Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Easy to Use and Clean: Many reviewers highlight the machine's straightforward operation, intuitive controls, and simple setup, making it ideal for beginners. It is also frequently noted for being easy to clean, including removable parts like the drip tray and water tank.
  • Quality Espresso and Crema: Customers consistently praise the machine for producing delicious, rich, and strong espresso with a thick, velvety crema, often comparing the quality favorably to coffee shop beverages. The 15-bar Italian pump is mentioned as contributing to optimal extraction.
  • Compact and Attractive Design: The espresso machine is frequently complimented for its sleek, modern, and compact design, which fits well on countertops without taking up much space. Its stainless steel and chrome finish contribute to an appealing aesthetic.

Cons

  • Inconsistent Temperature and Slow Cycling: Several users report that the espresso is not hot enough, and the milk frother may not heat milk adequately. There are also complaints about long wait times when switching between brewing and steaming functions, or when making multiple drinks back-to-back, as the machine can overheat or require a cooling cycle.
  • Plastic Taste/Smell and Material Concerns: A significant number of reviews mention a persistent toxic plastic smell or taste emanating from the water tank or other plastic components. Concerns are raised about hot coffee passing through plastic and the use of aluminum in the portafilter instead of stainless steel.
  • Frother and Portafilter Issues: The milk frother is often criticized for producing large, airy bubbles instead of fine microfoam, or for being difficult to control and use effectively. The portafilter is noted for being cheaply made, having a small diameter (51mm) which limits accessories, leaving wet coffee pucks, or being challenging to lock into the machine.

  1. Very easy to wipe down milk spout!

Update: I am unable to use my taller or reusable take along cups in this. The height between the base of the unit and where the espresso comes out doesn’t have enough space. My low to mid height cups are fine. I am still tinkering with the milk. I wish it would get a little warmer than it does. There doesn’t seem to be a post use cleaning mode for the milk nozzle so I have taken apart to wipe down and then put back together. I find the milk attachment to be a bit clunky and confusing to use.

Just made my first cappuccino with this. It has a nice flavor. There is some undertones of maybe new espresso maker taste. So I will update this as I brew a few more if that undertone goes away.

A standout feature is the milk was VERY easy to clean the wand off which is not at all my experience with another brand espresso maker that I have.

It was easy to assemble and I appreciate the stickers with the details about what to remove, attach and other details.

The instruction manual is not laid out in a manner that I find super helpful to start. I put the pieces I needed to together and washed everything. I had to jump around the pages a bit because instructions are here. Then images to refer to are a few pages back. I just skimmed the details I needed to make my capucino.

To use it the first time, you press the power button. Then wait for all of the lights to stop blinking. That signifies that the machine is up to speed/warmed up/ready to brew. I pressed 1 cup for espresso. I also had the 1 cup for the espresso filter in with espresso.

They did a wonderful job incorporating a lot of easy to recycle materials into the padding around the espresso machine. I love to see a lot of cardboard and easy to recycle items. The plastics are all the type I can take to recycle at our grocery store.

I am on the fence if I would order again or recommend. I will update this review as I gain more experience and try different things with the machine.

  2. Quality Espresso Machine

This is a solid and well build Espresso Machine. Everything feels premium quality. The designs is timeless. I like the centered pressure gauge. Usage is very easy and I also like that the steam wand is adjustable to match cup or glass sizes. Footprint is also compact.

I wish they would have included the two espresso glasses you always see in the illustration pictures
