Pros & Cons
Pros
- Easy to Use and Clean: Many reviewers highlight the machine's straightforward operation, intuitive controls, and simple setup, making it ideal for beginners. It is also frequently noted for being easy to clean, including removable parts like the drip tray and water tank.
- Quality Espresso and Crema: Customers consistently praise the machine for producing delicious, rich, and strong espresso with a thick, velvety crema, often comparing the quality favorably to coffee shop beverages. The 15-bar Italian pump is mentioned as contributing to optimal extraction.
- Compact and Attractive Design: The espresso machine is frequently complimented for its sleek, modern, and compact design, which fits well on countertops without taking up much space. Its stainless steel and chrome finish contribute to an appealing aesthetic.
Cons
- Inconsistent Temperature and Slow Cycling: Several users report that the espresso is not hot enough, and the milk frother may not heat milk adequately. There are also complaints about long wait times when switching between brewing and steaming functions, or when making multiple drinks back-to-back, as the machine can overheat or require a cooling cycle.
- Plastic Taste/Smell and Material Concerns: A significant number of reviews mention a persistent toxic plastic smell or taste emanating from the water tank or other plastic components. Concerns are raised about hot coffee passing through plastic and the use of aluminum in the portafilter instead of stainless steel.
- Frother and Portafilter Issues: The milk frother is often criticized for producing large, airy bubbles instead of fine microfoam, or for being difficult to control and use effectively. The portafilter is noted for being cheaply made, having a small diameter (51mm) which limits accessories, leaving wet coffee pucks, or being challenging to lock into the machine.

Elegant and classic design with De'Longhi quality
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Jordan February 28, 2025Review source: BestbuyI’m a big espresso/cappuccino guy, and I need to have something to get me through the day. So, it was only right that I picked up an espresso machine for my office.
With so many different options on the market, it isn’t easy trying to choose the right one. But with a name like De’Longhi, and for the right price, you can’t go wrong with the De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine.
The De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine is not only an elegant looking Espresso machine, but it is the perfect sice machine for my personal office. With a classis dial gauge design, and a brushed and chrome finish, the De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine really stands out in my office.
After properly cleaning things out before the first use, making my first cappuccino was a breeze. The steam wand works flawlessly and has two different settings to finetune the frothing experience to your personal liking.
When I need that extra push to help me get through the day, a quick espresso gets the job done. Best of all, I can make it all happen right in the comfort of my own office.
I would highly recommend the De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine.

Makes a Great Espresso
Peter February 28, 2025Review source: AmazonThis machine works perfectly and is easy to use. It is gorgeous to look at and nearly all of my friends have noticed/mentioned it sitting on the counter.
It is an easy machine to understand and use, although it does take a little muscle to get the coffee holder in and out of the machine. I make a double shot espresso each morning and the results are excellent and consistent.
The frother does exactly what it is supposed to do and once you do it a few times you will understand how to operate the machine.
I can find nothing to complain about. It is beautiful and makes great espresso, as home machines go.
Highly Recommended.

