Questionable Brightness and Not Great Color

Compared to my 3-year-old Epson EX7235 which is a 3000 lumen projector, the BenQ MH733 does not do very well.

Comparing overall brightness, the Epson is just as bright even though it is 1000 lumens less bright.
Comparing color, the Benq’s reds kind of look more brown, and the color in general doesn’t appear near as smooth as my older Epson.

So… I ending up returning the Benq and purchasing an Epson EX9220 and doing the same comparison. It is noticably brighter than the EX7235, but the colors still look great. So even though the Benq has a few more features than the Epson, the Epson looks noticably better in brighter ambient light conditions and is the clear winner in picture quality.

PICTURE HAS LINES IN IT

I have always been very satisfied with BenQ until I bought this product. It worked great for 30 days and then… lines started showing up while watching anything, dvds, cable, Netflix…. I went to process a return but of course it was past the 30 day return policy so now I am stuck with a lemon! I hope the customer service team reads this and offers to send me a new projector or upgrade me otherwise this review will not CHANGE!

Product was pretty much dead out of the box

Product was pretty much dead out of the box. Same issue already noted….overhead condition after about a minute of being on. User manual says “Fan 1 Error”. Since this is a repeat issue (now three recorded), I won’t be reordering. Very disappointing.

Good brightness and audio output is nice

I bought this for use in our conference room because of its brightness, resolution, and ability to output audio to an external amplifier. My coworkers were satisfied with the quality, so I ordered another one for one of our other conference rooms. Neither room has any windows, so I can’t comment on performance in a well lit room, but in a room with no natural light it looks great. The built-in speaker doesn’t have the best sound quality, but that is expected with an internal speaker. I would suggest using an external amplifier and speakers if sound quality is a concern. I could also see this as a good option for a home theater projector. Overall I would recommend this for a conference room projector if you’re looking for good brightness and 1080P resolution.

Bright, beautiful image right out of the box!

Bright, stunning image quality right out of the box! I know this is a business projector but I am using this in my living room as our main display. I am amazed at how beautiful the image is –projectors really have come far in terms of quality and price and this particular one is a fantastic option! Highly recommended!

Not Castable from phone

Bought as a replacement for an older ceiling mounted projector at church. This projector works ok, zoom and keystone feature worked great even mounted on the ceiling. The projector needed to be a lot closer to the screen that the old one, the picture was easily 3x the size of our old projector, so this projector had to be moved 10′ closer every projector is different so it was somewhat anticipated.

The main reason for my 3-star review is that even though it’s advertised as a network projector, you won’t be able to cast to it from your phone. It does not show up as a castable device on your phone. Instead it requires and app to cast to it. However the app is no longer available from the google store so there’s no way to cast directly to the projector from the phone (unless you get a separate google Chromecast etc) This was one of the reasons we wanted to upgrade the projector and it was a huge disappointment. we were able to work around it by hooking up a Chromecast to the 2nd hdmi input but that was an extra step and cost that should not have happened as this projector is advertised as a network projector with a cat 5 input.

Second Major Keystone Fail with this projector

The amount of frustration this projector has caused prompted me to write my first Amazon review. I bought one of these, and immediately out of the box keystone functions did not work. I pressed the button, the arrow light blinked, seeming to indicate it received the input, but the numbers didn’t change nor did the picture. Fine. I returned it and got a replacement, as this model seemed ideal for my brightness requirements and picture quality. This one has been working and we’ve really enjoyed home cinema viewing, as well as a couple work presentations. However, tonight we went to set it up again at home after it was out for a work meeting, and the keystone functions again don’t work. Neither does the Fit Corner function. This is maddening, as it is now past the 30 day mark since the purchase. We tried different ports, different HDMI cables, using the remote instead…nothing. Has anyone else had this issue? This feels absurd for such a crucial function to fail on two consecutive products. Overall, a very dicey purchase. I am extremely disappointed and wish the company would address this issue.

We Bought This And Expected It To Work. It DID NOT

The BenQ factory Quality Assurance people blew it on this one. Despite trying to pair it automatically and manually, HDMI 1 input failed completely pairing with our BRAND NEW Dell laptop.

The funny thing? HDMI 2 input paired in less than 2 seconds.

Maybe the factory should make sure a $800.00 projector actually works before leaving the factory?

Especially since this Projector was supposed to be used at our Daughter’s funeral. She was a Nurse Practitioner in a Level 1 Trauma Center and died from COVID at age 26

Thanks for screwing up my presentation entitled “Things You Didn’t Know About Our Daughter”
