Pros & Cons
Pros
- Easy to Use and Clean: Many reviewers highlight the machine's straightforward operation, intuitive controls, and simple setup, making it ideal for beginners. It is also frequently noted for being easy to clean, including removable parts like the drip tray and water tank.
- Quality Espresso and Crema: Customers consistently praise the machine for producing delicious, rich, and strong espresso with a thick, velvety crema, often comparing the quality favorably to coffee shop beverages. The 15-bar Italian pump is mentioned as contributing to optimal extraction.
- Compact and Attractive Design: The espresso machine is frequently complimented for its sleek, modern, and compact design, which fits well on countertops without taking up much space. Its stainless steel and chrome finish contribute to an appealing aesthetic.
Cons
- Inconsistent Temperature and Slow Cycling: Several users report that the espresso is not hot enough, and the milk frother may not heat milk adequately. There are also complaints about long wait times when switching between brewing and steaming functions, or when making multiple drinks back-to-back, as the machine can overheat or require a cooling cycle.
- Plastic Taste/Smell and Material Concerns: A significant number of reviews mention a persistent toxic plastic smell or taste emanating from the water tank or other plastic components. Concerns are raised about hot coffee passing through plastic and the use of aluminum in the portafilter instead of stainless steel.
- Frother and Portafilter Issues: The milk frother is often criticized for producing large, airy bubbles instead of fine microfoam, or for being difficult to control and use effectively. The portafilter is noted for being cheaply made, having a small diameter (51mm) which limits accessories, leaving wet coffee pucks, or being challenging to lock into the machine.

The sleek design looks great on my counter. The pressure guage is nice but it lacks numbered markers. Sadly after a week I had to reset the machine because it wouldn’t pull a shot. I hope this isn’t a reoccuring issue. For my next machine I’m eyeing a manual one like the flair to avoid electronics issues. Still, when it works, its great.

After many cleanings the plastic porous water reservoir makes coffee taste/smell like chemicals.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Colleen C. April 12, 2025Review source: AmazonI’ve had this machine for several weeks and cleaned/used, ran vinegar through the water tank.
The smell and taste is terrible, the water reservoir is made from porous plastic. It makes the coffee taste and overwhelming smell of chemical plastic.
I tried washing /soaking/cleaning with vinegar and still cannot get rid of the cheap plastic water tank smell!!!!!
The machine looks beautiful but the coffee quality is so disappointing. you cannot get rid of the chemical plastic taste and smell. -

Attractive product that gets the job done.
Florida Gal April 11, 2025Review source: AmazonI love De’Longhi products and own a very high end one for my kitchen. This smaller version is for our guest suite, making morning espresso’s accessible for house guests without trouping through the entire house.
First thing I noticed that confused me was the pressure gauge, it has no numbers on it! So, I can see relative pressure, but not actual pressure; Strange to me. Also, the basket and portafilter feel very light weight; Surprising for a De’Longhi.
It has a large water tank, so you don’t have to add water for every brew. I especially like this as my entry level espresso maker had a single serving reservoir and I often would run out of steam before getting my milk frothed. No worries of that with this model. There is a RED tab on the bottom of the water tank that needs to be removed before using. (not the red plastic in the drip tray, on the back at the bottom of the water tank) The milk steaming arm has a panarello, which heats the milk up and makes it bubbly enough for a Macciato or Latte, but not quite as creamy as you might want for a cappuccino. However, there are videos online for ways to compensate for that. I have not tried it, because it’s not that important to me.
Overall, this is a very nice quality espresso machine, very attractive, that functions well.
