Pros & Cons
Pros
- Easy to Use and Clean: Many reviewers highlight the machine's straightforward operation, intuitive controls, and simple setup, making it ideal for beginners. It is also frequently noted for being easy to clean, including removable parts like the drip tray and water tank.
- Quality Espresso and Crema: Customers consistently praise the machine for producing delicious, rich, and strong espresso with a thick, velvety crema, often comparing the quality favorably to coffee shop beverages. The 15-bar Italian pump is mentioned as contributing to optimal extraction.
- Compact and Attractive Design: The espresso machine is frequently complimented for its sleek, modern, and compact design, which fits well on countertops without taking up much space. Its stainless steel and chrome finish contribute to an appealing aesthetic.
Cons
- Inconsistent Temperature and Slow Cycling: Several users report that the espresso is not hot enough, and the milk frother may not heat milk adequately. There are also complaints about long wait times when switching between brewing and steaming functions, or when making multiple drinks back-to-back, as the machine can overheat or require a cooling cycle.
- Plastic Taste/Smell and Material Concerns: A significant number of reviews mention a persistent toxic plastic smell or taste emanating from the water tank or other plastic components. Concerns are raised about hot coffee passing through plastic and the use of aluminum in the portafilter instead of stainless steel.
- Frother and Portafilter Issues: The milk frother is often criticized for producing large, airy bubbles instead of fine microfoam, or for being difficult to control and use effectively. The portafilter is noted for being cheaply made, having a small diameter (51mm) which limits accessories, leaving wet coffee pucks, or being challenging to lock into the machine.

Excellent Espresso machine and looks very modern
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.MarkusMN March 4, 2025Review source: BestbuyI’ll start with the design and appearance of this amazing Espresso machine. It is built like a tank and looks amazing on my coffee bar. The machine is so simple and easy to use and operate, and everything works flawlessly.
The unit heats up quickly and there is almost zero wait time for an incredible smooth and foamy espresso drink. The coffee is incredibly strong and robust and I couldn’t be happier. The frother wand is adjustable and makes for a wonderful top layer to the brew. I have used it with commercial creamers, almond creamers, and heavy whipping cream. All of them came out wonderful. The tip is removable for easy cleanup.
Be careful with your cup sizes, as there is not a lot of clearance between the base of the unit and the dispenser. I would stick with 3 ½ inches tall to be safe.
I have only used the double shot basket, but it does include a single shot basket. I like my coffee strong and it is plenty strong.
As a note of caution, the water tank comes with a stopper installed that will not hold water. Be sure to remove that plug prior to filling it up and installing it, as it is not leak proof with that stopper.
This is a fine machine for a very reasonable price. It looks amazing and works very well. I like this better than other models I have owned.

Espresso and Lattes at your Home
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.stanmed March 4, 2025Review source: BestbuyI am an avid coffee lover and enjoy a refreshing cup of espresso every morning. I have been using De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine for a month now and I can definitely recommend this machine to anyone who loves coffee. I understand some people prefer to invest over a thousand dollars for a professional espresso extractor, however I truly believe this De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine is all you need to enjoy a single or double espresso, cappuccino or latte. Here are a few points that I would like to emphasize about this particular machine:
1. Extraction – I believe it is the most important part of your drink, which makes or breaks it. According to the manufacturer this espresso machine features a 15-bar Italian professional pump which delivers consistent 9-bar extraction. The quality of your espresso depends on that pressure and in my every day tasting experience – this machine delivered great results and my espresso always came out velvety and smooth.
2. Temperature control – thanks to its Thermoblock technology, it provides fast, stable, and precise temperature control for perfect brewing. I really like that De’Longhi utilized the old time chrome-detailed pressure gauge instead of using a digital display. It makes it look cool in the kitchen!
3. Space saver – this machine is definitely takes very minimal space on your counter and stainless steel will match your other appliances like it is the case in my kitchen.
4. Flexible frother – always makes my milk steamed well and also creates nice foam for lattes.
5. Accessories – everything you need is provided from a portafilter, tamper to filter baskets. So if you like a barista style coffee and want to save your money (just think – this machine will pay for itself if you used to spend hundreds of dollars a year at your Starbucks) – this machine is for you!