Very nice and compact espresso machine!
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Serv February 27, 2025Review source: BestbuyThis De’Longhi espresso machine fulfills its purpose in simple terms as it includes what is needed to prepare an espresso coffee at home and its many variants. It has a sleek yet compact design that doesn’t use too much space in the kitchen.
The box includes the espresso machine, a portafilter, two filters for single and double espresso, a tamper that is also the coffee measuring spoon, and an instruction manual in different languages.
The espresso machine is made partly of plastic and partly of stainless steel, on the front side are located the buttons for power, preparation of single and double espresso, and the milk frother, as well as the pressure gauge that measures the pressure at the time of preparation of espresso. On the right side is the knob to activate and deactivate the steam wand that is located next to where the coffee is prepared and is movable, this allows that, after using the machine and cleaning it, it can be placed on the inside so that it does not get in the way and/or get damage. At the bottom is the drip tray that has a metal grid, this tray is removable to place cups or taller containers if necessary. One observation I can make is that this drip tray grid is easily scratched when using porcelain cups, it does not cause me conflict but aesthetically it does not look quite right. Regarding the water, on the back is the water tank with 57 oz. capacity, it is easy to remove and refill, it can also be easily cleaned as it has a lid that opens just enough to be able to insert a cloth and clean in depth.
The performance of the machine is quite good, reaching the ideal temperatures to prepare espresso quickly. The extraction pressure is sufficient, 9-bar. The operating instructions are clear, the buttons are well-signaled and it is easy to clean. The brewing time is pre-set and has an auto stop, although this can be changed and the brewing time can also be controlled to taste. Milk drinks can be prepared with its easy-to-use steaming function.
Although the manual clearly explains the concepts of espresso preparation and its variants, the care of the device, certain settings, cleaning, and possible solutions to problems that may arise, I believe that knowing a little about the preparation of a good espresso, to the taste of each person as this could be subjective, is a determining factor in getting the most out of this espresso machine. The point is that, despite not having a display timer to measure the time, it is possible to control the espresso preparation time to find the ideal ratio to obtain the desired result. In this respect, it is clear that the choice of coffee and the fineness of the grind are a great differentiator, as well as the addition of a scale to measure the coffee ground and a metallic tamper can make the experience more pleasant. Preparing espresso coffee can become an art without exaggeration and adding one or another accessory can lead to enjoying an endless number of combinations of coffee beverages. What I want to say is that although the machine fulfills its purpose, by itself it could not deliver extraordinary results. It is important to explore the types of coffee, the grind, the flavors, the altitude, the region where it is grown, as well as the measurements in grams and milliliters of the different variants: cappuccino, latte, flat white, American, etc. Also, the different types of ratios and the consequences in the final result that affect its flavor, concentration, cream flavor and consistency, milk vaporization, and even how with a milk frothing pitcher you can make drawings in the coffee. This doesn’t mean that in order to buy this machine, which I think is a good product without a doubt, you have to be an expert, it means that acquiring a machine in this price range that provides interesting features, would be a good excuse to learn a little to enjoy a good espresso and why not, become an espresso artist.
For the price, design, and what this machine is capable of doing, I can recommend it.

For espresso break w/ pro alike experience
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.MigDigital February 27, 2025Review source: BestbuyReview of De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine
To start, “the” De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine (EM450M) out of box looks slim and neat look, giving that air of professional coffee maker.
With four push buttons, with pressure gauge display at front panel, then on the side with visible frother wand and dial all in metallic, it create like coffee connoisseur ambiance in small size.
Specific to functionalities, at front panel has:
– 1 Button for Single Espresso
– 1 Button for Double Espresso
– 1 Button to Power On/Off
– 1 Button to Steam or Descale
– Gauge Display
Then on the side include a dial to froth milk, and at side movable wand. From product description, De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine extract espresso with a 15-bar pump delivering 9-bar extraction, auto-stop based on type of coffee. It use specific temperature control technology “Thermoblock”, for perfect temperature.
The package includes:
– adjustable drip tray
– tamper and filter basket for single and double espresso
– portafilterNow, the process of making the expresso is similar to any other process with the same category of machine. But being specific to De’Longhi Classic Espresso Machine, to start after power one, it takes about 2 min or so to be ready, then less than a min to have the espresso extracted.
To steam the milk for capuccino, it takes about a min to warm or get ready and with the frother dial can make the nice foam.
In term of flavor, the first couple of expresso I made felt quite light watery, naturally this depend on the type of beans, but having used Peet’s Brazilian, and compared espresso made from a different brand with same bean, it felt short to the expectation.
But after several time of having repeated, it can feel smooth and deep bold flavor. On side note for when it is brewing, it create that brownish foam at the top as good espresso machines would do.
Going back to functionality, it can adjust the programming to make single or double espresso larger or not. The process is simple by pressing the single or double espresso button.
Then making the milk foam is not very different from simplicity. All needed is first to warm the machine, then place the wand in the milk container, and turn the frother dial.
In all of these steps, the gauge needle is good guidance to know the temperature.
What I wish it were better:
1. The hot water/steam nozzle within the silver wand is made of rubber. – For being a rubber but work with hot temperature, I feel bit odd of it while it goes to the liquid that I consume.
2. Material: the entire machine is made of plastic, feels as low quality machine. Also during placing the portafilter, need to be holding with another hand such that the machine doesn’t move in occasion.
3. The Portafilter is plastic as well. For one used to solid and metal one, doesn’t have the sense of holding good one.
4. Water tank:, it doesn’t have a handle or similar, it force to grab with both hands and bit awkward during process of removing the tank and placing back.Aside of the observations based on personal preference, it does acceptable good espresso, easy to have creamy and foam milk for that moment of break.

