I can’t say enough good things about this coffee maker. It has so many plusses. When making coffee by grounding beans, you get the freshest taste. This machine holds two or three days of beans, so no need to grind beans daily. It has a built in burr mill and results in a good fine grind. There are 6 different serving sizes that you can adjust to your needs, with adjustable strength. The over-ice feature is a plus. Overall, it all results in a wonderful, delicious cup of freshly brewed coffee. I’m thrilled with it. Easy five stars for me. Priced fairly.

We stopped using a burr grinder machine years ago for single cup coffee making and don’t like the waste and expense of K-cup single cup makers. But we always missed how great freshly ground coffee was. THIS machine does exactly what we want. Single cup making with 6 sizes, including iced, cups, sealed storage for beans, a water reservoir and very logical and efficient coffee making. Size is efficient….It fit under our cupboards, and takes no more width and depth than a single cup ground coffee maker we have been using. You can use the permanent basket filter or use disposable paper filters.

    Minor issues:
    1. The lettering for cup sizes and functions is black on chrome, perhaps a thicker font would be used in a future iteration, as glare from kitchen lighting means the lettering is not as visible as it could be. NOT a deal breaker in the slightest.
    2. The instruction manual says press the on and brew button to turn on and off. I fact,as the video shows, you have to long press the button to turn the device off if you want to force an “off”. You will figure that out, but the manual could be a little more specific in a future printing.

That’s it for concerns. Which means practically this is very, very good as a coffee making appliance! Fast brewing, ground beans, water reservoir, easy use, multiple cup sizes including iced, ability to use ground coffee, which is great if you have decaf family members or guests, and very very good quality brewed coffee. Excellent product.

This review is coming from the perspective of someone who has used a standard drip coffeemaker, mostly with pre-ground beans, for years.

So as to not bury the lede: this coffee maker brews a good cup of coffee, and has some smart and convenient features I appreciate, but there’s been a little adjustment period related to switching to this style of coffee maker that I hadn’t fully anticipated.

I love the water tank on this. Trying to fill the coffee pot with just the right amount of water, when I’ve just rolled out of bed and can barely see or think was always a chore. With the water tank and the cup-size selection on this device, the only thing I need to worry about is that there’s water in the tank. If I have to refill, the tank easily detaches from the back, or you can be extra lazy like me and pull the sprayer from your sink over and fill it up in place. This coffee maker takes care of measuring out your water and grounds, just keep the bean hopper full.

The reusable filter basket works well. I’m used to paper filters and you will notice a little bit of sediment at the bottom of your cup when using the metal filter, but it’s not enough to be bothersome to me. You can use 4-cup sized paper filters if you wish – the package even included a couple. I have again opted for laziness and have just been using the metal filter. Thankfully, this coffee maker also knows if you have forgotten to empty the filter before you try to brew your next cup of coffee – a feature that has already saved me more times than I’d care to admit. Thankfully, the filter is easy to clean. Just dump and rinse.

When this coffee maker first arrived I still had some pre-ground coffee to use up, and I was happy to see there is a setting that will allow for this. Of course, you measure out the grounds yourself, directly into the filter, and select the appropriate cup size (amount of water) and together these determine your brew strength. It took me a surprising amount of experimentation to get the grounds and water ratios right to where I was brewing a cup of coffee that was similar to what my old coffee pot was producing. I don’t think this is going to be a problem for many people; if you are buying this coffee maker you should be using whole beans.

Finally, if you’re coming from a coffee pot this is going to change some of your habits around coffee. I am still getting used to it. I am used to pouring my first mug, drinking 2/3 of it, noticing it’s getting too cold, and topping off from the coffee pot that’s still hot from sitting on its hot plate. Maybe later I find myself with a half cup of cold coffee, top up with cold coffee, and reheat in the microwave. When everything is a cup at a time, it doesn’t work like that. I also can’t easily brew a thermos full of coffee to last me the whole day. That’s something I did rarely enough that I can live without it, but if you do so frequently this probably isn’t for you. Also be aware that your existing thermos or insulated mug may not fit under the brew basket. The documentation says there’s 7 inches of clearance with the drip tray removed, in reality there’s a little less – maybe 6.75 inches. I will be on the lookout for a short insulated cup so I can have a hot cup of coffee to the end every time.

