I picked up this printer a few weeks ago so that we could send photos via mail to an elderly parent who can’t use a computer. This printer is pretty amazing! Definitely as good as drug store prints, and really convenient. I’m using it with an iPhone 13 and it connects and prints fine with the app. I also use an iPad Air and my only issue with that is the app is not orientation-aware so you have to use it in portrait mode.

Be advised you need to go ahead and buy a set of refills when you buy the printer. It comes with enough supplies for only 8 prints. At around $35 for 108 prints you end up with a per print cost of 33 cents a piece, which is a bargain!

My only other minor ding has to do with the battery option. You can buy a battery for portable operation but it’s $90! For that price you be better off buying one of those portable power packs with an AC outlet and use that instead.

The images included show a test print from an AI-generated portrait. The colors are straight out of the phone unretouched. Great print quality!

This little unit prints beautiful photos from your phone very quickly. There’s an app (“Epson Selphy”) which you need to install and do a one-time setup where you can the 2D-barcode on the printer’s display. After that, every time you wish to print, the phone asks if you wish to join the printer’s wifi network, then transfers the photos to the printer (very quick), then automatically reverts back to the former wifi network. It works well enough, occasionally doesn’t connect and must be retried, but is much faster than bluetooth. The printing itself is surprisingly fast and the print quality is astounding. Also, the photos come out dry to touch and have a thin plastic coating, so can be handled immediately. The two tabs at the ends of the photo break away easily, leaving you with an old-style photo like you’d get from developing film. As with all printers, the cost is in the consumables rather than the hardware, so check the refill packet prices so you know what you’re getting into but the cost is approx. 3 prints/$1 which I think is affordable so long as the printer continues to work for several hundred photos. Note that the paper+ink included with the printer only allow you to print 2 or 3 photos, so order a refill packet with your printer.

This is my third selphy printer. The first one was great, I replaced it with the cp1200 which died the other day all I get is the Canon splash screen. So I ordered this one although the cp1300 is still available. This one is a little cheaper and the cp1300 but the 1500 is the newest model. I have had major problems connecting this thing to my PC through my router. I guess I will have to call Cannon and see if they can help. Canon will not offer you any help unless you register the printer with them. The one thing I did not like about this printer is the USB connector is for the newest style small USB so if you have an older USB with your photos on it or you want to connected directly to the PC you can’t do it without some type of an adapter. It also doesn’t have any of the adjustment buttons on it like the older ones do so all the adjustments will have to either be done on screen, if available, or on the PC if you can get it connected. It seems they made this one mostly to connect to your phone which is a great idea although I also wanted to connect to my PC. If you go on the Canon website there are no drivers for this printer so you can’t download the drivers to get it to connect. I will contact Canon about my issues, but I may return this and just try to find the cp1300 which is going for $99 on other sites. I contacted Cannon and they could not help me connect it to the PC. They pretty much said it was made mostly for connections to phones. There are no drivers for it on the Canon site. So I purchased the cp1300 and there are drivers for that I installed it and I have no problems with it. So this one is going back

CAUTION! It Prints OK, but watch out for the paper sizes - NON-STANDARD.

So I bought this for the wife to eliminate all the photo printing tasks I was getting and performing. Printing photos on my HP ink jet works but requires pulling the try and filling with the appropriate size photo paper – 4×3, 3×5, 4×6, ect. Well this little printer seemingly works just fine BUT it won’t take the “standard” size photo papers one might buy at Staples or online. The 4×6 inch paper supplied with the printer and from Amazon is not U.S.A. standard size. It actually measures 177 mm x 100 mm. I tried printing a photo using “standard” USA photo size of 4×6 (102 mm x 152 mm) with no success. I’m not in the market for a printer that requires “special” paper with a “special” price. Caution!

Bought this as my first dedicated photo printer thinking it would be an upgrade to the well reviewed CP1300. Unfortunately this printer seems to be ridden with issues that its predecessor didn’t have.

I was unable to setup the WiFi for it, presumably due to a defect. Without WiFi there’s no way to use the printer.

Things I attempted:
– Configuring the WiFi on the printer for it to connect to my home router. After painstakingly inputting the password through the onscreen keyboard it never was able to connect to my 2.4GHz WPA2 home network.
– Connecting directly to the printer using its ad-hoc WiFi didn’t work either. My devices (located right next to the printer) would only very occasionally see its network, but would never successfully connect to it. Tried with a desktop, laptop and an iPhone, same results.
– Also attempted to use Canon’s SELPHY app on my iPhone, which basically is a shortcut for the previous method using a QR for the app to set things up, but it also failed to connect.

Attempted to contact Canon’s phone support line, but at the time of this writing, their automated call dialog options make you provide a model number and the system does not seem to recognize the SELPHY CP1500. Tried to talk to an agent by providing CP1300 as the model number, but then it requires you to have the product registered with them.

As I did not want to spend my time registering a product I would most likely have to return I gave up and just proceeded to return it. At this point I’m left wondering whether to give it another try and order a new one or try to get the older CP1300.

I definitely think this is worth the money… the amount of print/image quality is immaculate, it even prints super fast.

Easy to setup and start printing…I use this to take photos of cars or architecture and hang my prints of what I take photos of.

Good connectivity.

I’ll say this is good just for the fact that you get ur pics instantly at the convenience of ur home. the quality is not that bad. I’ll say 70% . I only bought this to give a friend in Africa thinking it comes with battery. Not knowing it’s a separate deal. Nevertheless, it’s a nice device.

I needed to make small color photos at home. I was thinking about possibly a Polaroid camera but when I have used them I wasn’t thrilled with the sharpness, contrast and color. In the wire cutter review of instant cameras, they mentioned that a phone and this printer is a strong alternative to the Polaroid cameras. I bought it. I love it. I would not want one of the Polaroid cameras.

Both cost and quality are much better on this printer than on a Polaroid type system. The images look better than the inkjet type prints that I get at CVS.

The Canon app works well for making multiple wallet sized images. The sharpness and color is excellent. Dye sublimation is better than inkjet. The ink doesn’t dry out and is not water soluble. It’s crazy how inexpensive this printer and the consumables are. For the common requirement of a 4×6 or smaller print, I would choose this over an inkjet any day.

High quality prints at home

This is definitely one of the most cost effective ways to print out your photos at home. Prints are pretty high resolution and the colors are solid, you really can’t ask for more at this price tag. I’m pleased with my purchase and will continue to use this moving forward.

Improved, SELPHY, but needs better driver software!

SELPHY printers are capable of producing very high quality 148mm X100mm (5.83 inch X 3.93 inch) dye-transfer prints. This CP1500 is slightly (about 10%) faster than my previous CP-1200 and CP-1300 versions as well as having a smaller footprint. It also FINALLY cures a long standing Canon SELPHY issue by not wasting a set of dye films every time the printer is powered up. If you just print a few prints at a time this can dramatically reduce the amount of dye-film being wasted.
