Canon PIXMA TS7720 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer
Summary of Customer Reviews
The Canon PIXMA TS7720 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer has received a mix of praise and criticism from its users, reflecting its features and usability. Many users appreciate the printer’s compact design, ease of setup, and overall good printing quality, especially when used for light home tasks or casual photo printing. Wireless setup is often praised, though there have been several issues related to connectivity that some users experienced, particularly involving network connections with older computers or setting up without using the app. Reviews often highlight that this printer suits users who are not heavy-duty printers, as its ink cost can quickly add up with high-volume usage. The printer’s built-in scanning and copying features also seem to work well for most, with a few users pointing out difficulties in scanning to a computer.
While some found the installation straightforward, others reported problems, particularly when dealing with Windows 7 or attempting to connect to Wi-Fi. The touchscreen interface is intuitive for some but too small for others. Print quality is generally considered good for photos and documents, and the speed is adequate for casual use, but it’s not the fastest option available. A few users pointed out that the ink cartridges need frequent replacement, and costs can escalate if used for frequent printing, which makes it less economical in the long run. The physical quality of the paper trays and components also received mixed reviews, with some finding it flimsy.
Overall, the Canon PIXMA TS7720 is seen as a solid home printer for users looking for a multi-functional device with decent quality for occasional use. It might not be ideal for those with high printing demands or who seek very high-quality photo printing due to its ink consumption and speed.
PROS
- Compact Design: The printer has a small footprint, making it suitable for home use where space is a concern. A user mentioned, “This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well.”
- Ease of Setup: Setting up the printer was simple for many users, especially when using the Canon app. One user shared, “Setup was smooth as silk. Almost fun, with the interactions all accomplished on its own touch screen.” The app was noted as particularly helpful for guiding less tech-savvy users through the installation process.
- Wireless Printing and Versatility: The wireless feature allows users to print from multiple devices, which was appreciated by those with home offices. The printer supports different devices, including smartphones and tablets, making it versatile for modern home environments. “The wireless feature is great for the things that I have used it for,” stated one user.
- Good Print Quality: For an inkjet printer, the print quality is commendable, particularly for text documents and casual photo printing. One user noted, “The print quality is fine for home use. Photos come out beautiful.” Users also mentioned that color reproduction is decent, though not top-tier.
- Touchscreen Interface: The touchscreen control panel makes navigation easy, especially for basic printing and scanning needs. This feature was considered a strong point by users who preferred direct access to settings.
- Linux Compatibility: Notably, some users appreciated that Canon offers Linux drivers, making it an appealing choice for those who use Linux systems. A user explained, “I just downloaded the driver from the Canon web site installed it, and everything works perfectly.”
CONS
- Connectivity Issues: Some users experienced difficulties with Wi-Fi connectivity, particularly with older computers or certain operating systems. This inconsistency in connection was a major drawback for a number of users. “There was no way my technically challenged mother-in-law would have ever been able to do it herself,” one user reported.
- Small Touchscreen: While the touchscreen was praised for its functionality, the size of the screen is a problem for some. “The writing on the function display couldn’t get any smaller,” one user complained. This can make initial setup cumbersome for users who are not comfortable with tiny screens.
- High Ink Consumption: The cost of ink is a significant downside, particularly for users who print frequently. “This unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot,” noted a user. The printer uses ink quickly, especially in color printing, and the two-cartridge system may require frequent replacements.
- Flimsy Build Quality: Several users pointed out that the printer’s build feels cheap, with paper trays and other components being described as flimsy. One user stated, “The paper trays are a bit flimsy but just go easy with them and they will be fine.”
- Inconsistent Setup Experience: Setting up the printer was problematic for a significant number of users, particularly those using Windows 7 or those who initially tried to set it up without using the recommended app. “Getting these printer drivers to load was a nightmare,” one frustrated user noted.
- Slow Printing Speed: While adequate for occasional printing, the speed was found lacking for those needing a faster output. “Take a coffee break, because it seems to be slow in processing,” mentioned one review.
Who Should Buy?
The Canon PIXMA TS7720 is ideal for home users who need a compact and versatile printer for occasional document and photo printing. It suits those who value wireless connectivity and want a printer that is easy to set up with modern devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. If you are not planning to print frequently or in high volumes, this printer is a good match, particularly for light tasks such as school assignments, casual photos, or personal documents. It’s especially suitable for those who don’t mind managing ink costs and who appreciate a user-friendly touchscreen interface. However, if you require high-volume printing or need fast and economical printing, you may want to consider a laser printer or another inkjet model with more efficient ink usage.
Do Users Recommend This Product?
Most users recommend the Canon PIXMA TS7720 for light, everyday home use due to its ease of setup, print quality, and wireless functionality. The printer’s versatility and compact design make it a good choice for personal or family use, especially for those who need to print documents occasionally. However, there are also some significant criticisms, particularly around connectivity and the cost of ink. Users who had trouble with Wi-Fi setup or who found the touchscreen too small were less enthusiastic. Overall, if you understand the limitations and can manage the potential challenges with connectivity and ink consumption, the Canon PIXMA TS7720 offers good value for home use.

