Pros & Cons
Pros
- Versatile Media Support: The printer handles a wide range of media sizes and types, including 11×17 (A3) paper, legal-sized documents, and direct printing onto CD/DVD discs.
- High Print Quality: Users consistently report sharp, professional-looking text and excellent photo quality with accurate colors, often surpassing commercial printing services.
- Individual Ink Cartridges: The five-cartridge system allows users to replace only the specific colors that run out, and many reviewers successfully used more affordable third-party ink refills.
Cons
- Inconvenient Manual Design: A major point of frustration is that the front operational panel and paper tray must be manually opened for the printer to function, making remote or unattended printing difficult.
- Unreliable Wireless Connectivity: Many reviewers experienced frequent Wi-Fi drops, difficulty connecting to 5G networks, and compatibility issues with modern security protocols like WPA3.
- Frequent Paper Jams: A significant number of users reported persistent paper jams and feeding errors, sometimes occurring immediately out of the box or requiring the machine to be moved to access the rear door.

Waste of $
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.CL December 23, 2025Review source: Amazonunpredictable, won’t print after paper size change unless reboot computer and turn off printer power, useless, says there is no paper when there is paper, shows wrong error messages. Worthless.

Literally the worst printer I've ever owned…
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.John Wells December 9, 2025Review source: AmazonThis is literally the worst printer I’ve ever owned.
EVERY time I use it, I have to troubleshoot why I can’t print.
I believe it has something to do with going Idle. If not used for a while, it powers some features down, but this is somehow causing it to NOT come back up when I need it.
To fix, I have to Remove the printer and then Add the printer back. -
Highly recommend- easy to use

Excellent Printer
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Dave J. December 2, 2025Review source: AmazonPurchased this printer 1/18/25 to replace a Canon printer that died. I specifically needed a printer that would print on DVD discs. This printer does an excellent job on discs as well as paper. I’ve printed on regular paper, photo paper and DVD disc without any paper jams or other problems. I use third party ink without any problems and the draft printing is very legible. The automatic document feed works fine as does the duplex printing.

Open Drawers
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.JimM November 14, 2025Review source: BestbuyNice printer, rate it 5 stars on performance, but I have to give it 3 stars because you must manually open the front panel and paper tray to use it. If you are printing remotely and they are not open it won’t print. At the very least Canon should make that clear in their description on the machine,

Can't get the ink cartridges in
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.S-GV November 7, 2025Review source: AmazonPerhaps it’s me, but I can’t get the ink cartridges into the printer and I followed the directions. Not a problem with other printers. it doesn’t open up enough to get my hand in — just my fingers which doesn’t work. I’ve tried several times w/out success. Not good

If it works, it great
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.David A Van Deman November 5, 2025Review source: AmazonWorked great for a month, then screeched and died.
Seriously, I’ve always liked Canon printers, this is my third one and all went great until about a month in it made a load screeching sound at the start of a print and sent me through this error screen to check for “debris or blockage around thebprint head”. There was nothing, and eventually it started working again after unplugging it and restarting it about 10 times.
It’s now another couple months later and it happened again, and this time it’s staying in full error mode. The print head moves freely through the full range…there’s no blockage, but it doesn’t get past this start up error.
Very frustrated that a new printer would have this much trouble.

Nice Printer
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Lizzie November 2, 2025Review source: BestbuyMy old Canon printer (it was 12 years old) so ordered this one to replace it. Nice printer. I just have to remember to open the paper slot for the copies to come out – the last one opened automatically.