Good beginner's foray
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.sollyp March 4, 2025Review source: BestbuyI have long been a fan of De’Longhi’s espresso machines and have owned several in the past, ranging in different price ranges. This model is definitely on the lower end of the price range so I don’t want to make outlandish claims that this will make mindblowing espresso. Coffee snobs may not be happy but, I think this machine does provide good value.
Right off the bat, the build quality at least looks more solid than lower-priced counterparts. It is a mix of stainless steel and plastic that is artfully done in my opinion. Still, only time will tell how long it lasts. It is compact and sleek so it should definitely look good in any modern kitchen.
Setup is always straightforward with De’Longhi machines as long as you follow the instructions. If you have never used an espresso machine before, then there might a slight learning curve but I promise the included manual is great and helpful for troubleshooting things. The espresso quality is good and consistent. If you are making multiple batches, I have noticed that it will overheat so be aware and plan accordingly.
All in all, this is a good value espresso machine for anyone looking to foray into the espresso world and not drop thousands.

Wow! This is great!
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.MKLight March 4, 2025Review source: BestbuyTL;DR:
SETUP: Plug it in and you’re ready to go (initial set-up info below).
USE: It heats up quickly and is quick to switch between breeding and steaming.
USABILITY: It’s quick and easy to use. Brewing is easy. I had to learn how to use the frother (basically just pay attention 🙂 ).
OVERALL: I love it. I feel like I’m making professional espresso drinks at home. I like the single-use espresso systems for running out the door, but the De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine ups the quality.I was looking for an espresso machine as a friend of mine makes the best espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes. I wanted something similar, but without the restaurant-sized machine. It’s about the size of a regular coffee brewer (relatively compact), the style is very attractive, it has a frother, and can use either pre-ground or freshly ground beans.
Setting up is easy. Make sure you have all the parts and clean them. Then prime the machine. Add water to the water reservoir, run water through the system (basically brew the system with just water) to clean out anything that may be in the machine from the manufacturing process, and then you’re good to go for the real stuff. Grind the beans of your choice, fill and pack the filter with the appropriate amount of grounds into the portafilter, tamp the grounds smooth and flat, and brew! It may take a time or 2 to get the results you want, but it’s pretty simple. My first brew was great and has improved since. Frothing milk is pretty fun and I feel like a barista when I do it!
If you like espresso drinks, this is the machine for you! I love it!

solid machine.
A March 3, 2025Review source: AmazonGreat machine. easy to work with and use. Good for a beginner to get started but also a decent option for a barista looking to add a small setup to their home. Milk frother works better than I expected it would. Get your grind right and you’ll be all set with this machine.

BEST Espresso Machine Ever
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.D1maddog1 March 3, 2025Review source: BestbuyI’ve drank espresso and other espresso drinks (latte, cappuccino, cold brew) for decades, and have bought them. I’ve wanted an espresso machine of my own for a really long time, but was intimidated about being able to make what I wanted. So this machine is just perfect! I’ve made at home exactly what I’ve bought for years, at the same or better quality, but at a lower price.
This machine is really easy, and the instructions are very well-written. The instructions even describe how to make lattes and cappuccinos, and how to froth the milk. I couldn’t be more satisfied. The machine doesn’t take up much counter space either, and it includes an attached water tank in the rear.
I think this espresso machine is perfect for the beginner, as well as the home barista. If there is anything to master, it is making sure the espresso bean grounds are tamped enough into the portafilter (the handled part that holds the grounds during brewing) and the technique to froth the milk. Both activities are ‘mastered after doing them 2-3 times.
It comes with two different-sized metal filter inserts, one for a single espresso shot, and one for a double shot. There is a plastic scoop included for grounds; one scoop for a single espresso shot and two for a double shot. See the picture I have of the pressure gauge, as it shows the optimal steam pressure. When you tamp the grounds tight enough the needle of the pressure gauge lands in the optimal zone so even during brewing, you can judge the quality / strength of the resulting espresso. The steam nozzle has two positions, one for making steamed milk, and one for frothing milk.
If I would have known it was this easy, I would have bought this a long time ago. I have peace of mind that the DeLonghi name has been around for a long time and is known for the quality of their espresso machines. The only ‘Con’ is the plastic scoop / tamper. When tamping, it does tend to torque (twist); at some point I’ll likely but a metal one. Really, everything else is great.