Great value for low workloads.
Edit: Still going strong. No issues. I have no idea what the negative reviewers are experiencing, but it almost is assuredly user error of some sort with network, gear, or user control. This thing prints from Wi-Fi flawlessly in a basement setting from 6 feet away in my case, and it prints fairly fast without issue.
Inkjets are expensive if you use a lot of ink. This is not a laser printer, and you should not expect to be doing loads of printing for anything on it.
For printing photos, it actually has very decent quality, yet this one will use ink at a fast rate like most inkjets. I use this for shipping labels and occasional documents. Almost no photo printing at all. For those who print only sporadically, it’s a perfect option.
Compared to my last Canon, this one is more compact, easy to setup, Wi-Fi works flawlessly, and setup was basically one and done. I don’t understand the issues people are having, but it most likely comes down to your network and lack of expertise.
I manually posted my password on first boot, and even though I mostly have Wi-Fi disabled, when I turn it on with the printer, it works and prints without issue; no need to input password again or waste time finding a device. I never had even the slightest issue after password input.
It’s definitely not super high quality, but it also doesn’t have a bunch of stuff I don’t need. I like the lack of glossy plastic as well. This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well. We’ll see how long the power supply lasts.
Scanning works well, though, you will notice it is a little louder than some models. Printing has so far gone as well as before with a more expensive inkjet that died, and this doesn’t seem to use ridiculous amounts of ink when on the lowest ink usage settings. Still, the unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot. I always recommend a laser printer for people printing over 20 documents a month. No exceptions. Otherwise, you will be paying out the wazoo for ink on this thing, despite only having two cartridges.
Overall, Canon has done about all they can do for a compact inkjet. There isn’t much else to do for printers. You won’t be getting any major improvements over the years. This is about as small and efficient as it’s going to get, and even at that I barely notice the differences from ten years ago. Software is minimal and not invasive if all you want is drivers. I put the services in Win 10 on manual, and there isn’t anything else going on outside a scanner tool for my setup. With my needs this is a nice model so far. I hope it lasts.

Great Cost Efficiency, Some Physical Quirks
Was shopping for a printer and saw that in-store printers are easily hitting $200+ on some brands, so decided to use amazon to find one. Having used this one for two months now here’s what I have figured out for benefits and drawbacks:
Pros:
-Cost Efficient
-Decent Finish
-Good Print Clarity (Though I only use it for spreadsheets)
-Easy Setup (Took me two minutes all together)
-Scanner Works at decent clarity as well
Cons:
-Not that fast (but at this price point you have to lose on some things)
-The paper feed tray is very picky about how you reload it, and the paper hold capacity isn’t great
Definitely a good printer at this price range, if you need a cheap printer and scanner, this will cover any immediate needs.

