitor
Pros: Glossy coating looks nice and keeps the black level looking good and makes the colors pop. Text looks clearer than matte coating
Cons: Texts fringing still exists but is slightly less then what I saw on the LG 27GS95QE-B when I had it
Overall Review: IMO best of both worlds in the WOLED vs QD-OLED competition. You get the great black levels and color pop of a glossy coating like what exists for QD-OLEDs but keep the black levels of WOLED vs raised blacks in a bright room for QD-OLED

Perfect, aslong as you turn off some settings.
Still very dim, weird color distortion issues that randomly happen when powering on, the brightness automatically dims to a horrendous point when it shouldn’t (example in Visual Studio it dims really low when I’m writing code)
It’s not worth the price, and it certainly isn’t the best there is, I’m going to try a aw2725df by Alienware next.
The biggest reason I chose to try this monitor was the stand, since the others have an awful curvey garbage stand.
And the stand is of good quality, but it doesn’t raise the height high enough.
I’ve gamed on it and its honestly not the best experience I’ve had gaming, and HDR is awful.
Edit::
Keeping the monitor, if you want to get a good quality picture, TURN OFF Auto Logo Brightness and Screen Saver.
They only dim the screen ruining it, but from the names they sound as if they do something completely different.
Keep screen moving on though to prevent burn in, I would recommend this monitor after numerous different experiences, this one is amazing.
And yes the Alienware monitor I previously talked about trying, it sucked, do not buy.

Poor Text Visability
Great looking gaming monitor, good HDR for movies, and the gloss screen is a nice addition. Not good for productivity, the extra white led from the WOLED makes anything round or any text on the screen look aweful and the ai edge enhance setting just made everything blurry. I need to use the monitor for work so I couldnt handle it, I’m sending it back

Glossy and pretty much perfect!
I looked for a great monitor for a while and this one has definitely blown me away. The color accuracy looks amazing when viewing videos on YouTube and playing different video games such as Fortnite, Subnautica, Apex legends, and Minecraft . One thing I love about this monitor is the brightness doesn’t dim when switching tabs like any of the other Oled monitors I have order in the past such as the LG one. That’s really important for me as I have sensitive eyes and like stable lighting. Also, stand is really easy to install and comes with a bracket mount adapter as well. Honestly, would highly recommend for anyone looking for intense gaming, and extreme response times as well.

One of the best OLED monitors you can buy!
Finding a glossy monitor these days is very hard as most of them have a matte/anti-reflective coating which gives the image a grainy look if you look closely and lacks vibrancy and punch compared to glossy screens. Finally, ASUS released this glossy panel which is made by LG and the image quality and colors are out of this world. I have owned many monitors in the past including both WOLED and QD-OLED monitors and this one has the most vibrant colors that I have seen.
Another thing people don’t realize when purchasing a monitor, you see everyone wanting a 4K screen and while 4K screens look great when viewing 4K content, if you were to watch a video that is 1080P, it looks pixelated but with a QHD resolution everything looks great no matter what the original quality of the video is.
Just make sure to turn off the Clear Pixel Edge function in the settings. It’s supposed to make text fringing better but it actually makes text blurry and hard to read.
After purchasing it, I contacted ASUS Dubai to verify if the warranty is valid here and indeed, it has a 3 year warranty which covers burn-in and is valid in the UAE.

This is the one!
Pros: OLED with glossy screens go like peanut butter and jelly! Rich deep black levels with colors that pop off the screen. The glossy screen gives a smooth yet vibrant look to the image and it compliments the capabilities of OLED well imo.
Its really nice going through old games and seeing the colors upgraded and being able to make out new details. Very immersive gameplay! Horror games with dark surroundings are extra eerie as they display true black levels now. Games like that on an IPS panel with its glow was like like playing with a night light lol. It’s not retina but at the distance I sit from it (2.5-3ft) 1440P is a non issue.
Props to Newegg for their service and shipping this one out lightning fast!
Cons: Not a fan of the Asus chin but it blends in with the stand enough that I don’t really notice it.
Overall Review: If you’ve been waiting for a Glossy OLED monitor then this is an easy recommendation especially at its asking price.
