- Low Brightness Levels: A few reviews mentioned that the monitor’s brightness wasn’t up to par, especially in brightly lit rooms. “The screen is a bit too dark for my liking, even when I max out the brightness,” one user mentioned.
- Refresh Rate Discrepancies: While advertised as 180 Hz, some users claimed the monitor only reached 165 Hz without using a DisplayPort cable. One review highlighted, “It’s not really 180 Hz unless you manually adjust it and use the correct cables.”

Sleek with Fast Refresh Rate
Nowadays as PC gaming continues to grow, the number of peripherals only continues to grow as well. After testing numerous brands, ASUS continues to come out on top as they have only continued to do so here with this monitor.
First, right of the box, it is evident that corners were not cut when it comes to build quality. Upon attaching the stand (hardware / tools included) I did not have any hesitancies with how sturdy it was. The minimal bezels and sleek design on the back definitely show the thoughtfulness put into the aesthetics of the monitor.
Where this monitor really shines though is upon powering it up with the vast features that are included. First, with the LED IPS display, colors are extremely bright and vivid. To go along with the visuals are the 180hz refresh rate and 1ms response time resulting in minimum lag and blur. The added FreeSync capability only expands on this to help eliminate stuttering. Obviously with all these features it’s tough to stop at times and thus the anti-glare and flicker-free technology allow for longer gaming sessions as they reduce glare and reduce eye strain. Also to assist in longer gameplay sessions are the built in speakers because when my headset died the speakers came in handy as speakers in monitors seem to be few and far between anymore.
Two more features I do have to mention are the Shadow Boost and GamePlus features. First with the Shadow Boost it is exactly as it sounds where during gameplay sessions when you encounter dark areas the image is enhanced while at the same time not over exposing the bright areas. Then the two GamePlus features that are unique to ASUS that I have to mention are the ability to see real time the frames per second and refresh rate because this is reassuring to make sure my PC and monitor are running as they should for maximum use.
Overall, this monitor not only stands out in appearance, but also does so when it comes to performance. Some may complain that it is not 4K to which if you expect all of these features on a 4K monitor then the price would be five times as much as this monitor. Thus, with the vast variety of features on this monitor it sets itself apart in the budget monitor category and therefore I would definitely recommend this monitor for any PC gamer.

Excellent budget gaming monitor with great image!
This TUF monitor surprised me at its price point.
Not only was it a sturdy, well constructed unit, but its compact design worked great on the small desk where I installed it, and its included HDMI cable worked for up to 165Hz refresh rate right out of the box!
The monitor was packed well in its small package – The stand was simple to set up and the whole process took about 10 minutes and we were off to visual bliss.
I installed this monitor with an HP Victus Ryzen 5 gaming desktop with a GeForce 1660 Super graphics card and I wasn’t sure about the advertised 180Hz capabilities being available on such a lower-end card, but I was delighted to see Windows 11 offer me 165Hz refresh with no special software or configuration required. It just worked! I assume a higher end GPU and maybe a DisplayPort connection (DisplayPort is supported, but the cable is sold separately.) would yield closer to the 180Hz max supported refresh, but the 165 was gorgeous, even in streaming games.
On top of that, the 1080p display worked great and had vivid and bright color/brightness. I would reccomend this to ANY casual gamers or people looking for a GREAT display in the value segment.

A Screen You Can Hear. YES Please
To be straight with you. This thing had me hooked the moment I found out that it hd internal speakers. Monitors with this feature seem to be a rare commodities in todays PC realm. 24″ (23.8″W, to be exact) , is what we’re working with here. Anyone can tell you 24″ is universal sweet spot for gaming. With a refresh rate of 180Hz, the 1920×1080 Full HD display with Game+, the picture quality is so satifying . It makes want to put PS5 on it. The matte style screen and zero bazels gives off a clean and uniformed look to any PC gaming setup. 2 HDMI 2.0 ports 1 display and a headphone jack for those late-night sesions in the dorm or when your mate needs to get some much needed sleep. But again, as I said. There are internal speakers Tuff one. I just love that. The manual controls are located on the right side( from power to menu navigation. Plus ASUS’s naivigation stick sitting right above the all of the buttons. Yoy’ll get you power supply, an HDMI cord, boomerang stand and spine. It also comes with allen style screwdriver and screws for optional mounting. All you need is a console of choice and and some free time. All that in an affordable package. I don’t see why you shouldn’t grab one up.
Great graohics
My son is enjoying this Asus -TUF gaming 23.8 inch ips FHD 1080P gaming monitor. This monitor is a good starter size for him and fits perfectly on his his desk. With all the sunlight that comes through the area, this monitor doesnt glare and the screen isnt dark. It shows a gorgeous vibrant picture. My son loves playing roblox and fortnite on this monitor. The graphics are amazing and great for gaming. It has built in speakers which we love because our previous monitor didnt have that. The sound is clear and loud. I love that i am able to also connect the dvd player for my younger ones to watch a movie on. It has hdmi ports. Setup was pretty simple for us as well already had a gaming system set up so all i had to do was swap out my monitors. The base is sturdy, which is great in case someone knocks the desk. We havent had any issues with lagging. We have it connected to our tmobile hkme internet and havent had any issues with games being slow, distorted, or freezing. Overall its a great gaming monitor for my boys to play roblox, minecraft, and fortnite on.