Does the job.
Likes: Very good printing. Clean. Responds to just making copies, black or color. Responds to computer print commands, black, color, pages to print, orientation. Other commands. Not a lot of higher cost options, there are added steps, for black, color, but that’s not a challenge. Like a vehicle, with less options, so, use an extra step, push an extra button.
Plain paper, photo paper. Scans good; follows the computer commands. Copies good. No top feeder, but if one does an amount of copying, then get the top feeder for the TS 6420a.
Not much in dislikes. But one: Cartridge cost.
Two XL’s, 260 and 261, That’s almost half the printer cost. A few months of normal printing, another round of cartridges; hence, the cost of the printer itself. A decision: How much printing one does. Individual choice, this printer or another, with three to four color carts, then the two blacks. Note: the amount of ink in the 260 black, standard or XL, is equal to or less than a black standard or XL cart for another printer that has multiple color carts, and two black carts. In the 261 tri-color cart: 3 spaces, three colors. Likely one third the ink, standard or XL, compared to separate color carts, standard or XL, of other printers. Cost: 260 standard or XL black, more than double cost of another black standard or XL for another printer (note: this one 260 black does double duty, compared to two separate black carts of other printer). Cost: 261 standard or XL tri-color, almost triple the cost compared to separate color standard or XL carts on another printer. The others: Replace only that color. The 261 standard or XL: One color empties first, the whole cart could be useless. Compares to pharmaceutical companies, their brand name drugs. Exorbitant prices. Generics? Cost so much less. Affordable. Every printer maker: The cost of their brand carts is sky high. Generic carts? Ink quality? For printing, photos? It’s a real guessing dilemma. Will it hurt the printer? Void the warranty? The bottom line: Every printer maker makes a fortune on the OEM carts; they know it. Huge after printer sales brand name ink cart profits. Free market, of course. No govt interference. But there is, for drug costs, rightly so. Back to the beginning: It’s a very good printer. Canon Tech support: A-1. No long lines waiting for assistance; answer in a minute. Knowledgeable people, they know their product. Like Apple tech support. No word gimmickry, no ‘awesome’, no ‘perfect’, none of the “I can definitely help”. They hear something once, they got it. No annoying parroting repetitions of a question. The way it was, in more competent times.

So far so good…
I gave this printer 4 stars only because I just received it today. Thankfully it shipped very quickly – I’m lost without a printer. My Canon Pixma MX922 served me well so when it gave out, I decided to purchase another Canon particularly knowing complaints my family members have experienced with their various brand choices. Five stars for ease of setup. Be patient with yourself. I’m 79 years old, not tech savy and with a minimum of fuss, on my own I had it setup in about half an hour. The wireless install was seamless. It was up and printing in about 45 minutes. I recommend going to the web site for instruction. The online manual is there for a reason, very useful and walks you through a stress-free install. I agree with other reviewers it seemed a bit insubstantial in certain aspects particularly regarding the rather flimsy paper tray. But for home use purposes and utilizing a little care I don’t foresee that as being particularly troublesome. I do like the small footprint of the machine and am pleased with the quality of print. However, it remains to be seen on longevity of ink. Otherwise, I am very pleased with my purchase of the Canon Pixma TS6420.

If you are using this with Windows 7, you may have serious difficulty getting the drivers to load.
After only having this printer 2 days:
The Plus: Unlike HP, you can get this printer up and running without connecting THE PRINTER to the Internet so you have complete control of your ink. Also the ink cartridges look very similar to my old standby HP printers which have the print heads built into the cartridges. Also, the ink is reasonably priced.
Aside from the ink, everything else must be done online, including reading the instruction manual. In other words, I can find NO user manual pdf file to download.
The Worst: I am a very experienced PC user. There’s no included driver disc so you have to download them and store them on your pc. Getting these printer drivers to load was a nightmare. Even the Canon tech support guy couldn’t get them to load.
When I first started the printer up, Windows 7 Pro immediately found the printer, went out to the Internet, found the Canon drivers and loaded them automatically. However, no scanner driver was loaded. The printer printed beautifully and made respectable copies, but no scanner driver was loaded so it could not scan. After a half an hour on the phone with tech support and trying a number of things, it became clear that the downloaded Canon software could not even SEE this printer. Windows could see it fine, but not the Canon software. (Other people have experienced this problem) Tech support eventually gave up.
After that, I deleted all of the Canon software from the Windows Control Panel. I restarted the PC and this time Windows could no longer see the printer, or so I thought. In the Windows Device Manager, I found 4 grayed out Canon printer entries. On a hunch, I told Windows to update each driver entry one by one and directed it to the folder that contained all of the downloaded Canon software. One, by one, they updated instantly and all of the drivers were now loaded. I never could get the Canon scanner utility program to load again, so I resorted to using Windows Fax and Scan, which works fine.
I spent hours doing this. I hope your experience is better, and it may fine be on Windows 10. I’ll update this review later after the printer’s been in use for a while.