And of course, this coffee maker is best for folks where everyone in the household is happy to drink the same brew. If you like dark roast, but your wife wants light roast or decaf, you’ll probably want a pod machine.

It’s worth noting that all these features are packed into footprint that is only very slightly bigger than my old coffeemaker. A bit taller, but fits under the cabinets, looks good, and does not take up any more precious limited counter space. I’m very happy with it so far.

I am happy to own my Cuisinart Custom Grind and Brew Single Cup Coffee Maker! It’s very easy to use and allows me to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee just the way I like it. The built-in stainless steel burr mill ensures a perfect grind every time, and the Over Ice feature is a nice bonus. I appreciate that it eliminates the need for disposable pods, making it a much better choice for the environment. Plus, the price is very competitive for the quality and features it offers.

    I’m really impressed!

    Pros:
    • Solidly built and high-quality coffee machine that looks great on my kitchen counter
    • Comes with a built-in burr grinder, letting me enjoy freshly brewed coffee straight from the beans; no need to grind separately
    • Delivers delicious coffee with optimal brewing temperature and built-in water filtration that helps with tap water hardness
    • The iced coffee feature is a winner; the result tastes fantastic

    Cons:
    • Brewing takes a bit longer since it drips more slowly, but it’s not a big issue and doesn’t affect my rating. Otherwise, no cons so far

I love coffee. I have a cappuccino maker and the coffee is good, but I really wanted a single brew maker that used whole beans for a fresher taste. This Cuisinart Coffee Maker does just that. It is a convenient way to make really good coffee as the grinder holds several days worth of beans and it only grinds enough to do one cup. The grounds are easy to remove and the filter is a permanent one, so you just rinse it out. No waste like those individual pods. Even when it’s grinding, it is quiet and the water tank does not leak. I am very happy with the taste of coffee in this machine.

If you are tired of the pod life and want a smooth bold cup of coffee without the plastic waste, this whole bean grinding coffee make is just what you need. Pour the whole beans in the hopper on the top of the machine (they are kept fresh by a seal on the rim) press the desired strength and cup size buttons and you’ve got a fresh, flavorful cup of coffee. The cup stand adjusts to accommodate small or large cups with ease. Cleaning is a breeze with the gold mesh filter basket-just dump the grounds, rinse, and you’re ready to brew again. Love this Cuisinart coffee maker!

If you like drip coffee maybe this is for you but be aware this is not a pressurized extractor like an expresso machine. It simply grinds the beans and runs hot water over the grounds which is fine if that’s what you wanted. It was not enough for us to keep it and definitely not what I had in mind when I bought it.

I don’t drink coffee a lot, but when I do it’s almost always bought, or instant coffee because dealing with beans, measuring, grinding, tamping, filters, pods, etc etc not to mention cleaning seems such a hassle.
Had a coffee pot as a gift a long time ago. Barely used it and ended up using it more as a kettle for making my instant coffee. I do miss the flavor of a fresh brewed cup of coffee sometimes and that’s when I splurge and get a ready made cup.

This thing seems to solve a lot of my complaints as it’s a complete functionality all-in-one machine. Fill with water to capacity, pour in beans, and then just select a cup size and it handles all the measuring, grinding, heating, pouring, and filtering for you. Cleanup, while I still don’t like to do it, isn’t nearly as bad, since it’s just dumping the grounds into the compost and rinsing out the reusable filter cup.
As long as you keep using it, the grinder will stay clean with fresh beans forcing out the old bits of ground.

Really quite impressed with the quality of the machine, and it’s relatively compact for everything it does.