Really nice cappuccino and espresso machine.
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Todd February 27, 2025Review source: BestbuyI got this is my very first espresso and cappuccino machine not completely sure how difficult it would be. I was very happy to find out it’s not as difficult as I thought it was to make your own cappuccino or espresso.
I found myself leaning more heavy towards cappuccinos my local schnucks has quite a good selection of espresso and to make a cup you basically are making an espresso and then frothing 100 ml of milk with the cappuccino machine. It’s a little bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it you’re your own cappuccino barista.
My wife also enjoys the cappuccinos she’s just not fond of the process so usually I brew them up for the two of us and they’re pretty yummy for homemade I’m surprised how good they actually are. I now have my Keurig coffee machine as well as this expresso and cappuccino machine.
I love the stainless it looks high-end even though the price is fairly reasonable for what the product is. It does take a little extra space on the countertop but I don’t mind. For me the espresso is just a little too strong which is why I prefer the more sweeter cappuccino.
The machine is super easy to clean once you’re done I personally like the stainless I find it easier to clean than plastics. I would highly recommend this to anybody as a first time espresso and cappuccino maker if you’re already on the fence.

Easy to use, Easy to Clean, Great tasting Espresso
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.apalmo February 27, 2025Review source: BestbuyThis is my second espresso machine, the first one I had was also De’longhi but was a cheap model and was made of lots of plastic. Even though it was cheap the espresso it made was fantastic. This model of De’Longhi seems like a much better build and looks very nice on my counter. The only thing you will need when you open the box is coffee, milk, water, and a cup. De’Longhi gives you two different cup options, one cup or two. I just use the two cup one because I like espresso and found that one isn’t enough for me.
Setup was straight forward and was more just putting the pieces in place. I did a deep clean of everything before using. Make sure you follow the instructions to avoid frustration. When you initially turn on the machine you need to wait for the lights to stop flashing to make a cup of espresso. When you use the frothier you need to wait until the light is solid before it will work properly. Also you need to clear the frothier line of water before frothing milk. Also the steam is very hot and I burned my finger once on it, also I tried to adjust the frothier while using and touched the metal for the frothier and burnt my hand a second time. This is no fault of the machine but all on the users being me. So just be mindful not burn yourself like I did.
When I made my first cup of espresso it did not taste great, but that was because the grounds I used were older than I thought. I bought some new espresso and the taste is fantastic! Even without milk it was very creamy and smooth. I used half and half with the frothier and it easily doubled in size and made great froth for the top of my espresso. The frothier is easy to use and easy to clean. You can you easily pull of the metal end off the frothier and rinse it out. Then you can wipe down the rubber part that is under the metal frothier end. As for the rest of the machine I usually just dump the grounds and rinse everything and wipe down the machine with a towel. Easy to use and easy to clean, perfect for anyone!
I gave four stars because I thought the pressure gauge would allow you to manually adjust the pressure of the machine. I was incorrect and it’s basically there just for looks, I think a clock or something more useful would have been better but it does add to the look of the machine.
Overall I’m very happy with this machine and the coffee it produces. I love how simple and easy it is to use and how great tasting the espresso is. I can’t wait to have a family gathering and make espressos at home for everyone!

Brew Like a Pro
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Damian February 27, 2025Review source: BestbuyOkay, so I gotta say, this De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine is totally awesome. As a coffee lover myself, I’m always trying to make my drinks taste better and quicker, and this thing does the job. It’s made with stainless steel, so it looks super fancy in my kitchen and matches everything. The quality feels legit, like it’s gonna survive my morning rush for years. The instructions they give you is pretty straightforward, but don’t forget to prime it first—I almost did lol
One of my favorite things is the pressure gauge on the front. It’s cool ’cause you can see if your espresso is gonna be perfect or not. Plus, it can froth milk (or like almond or oat), which is great for lattes. The water tank holds alot, enough for like 4 cups before refilling, and it’s removable which make filling it up simple. Cleaning is easy too—just wipe the stainless steel with a cloth and the cup tray adjusts up and down? Such a nice touch for big mugs or tiny espresso glasses.
I’ve gotten so many compliments on it already and I’d totally tell anyone whose into coffee to get one. Only thing is, sometimes the steam wand drips a little after use, but whatever. For real, if you want cafe-quality drinks without leaving home, this machine’s worth it.

