Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Fast and Efficient Performance: The printer is frequently described as a 'workhorse' that delivers high-speed printing and copying, making it ideal for home offices and small businesses that handle large volumes of documents.
  • Excellent Print Quality: Users consistently report sharp, clear, and professional-looking monochrome text and images with no smudging, often comparing the results to high-end office copiers.
  • Automatic Duplex Printing: The fully automatic double-sided printing feature is highly valued for saving paper and time, functioning smoothly without requiring manual intervention.

Cons

  • Difficult Setup and Poor Documentation: A significant number of reviewers found the initial installation and wireless configuration to be needlessly complicated, citing poor instructions and the lack of a comprehensive physical manual.
  • Archaic and Unintuitive Interface: The non-touch LCD display and menu system are criticized for being dated and difficult to navigate, particularly when performing tasks like entering Wi-Fi passwords or changing paper settings.
  • Inconvenient Paper Tray Design: The paper tray sticks out several inches from the front of the machine and remains open, which users find bulky, flimsy, and prone to collecting dust or being accidentally bumped.

The printer itself is not bad, however the lack of user manual is upsetting. No instructions on how to print envelopes. Would rethink this if had to do over.

Documentation is awful. Must be technical to get it set up (I am), but love the printer/scanner once it’s set up. I had an earlier model and it went 20 years (yes, I’m in my 70s now so if I can do it, you can do it) and I gave it my daughter because I wanted a wifi printer. Exceeded my expectations.

Pros: fast, cost effective laser cartridge, with copy and scan
Cons: my old desktop computer has issues with connecting, but newer laptops are fine; it is a bit large and the user interface on the screen requires some self-training to figure out the commands; overall, a good sturdy machine. My prior one was a workhorse and lasted 15 years.

  10. Scanning capability: Sheet feeder stopped working in 2 weeks

There were several issues at the beginning. Difficult to connect to the network; AirPrint doesn’t work out of the box because of sleep mode, which can’t be switched off. Those took some major geek tweaking of settings, but were ultimately overcome. Then, barely 2 weeks after getting everything working, the sheet feeder decided it would no longer work. (I know the settings are correct because I’ve used it a number of times before today).

    Returned.
