I have to turn the printer on and off at least twice to get it online. Then, it’s a problem every time I try to print anything that isn’t on 8.5 x 11″ paper. I change the settings and load the paper like I am supposed to, but it still doesn’t detect the paper 9 times out of 10. If I could return it at this point, I definitely would.

The marketing for this printer looked like the next one up in the line. It is not. Especially frustrating is the listing including marketing for “High-Speed Printing”, when in reality it only prints 2 pages per minute. (The IP8720 prints 14 pages per minute.)
Giving it two stars as setting it up to WiFi was much easier than the old PIXMA. Unfortunately, we used the printer right away and realized, no, there isn’t anything wrong with it, but it is just that slow. I don’t think it is returnable.

Canon’s packaging was excellent, but it came in amazon oversized box with no padding, allowing it to slam back and forth inside the box over a distance of about 6 inches.. No visible damage on either box, but after unboxing and carefully following Canon’s online installation and going through Canon’s online troubleshooting I could not get it to power on – absolutely dead. Not even the green light next to the power on button lit up. My guess is an internal cable or fuse came loose or when being banged around during shipping. No fault of the shipper. The power module was loose but could not be easily removed to be checked like on some older models. Returned immediately and ordered another. Will see if and how the new one works and then maybe update my review. Amazon needs to use more care in packaging, especially something as fragile as this.