Asus Produces a GEM of a Gaming monitor..
What an exceptional gaming monitor with one millisecond speed it runs like lightning. I hooked up a cable 12 feet long to the monitor just send the signal and the lag was 0 the refresh rate was phenomenal the colors are crisp, and the features are outstanding. My opinion about Asus for the most recent purchases was not very bright but this Asus monitor brings back old memories of the quality involved and Asus’s products, I was exceptionally happy with its functions.
Deployment has mild issues in my opinion. Base stand of the monitor is attached with screws and the 2 inch Phillips screwdriver included in the package is cheesy – you will need a real handled screwdriver to get the four screws into the back of the stand. The wall mount would be problematic its controls are on the back right side of the monitor which means you’d have to reach around and push these buttons to modify the features of the monitor.
Despite the above statement about deployment, once you got this monitor installed and working you have yourself a gem. The speed is phenomenal as mentioned but the features add a wider scope of functions . A tiny joystick type device that lets you select menu items both up, down, left and right, 2 HDMI & 1 display input, built in speakers, overclock options, 23.8-inch design fits squarely into my desk furniture with a reasonably slim frame ideal for people who sit behind a computer for both work and gaming. But really a super ACTION game monitor.
You can easily navigate the features once you get accustomed to the rear facing menu buttons & joystick.
Picture quality-Without breaking the bank!
A very powerful and affordable IPS HD 1080p monitor. Under the hood, this has a 180 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and G-Sync/FreeSync.
The frame has a nearly invisible bezel, measuring around 1/8″ along the top, left, and right, with 3/8″ along the bottom, all while maintaining a sleek and stylish appearance.
This creates an excellent screen by itself or with a multi-monitor setup
In the box, you have your monitor, power cable, HDMI cable, mounting hardware, stand, and footing. All of it arrives encased in two styrofoam panels that give it great protection. The monitor includes visible legends for your 2 HDMI ports, 1 DisplayPort, and an aux jack. That’s because the actual ports for these interfaces are recessed on the monitor in a way that makes seeing them from a fixed standing position difficult. The rear of the panel houses meshed buttons and a rocker switch for the OSD screen settings. Buttons that blend really well with the contour and other elements of the rear panel. The rear of the monitor includes two mount locations, the included stand mount point, and a standard VESA mount. This is an area I’ve previously overlooked and purchased monitors that use the same locations for different mounting methods. This minor detail may become important to you if you do not intend to mount it to any arm and later choose to mount a mini PC, lighting component, or some other accessory to the back of your panel.
After connecting to your devices and setting them up on your desk, it’s time to take it for a test run. With its low motion blur, high refresh, sRGB, and one of the game visual presets, playing anything I’ve tested gives it impressive visuals. Vivid colors, sharp images, fluid motion, little to no blur, darks that are dark and brights that are… well, you get the idea. The panel adds FPS and crosshair overlays to assist you in your testing, gaming, or as informational material.
All in all, for a budgeted panel, this hits all the right boxes, giving you an impressive image quality that won’t break the bank. You may need to tinker with it, between games and profiles, but this puts other panels in the same price range to shame.
This is worth 5-stars.

A great for budget-friendly gaming
As the title says, the TUF Gaming 24″-class (23.8″ viewable) IPS Full HD 1080P gaming monitor with 180Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and FreeSync Premium is a solid option for gamers who prefer a budget-conscious setup.
There’s a lot to like about this monitor. I personally find 24″ to be the sweet spot for a gaming monitor selection that’s not too costly and still gives you a great experience. At that size you’re not really going to care about the max 1080P resolution like you would with a 27″ or larger option. And here’s the thing. 1080P is absolutely enough for a great gaming experience. Yes, a 42″ OLED 4K HDR behemoth will be breathtaking and definitely make you (momentarily) wish you had one. But really, is that experience really worth 7+ times the cost of this monitor? Not in my book. I’d rather get better performance from my budget-friendly pc build running games at 1080P than have extra stress and strain on it.
The build quality is what you would expect from ASUS, which is to say, very nice. Being IPS, the viewing angle is excellent. The 180Hz is smooth as silk. I am also a fan of the controls being on the side of the monitor rather than having a “wiggle and press” all-in-one stick on the underside. I can never figure those out completely and they get frustrating.
Also, for anyone wondering, this monitor is an excellent option for use with a docked SteamDeck.
The only thing I’m a little disappointed in is the inclusion of an HDMI cable over DisplayPort. Other gaming monitors (and even cheaper ones at that) I’ve gotten in the past actually included one.
All in all, I can easily recommend this monitor for just about any gamer. From entry-level to more serious players that are like me and think that 1080P is definitely enough.

In a word, excellent.
Monitors are a dime a dozen. At every turn there’s another new monitor with higher refresh, different curvature, support for variable refresh technologies, different sizes, you name it.
It’s become less common to have a great monitor that really does everything you need without the buzz and cost of the higher end models that many people really won’t use the features of.
This Asus TUF monitor is just that. For those of us with limited desk space, the 23.8 inch monitor doesn’t consume vast amounts of it while still having the beauty of a 180hz gaming refresh rate and support for freesync. Setup was simple as expected out of the box and i appreciate the joystick toggle on the back for adjusting settings. It really has everything you need and nothing you don’t.
My recent playtime obsession has been palworld, but whether playing something simple like that or something more inherently demanding like COD, this monitor delivers. I have mounted it on an arm on the desk to utilize my space as best as can be and even that was easy. The monitor and it’s freesync capabilities were immediately recognized and the image quality is outstanding.
I greatly recommend this to anyone in the market for a great performing gaming monitor with limited desk space looking for a solid brand.