Elegance with ease
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Christopher February 26, 2025Review source: BestbuyI am an espresso and coffee fanatic, who recently had the opportunity to review the
De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine. All I can say is magnifico! This device delivers style, sophistication, and satiety in an easy to use and easy to clean setup.Out of the box, the large thermostat adorning the top center of the piece acts as a focal point for the stainless steel unit, which greets the user with an industrial sheik styling. The compact design allows this unit to fit snugly into my countertop space, which, in my tiny kitchen, is very valuable real estate. The setup is painless and even more straightforward if you have experience with like espresso makers. The digital and intuitive interface makes brewing any number of drink iterations simple and easy. Whereas I had previous experience with a home espresso maker, I was unfamiliar with De’Longhi’s Thermoblock technology, which seems to be a staple for rapid production. This allows the device to heat up the water fast and maintain that temperature for consecutive cups, so no one is left waiting. To me, this was such a winning me-over point with this device. My other unit takes forever to work, and then if you are making more than the reserve tank, it always takes longer to make those additional cups. With the Linea Classic, I can effortlessly switch between lattes and full-on espresso for our dinner guests. We have been using this for a bit now and will say that the advertising lives up because the pump does deliver a consistent pour time and time again. Another notable accessory is the adjustable frother. I like an espresso, but I love a latte or a cappuccino with good foam. Frothing is always a labor of love, but it is not hard to accomplish with this unit.
In conclusion, I was nothing short of impressed after spending several mornings and evenings with the De’Longhi Linea Classic Espresso Machine. The device exudes elegance and classic Italian styling, all while delivering an inspiringly flavorful espresso.

Simple, non-complicated, and great tasting results
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.JMan February 26, 2025Review source: BestbuyThe Delonghi EM450 arrived nearly completely pre-assembled. The only remaining assembly/prep was removing the packing tape and flushing the system before use. I’m glad I didn’t skip the flush step based on some of the concerning scents I detected during the flush process. Other than flushing, the only other step required to prepare the device was to fill the 57-ounce water tank, which I also hand washed before use. The machine requires a nearby AC outlet for power and be has a moderate counter space footprint.
The EM450 performs a quick self-diagnosis when powered on. Once the LEDs stop flashing, the machine is ready for use. Coffee grounds are placed inside the handled porta-filter which has two insertable metal filter basket inserts. A handy scoop with a tamper on the other end is provided to make filling the basket easier and more accurate. The two metal filter inserts are sized for single or double cup servings. They insert into the porta-filter which is then inserted onto the machine with the handle on the left, rotated outwards towards me and locked in place with the handle facing front. I then simply push a button for one serving or two and wait for the coffee to be dispensed. The pressure gauge allows me to monitor pressure in real time as coffee is prepared. The machine stops dispensing automatically once the selected amount is dispensed.
The taste and quality of the dispensed coffee is great. The temperature isn’t burn my tongue sizzling hot, but is deliciously hot enough for my tastes. Several factors can play into overall taste, but my experience with good quality, properly ground, espresso blends provides me with a smooth creamy cup of espresso with bold flavor and good crema. The machine has a milk frother can be used for more drink options. The machine can’t accommodate large cups, and I struggle to fit anything larger than 8oz mugs under the nozzle. We use small espresso cups when drinking it solo and making espresso shots to add to other coffees or teas.
The machine is easy to clean and maintain after use. The simplicity and ease of use along with simple maintenance serves my needs perfectly. I’ve tried much more expensive espresso machines in the past, but they proved to be overkill and were annoyingly complicated to use and maintain. I’m not a barista or coffee connoisseur. I simply like a good cup of coffee. I don’t need a bunch of fancy features and programmability that I will seldom use. This Delonghi is beyond sufficient for making tasty and quick stand alone espressos or espresso shots. It has everything I need and nothing I don’t. I find it almost as quick and easy to use as a K cup machine and I’m more than happy with the results.
