I'm an idiot...
…for spending years and money with those typical inkjet printers and all-in-ones. I thought yeah the cartridges are expensive, but I don’t print that much anyway. The truth is those cartridges drain way faster than advertised no matter what setting you put on. I also used to think, “oh but if I want to print something in color.” SO NOT WORTH IT.
This baby? It just works. Everything just works. The tactile buttons, the old school digital display, and the software UI make it look like it’s from 2004, but it purrs like a kitten. It prints fast and super clearly. I even prefer the buttons, as I always find those touchscreens very hit or miss. Even if I somehow only get a quarter of the advertised 1200 pages from the toner, it will beat every inkjet I’ve ever owned.

Works Great!
I love everything about this printer.. the fast printing, scanning, window program to scan documents, ease of use etc… I replaced my crappy HP color ink jet print after the cost of color ink skyrocketed with this one. Nothing was wrong with my old one but the once any color ink went out you could not print even in black & white. Threw it out and bought this one. No regrets.

Works like a charm! This beats ANY ink printer.
Reasonably priced B/W Laser printer. After YEARS of owning color ink jet printers I realized that 1) I never had a need for color. 2) Ink cartridges end up costing more than the printer and run out frequently 3) If you don’t use your ink jet very much the ink dries up and clogs the machine. That’s a mess to fix. This solved my problems. Great looking print, copies, & faxes. It prints fast too. If you want a printer that does one job well and don’t need color this is it and you won’t be throwing money away on tons of ink cartridges. These toner cartridges LAST!

Printer is great. Set up of wifi problematic
The printer works perfectly. no complaints. However, following the direction on the wifi setup using the “setup sheet” was less than helpful. Had to go to Brother website and find the actual user manual to figure it out. The direction in the user manual were correct and easy to follow. Just an extra step that could be avoided if the install sheet provided better info. Plugging it in to cat 5 or usb, install is super easy and straight forward. no issues. Apple Airprint does work after wifi is enabled.

Get the model with the touchscreen
I have made this mistake before. The set up on this thing is a pain. It feels like T9 texting to set up any facet of the machine. Just get the model with the touch screen instead of this one. This one works great but I should have gone 1 model better. I hate the rudimentary controls.

Pretty Quick Setup on a 2009 iMac & 2022 MacBook Air but USPS couldn't deliver
Just finished installing the printer. On my 14-year old iMac I used the enclosed CD, followed the prompts and was printing in a matter of minutes. On my 2022 MacBook Air, I went to “Print” and selected the 2717 and was printing. Will provide an update after I’ve had it a while.
Amazon may want to ask what customers think about USPS delivery. I received a message from Amazon that the postal service had tried to deliver and I would need to reschedule. I checked my USPS account online and it said they had tried to deliver at 9:21 in the morning, package was “oversized”, a notice was left and would need to reschedule. I clicked reschedule and received a message that link was no longer active. I checked our post box and there was no notice. I left a note in the box for our postal carrier and told her I would come out and pick up the box from her vehicle. When she delivered the mail later in the day she said that morning she’d had a lot of packages and didn’t have room for the printer. She left the “notice” that started “sorry we missed you while you were out”. I drove into town (15 minutes away) to the post office to get the printer. I asked if the person at the counter could explain why the package wasn’t delivered. His response, “Yeah, sometimes if they’ve got too many packages they leave some behind.” Brother and Amazon get 5 stars, Post Office gets 0. Amazon Prime delivery is a great convenience–if the Post Office delivers.

Brother charges for access to the printer driver.
I could not download the driver and contacted Brother for help. They charged me $100 to get the driver. The printer works fine and I expect many years of excellent service, but this charge should not be acceptable.

Great printer!
Nice printer for the price. I’ve only had it a month but it works great. It will scan it will copy and it holds a lot of paper. It’s just like an office printer that I can use at home.

superb
After struggling with a cheap HP inkjet printer (36$ student printer), decided it was time for an upgrade and also a laser one. Found this printer for $175 black friday sale. Also found HP laser ones but seemed like they all used the HP smart interface which I had so many problems with. Brother had the better reviews and better sale. Delivery took a few days , setup and install took about 25 mins. The online videos were helpful, as there were some nuances. The very first page I printed from my iPhone brother iprintscan app came out nice and crisp and I scanned the same page which was flawless. So far I am impressed.

Great
Got tired of having to clean the headers on my Inkjet; wasting ink. I never owned a laser printer until now. I like the ability to just print when I want, and not dread it.
This printer is very fast and outputs very sharp prints of text. It works without needing drivers. Software is not needed, but it does add extra features that you may want (like scan to pc). Double side printing is nice as well; and is done it automatically.