Easy-to-use And Elegant Machine
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.buckbabes March 2, 2025Review source: BestbuyFor the past week, I’ve been testing the DeLonghi Linea Classic Espresso machine. Overall, I find it to be an easy-to-use and elegant machine that comes with all the necessary tools for crafting perfect espresso.
The stainless steel and chrome finish of the DeLonghi Linea provides a stylish and high-end appearance to my kitchen counter. Some of the most compelling features include the look, feel, and operability of the buttons, steam knob, and pressure gauge. The portafilter and filter baskets feature exceptional craftsmanship, to provide consistent pressure for optimal extraction. Also, I loved the convenience of the removable water tank.
In terms of performance, the Linea heated up rapidly and generated hot steam within seconds of pressing the steam button. For espresso brewing, it similarly reached operational temperature and pressure quickly with just a press of a button. Whether brewing a single or double shot, it consistently produced some of the thickest crema I have observed from a consumer-grade machine. Every shot of espresso it produced was tasty, fragrant, and consistent in texture. Additionally, this product is very easy to clean- from coffee grounds being easily removed from the filter to the portafilter that can be cleaned simply with a stream of water.
With that said, I would highly recommend this espresso machine if you are looking for a sophisticated, yet compact product that brews high-quality espresso.

Compact Without Losing Functionality and Quality
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.jailoliv March 2, 2025Review source: BestbuyWe’ve had D’Longhi Espresso machines before and we never disliked any of them, but maybe because we are getting older and have become more critical about this type of machine, we decided to look for a more compact one as how much space they take is very important to us. This offers that compactness, but most importantly it is that you lose nothing in terms of functionality when compared to bigger ones.
Like other high-end Espresso, the result is comparable to what you get in the best coffee shops. I got the perfect shot just out of the box. No especial preparation, no learning curve involved except for the milk frother wand which can make either steamed milk or smooth velvety micro foam. To be more precise here, when I say out of the box, please bear in mind that you need to prime both the machine and milk frother before you use them.
Very smooth tasting espresso shot, especially when using high quality roasted coffee beans that have been freshly grounded. Don’t expect great results with low quality beans. This machine is excellent, but it doesn’t seem to do magic although it will probably make a better espresso even with the lowest quality beans. The 15 bar Italian pressure pump helps deliver that perfect shot each time. Not much of a learning curve here and you can brew either a single or a double espresso.
Overall, I rated it five stars, but not everything is perfect. One of the things that I was disappointed at was the tamper which is made of cheap plastic. Really? I can’t understand why. But for the price and efficiency, it is a great buy and both my wife and I recommend it.

Amazingly Simple Espresso Machine
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Shaun March 1, 2025Review source: BestbuyI was initially drawn to this espresso machine’s unique design. The pressure dial, with its subtle steampunk style and metallic finish, adds a nice touch to my kitchen.
Beyond looks, the functionality is well-thought-out. The removable drip tray is great for accommodating larger cups, especially when I’m making iced lattes. The removable water tank is conveniently located, and the water level indicator is a nice touch. The included portafilter with two filter baskets means I can easily adjust for single or double shots. The machine is also user-friendly, with intuitive buttons.
When it comes to frothing milk, this machine does a solid job. The steam wand heats up quickly, and the two texture settings are genuinely useful. I’ve been able to create both silky, steamed milk for lattes and a nice, thick froth for cappuccinos. Even with almond milk, which can be tricky, it produced a decent foam. Cleaning the wand afterwards is quick, which is a definite plus.
The brewing process itself is straightforward. The heating system gets it up to temperature quickly, which is great for the mornings when I’m in a hurry. I preheat, prepare the portafilter, and engage the brew cycle. The pressure dial provides helpful feedback during extraction. The espresso is consistently rich and strong, with a good crema. So far, it’s been pulling shots at optimal pressure, and I appreciate the ability to personalize my shots.
Overall, this espresso machine is easy to use, easy to clean, and consistently produces high-quality espresso. I use it daily, primarily for iced espresso, and I’m satisfied with its performance. The stainless steel body feels like it will last, and the included features, like the removable drip tray and water tank, make it a convenient and reliable addition to my kitchen.
