Customer Reviews Summary

The BenQ HT2060 2300-Lumen Full HD LED DLP Home Theater Projector has garnered a significant amount of positive feedback from users across various platforms, with the majority praising its picture quality, brightness, and color accuracy. Many users highlight the projector’s performance in both dark and light conditions, its ease of setup, and the instant-on feature due to the LED light source. There are, however, some criticisms related to the lack of advanced connectivity options and occasional issues with specific features.

PROS

  • Amazing Picture Quality: Many users have praised the BenQ HT2060 for its superior picture quality, comparing it to having a large HDTV. “AMAZING picture quality, similar to having an HDTV,” mentioned a user, highlighting the clarity and vividness of the images.

  • Excellent Color Reproduction: The projector’s color accuracy and depth have been frequently noted as standout features. A user commented, “Color reproduction is gorgeous out of the box, with excellent color depth, dark and light handling.”

  • Quiet Operation: Several users appreciate the quiet operation of the projector, especially compared to older models. “It’s definitely quieter than my old projector, so once I’m into watching the movie I barely notice the projector fan,” one user noted.

  • Energy Efficiency and Long Lamp Life: The LED technology provides long lamp life and energy efficiency, which is a significant upgrade for many users. “LED bulb really shines in this application… Instant brightness and lower heat output are a big win,” said another user.

  • Ease of Setup: Users have found the projector easy to set up and configure. One user mentioned, “Set up is easy. I had a movie going in 10 minutes from unboxing.”

  • Versatile Usage: The projector’s ability to perform well in various settings, including outdoor theaters and different room setups, is appreciated by many. “Works really well in my outdoor theater…made my summer!” a user exclaimed.

CONS

  • Limited Connectivity Options: Some users have expressed disappointment with the projector’s lack of advanced connectivity features such as Bluetooth. “The only complaint I have with BenQ projectors is their audio connectivity. No Bluetooth,” stated one user.

  • Inconsistent Lens Shift: The lens shift feature has been criticized for being inadequate. “I’m enjoying the HT2060, but the Lens Shift is a joke,” mentioned a user.

  • Occasional Color Fluctuations: The Smart Eco mode, which adjusts the lamp output, can cause distracting color shifts. “A hi-contrast scene will fluctuate the output of the lamp which makes it very distracting,” noted a user.

  • Initial Setup Issues: A few users reported issues during the initial setup or shortly after purchase, such as the need to unplug the unit after every use. “For the life of me, I cannot understand why you have to unplug the unit after every use,” commented one user.

  • Audio Quality: Some users found the built-in speakers to be lacking in quality. “The built-in speaker sounds garbled at various volumes,” one user reported.

  • No Smart Features: The lack of smart features has also been a point of contention for some users. “The lack of smart features shows that the company didn’t put much resource in improving its projector,” noted a user.

Absolutely fantastic

Upgraded from a 15 year old 720p Panasonic projector. It was a great projector and high end for it’s time, but this is truly a great upgrade. I

didn’t want to deal with long hdmi cables having issues with 4k signals so I went FHD and it looks great, especially from my old one. Colors are fantastic. Small thing but the boot up time is nearly instant. With my old projector you had to wait about 30 seconds for the lamp to warm up–not so with this guy. I do see the rainbow effect, but interestingly it’s most prominent with white text against a black backround. During a movie it’s very easy to forget about. I highly recommend plugging it in and playing it against a wall before permanently installing it to see if it is a dealbreaker for you. A g for a 1080p projector is a lot, but I’d rather have a quality FHD image than a s*** 4k one. Overall fantastic.

BTW why on earth is the LED version sharing reviews with the OG? It’s very confusing.

Awesome!

Easy to install, configure, and really enjoying the projector. Something you should realize is that the picture size is proportional to how far the projector is from the screen, and that proportion is fixed (at least for this I don’t know how to change it).

Time will tell… and now, a HUGE fail

Initial reaction is a decent picture, not quite as bright/sharp as my recently-departed Epson 2040, but I chose the trade-off in using LEDs vs buying projector bulbs. Setup was as expected, with leveling being the biggest challenge. I really like the quick start-up and cool-down, but, for the life of me, I cannot understand why you have to unplug the unit after every use. You can’t just turn it off and have it be off? Nope. The instructions tell you to unplug it after you turn it off. So, subtract one star for that engineering brilliance. Overall, 3.5 stars.
Update: Delivered: October 7. Amazon return date ended: November 6. Unit FAILED: November 21. (Screen suddenly turned bright pink — no blue light — only. No amount of resets/restarts/panicked manual reading was able to resolve.) So, $1000 and dead at less than 7 weeks old? I guess I just discovered yet MORE engineering brilliance.

Love the HT2060

Had a HT4050 Benq, getting the light bulbs replaced was more often than I thought it should be. Got the HT2060, here are the improvements:
1) Less noise
2) Less heat
3) Brighter picture
4) Longer life (20K hours vs. 2K (or so).

We are not gamers, we just watch movies and cable.

Too soon to say it will last 20K hour, it is still a big improvement.

Fantastic 1080p projector

I’ve been enjoying this projector for the past few weeks now and I am completely satisfied with its performance. Read avsforum.com and user/reviewer sage11x who has done a thorough review on it and see if it’s for you. It replaced my aged Marantz 12VPS4. Couldn’t be more satisfied.

Perfect upgrade

Upgraded from an old Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 640. Love the BenQ! I’ve been using the Filmmaker mode with Blu-ray dvds (Thin Red Line, No Country for Old Men, In Cold Blood) and they look spectacular. Between the Eco and Smart Eco energy saving modes, I think it’s best to stick with regular Eco as the Smart Eco has too many color shifts within the same shot as it’s programed to try and compensate between dark/light scenes. A hi-contrast scene will fluctuate the output of the lamp which makes it very distracting. But overall, the contrast is beautiful. The blacks are deep and colors, rich. Very happy with the purchase. Would definitely recommend.

A very nice projector for under a thousand

Great colors and clarity. The only complaint I have with benq projectors is their audio connectivity. No Bluetooth, so you have to accept the built in speakers or run a line across the room to your audio setup (assuming you’re awake most of us and have your speakers in front of you)

End-Game 1080p performance for gaming and movies alike

Came to this projector after being disappointed in the Viewsonic PX701-4K’s performance. As a 1080p projector, downscaled 4K content looks miles better on this unit than at any attempt for native 4K on the competition. Color reproduction is gorgeous out of the box, with excellent color depth, dark and light handling, and brightness. Motion is handled very well in both gaming and movies. Highly recommend this unit over anything else under $2,000.

Incredible picture and color

We’re blown away by this projector. The color reproduction and image quality is just amazing, it’s very quiet, and the speakers are surprisingly good. We love it!

Buy it

This thing is fantastic, Colors really pop. I upgraded from a 15 year old Panasonic 720p projector and it’s noticeably brighter, sharper and more colorful. It instantly turns on too, no waiting for a lamp to warm up. I do see the rainbow effect but it’s easy to ignore during a movie. I’d recommend pointing it at a wall and testing it before installation to see if it bothers you. I do wish it had just a tad bit more vertical shift. Also, I just found out it can do 120hz!!! That’s amazing since I’m an avid gamer. I tried it and it’s incredible. 1k is pricey but I highly recommend.