This is a fussy printer
I didn’t want to use a HP anymore because they almost force you to get their instant ink package. So I took a risk on a Canon. It does print quickly enough for me, and I don’t have to get an ink package. However, it is a very fussy printer. You can only load a little paper into it; if you put in too much, it will jam. It only works with our two laptops; we couldn’t get our phones or tablet to work with it. When you turn it on, you have to let it “think” and move its rollers for the first three minutes or so – if you try to print before it’s finished thinking, it just stops and won’t do anything. The printer automatically shuts off if you don’t use it for a few hours; you have to turn it back on and wait for it to finish thinking again. It goes through XL ink cartridges quickly. It wasn’t an expensive printer, but I don’t know if I would buy it again.

Just OK
It feels a little rickety – I put that folded-up paper to get it to sit steady on the shelf. Probably not a printer problem since the shelf is just pressed wood. My old Canon did sit steady and straight on that shelf and it worked perfectly fine after many years but when I got a new computer it would not connect – it was out of warranty and Canon did not provide a driver for the new operating system.
This new printer connection was pretty straight forward for my phone and computer.
However.. the Canon support site says it should work with chromebooks but my chromebook didn’t find it, and when I tried to load a driver from the Canon site it said that the operating system was not detected. Other people have connected chromebooks so I don’t know, it is a Lenovo chromebook instead of the more well-knows brands? (Of course Lenovo points at Canon and Canon points at Lenovo.) I’m keeping the printer because I can print from the other computer and I’m too lazy to send it back.
Another small thing, not a big enough problem to bother with a return, but I was surprised, not pleasantly, when I realized you can’t get the paper drawer back ‘inside’ the printer once loaded with paper. You lose that nice sleek profile I was hoping for from most of the pictures in the Amazon ad.
And you have to open the collection tray before you print. I knew that and didn’t think it would matter but my old one opened by itself and now I realize getting up to open the tray makes me sigh and I need to close it when picking up the job because it sticks out so far when open.
What I can’t say is how long the ink lasts. Fingers crossed on that one!
No frills, but it works
Is this a great printer? Absolutely not. The print quality isn’t anything to write home about. Physically, it’s a bit awkward. It was a PITA to set up wireless printing–the fancy install wizard failed multiple times. But it does work, I was able to manually install and get it set up wirelessly, and for an all-in-one, it’s pretty compact. I’d have to say the scanning function is the highest quality compared to everything else this little machine can do. The UI is terribly outdated, but it works fine, and it can save as several different formats.
This is not a printer to brag about, but it has saved my bacon several times in just the few months I’ve owned it. I can print out my college assignments at any time, I don’t have to worry about my dorm’s print room being on the fritz, or the on-campus printers being inaccessible or not taking my print account. I won’t be using this printer for any kind of big project that needs to be visually appealing. But for basic homework and such? It gets the job done and I’m glad I got it.

Works Good Looks good
Finally got rid of my HP Printer & decided on this one.
On arrival set up took about 20 minutes everything worked, then I downloaded the Canon software on 3 other laptops. All printed from this printer on first try.
Installing the Ink Cartridge’s is easy. My only Major Con on this printer feels very flimsy & cheap with way to thin plastic parts. Examples: The Paper Cassette & separate tray feel like they can snap & break. # 2. Lifting the scanner section to get to the ink cartridges is easy but putting it back down the entire top section makes a loud snapping sound like you Broke the plastic hinges. No directions come with it. I discovered when closing the lid- you have to lift an open scanner section upward more then it closes easy. Hence my 4 out of 5 star ratings. In short the entire printer looks great works but every section is cheap thin plastic that feels like it can snap & break just accessing parts for normal maintenance. Finally the Display is too small. a Large Ice Blue display would not only be more visible for office work & home use it would look better. There is no reason to have a 1 inch x 1 inch display that you need a microscope to see the data at this printers price point. Canon is so close to perfection on this printer but fell short.

Great printer with many features
I love the printer so far, it performs well, was very easy to set up and I love the two sided print and wireless print features. I wanted a printer with a scanner and the utility this Canon uses is also an easy to use once you have figured it out. When I was reviewing the other reviews before my purchase I was a little turned off from one of the reviews that mentioned the printer turns off automatically and that makes wireless printing a problem. I didn’t think I would really mind that but after a few times of having to go over to the printer to turn it back on, I was a bit put off by the auto turn off function. So after reading the online owners manual the factory default is set to auto power off, I have now disabled this feature it is no longer an issue. I basically use this printer for document printing in the lowest quality setting and it does a great job for that.
