Summary of Customer Reviews

The eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro has received a mixed yet predominantly positive response from users. Many customers have praised the vacuum for its advanced features, ease of use, and effective cleaning performance, particularly on hard floors. The self-cleaning and auto-emptying functions are highly appreciated, reducing the need for manual intervention. The vacuum’s navigation system and mapping capabilities also receive high marks for accuracy and efficiency. However, some users have pointed out limitations, such as issues with cleaning carpets, software glitches, and occasional hardware malfunctions. Overall, most users find the eufy S1 Pro to be a valuable addition to their cleaning routine, especially those looking for a hands-free experience.

PROS

  • Superior Navigation: The eufy S1 Pro is praised for its precise navigation. A user mentioned, “The S1 Omni Pro glides over carpet gracefully and goes around furniture, pet feeders, and other household obstacles with ease.” This advanced navigation helps the robot clean efficiently without getting stuck.

  • Efficient Cleaning Performance: Many users highlight the vacuum’s powerful suction and effective cleaning, especially on hard floors. “This robot effortlessly picks up all the pet hair and even catches stray bits of litter that my cat tracks onto the floor,” noted one satisfied customer.

  • Self-Cleaning and Auto-Emptying Features: The convenience of the self-cleaning mop and auto-emptying dustbin is a standout feature. “With the S1 Pro Omni, it’s self-cleaning, so I hardly have to touch anything or get dust all over my hands,” stated a reviewer, emphasizing the hands-free nature of the vacuum.

  • User-Friendly App Integration: The app associated with the vacuum is intuitive and feature-rich, allowing users to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones, and monitor the vacuum’s progress in real-time. One user shared, “I learned to do all that without ever reading up a manual. It is that intuitive.”

  • Quiet Operation: The eufy S1 Pro operates quietly, especially in its “Quiet Mode,” making it less disruptive than many other robot vacuums. “With Eufy S1’s QUIET mode, I can watch TV without feeling disturbed,” mentioned a reviewer.

CONS

  • Carpet Cleaning Limitations: While the vacuum excels on hard floors, several users noted that it struggles with carpet cleaning. One user explained, “It misses picking up some of my dog’s hair clumps on areas on the carpet.”

  • Issues with Dark Carpets and Drop Sensors: Some users have reported problems with the vacuum’s sensors misinterpreting dark carpets as drop-offs, leading to incomplete cleaning. “It skips certain parts of my area rug. It pauses, reverses, and goes around them,” noted a customer.

  • Software and Connectivity Issues: A few reviews highlighted software bugs and connectivity issues, particularly with initial setup and updates. “Spent time with call center, opened ticket to their support etc. After 3 days of work, they sent the new firmware to the device but it didn’t solve the problem,” one frustrated user shared.

  • High Price Point: The cost of the eufy S1 Pro is a concern for some users. “It’s an amazing piece of technology, but I’m not entirely sure it justifies the cost,” mentioned a reviewer, pointing out the premium pricing.

  • Firmware and Product Issues: There have been reports of firmware problems that affect the vacuum’s functionality, particularly with mopping. “After 4 days of trying to solve the issue, mopping still doesn’t work,” complained a user.

Who Should Buy?

The eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro is ideal for individuals or families who are looking for a high-tech, hands-free cleaning solution. It is particularly suitable for homes with hard flooring and pet owners, as it efficiently picks up pet hair and keeps floors clean with minimal effort. Those who appreciate smart home technology and are willing to invest in a premium product will find the advanced features, such as self-cleaning and detailed mapping, highly beneficial. However, it might not be the best choice for households with a lot of carpeting or dark flooring due to its limitations in these areas.

Do Users Recommend This Product?

Overall, the majority of users recommend the eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro, primarily for its convenience, cleaning efficiency, and advanced features. Users appreciate how the vacuum simplifies their cleaning routine and reduces manual effort. However, some reservations about its performance on carpets, software issues, and high price point may deter a few potential buyers. Despite these drawbacks, those who have a suitable environment for the vacuum and prioritize a hands-free cleaning experience find it to be a worthy investment.

kickstarter early purchaser here. join the discord to see all the issues. they are shipping out known defects of the original production run and fixing later. as this is the best bot i have owned and hands down the best mop bot, i would not recommend these early models to anyone. wait until September/Oct until the revised unit is built.

Game-changer for our home, not perfect but very easy to use and hands-off!

We have not had a robovac in our home before, but since most of our floor on the main level is luxury-vinyl-plank with a few area rugs, it was more important to get some mop coverage. I saw the Kickstarter campaign for this model and really liked the idea of the self-washing, drying, and sanitizing mop. It really does work. We’ve had the unit running for about 2 months, it runs every night. Most of the maintenance has been adding water to the tank and dumping the dirty water from the other tank – both removable from the base station. The robot itself mapped our floor well and handles rug and hardfloor perfectly, lowering the mop only for the hardfloor. It does leave about 0.5-1inch of unmopped space from the edges due to the roller mop style, but it does at least hit those edges with the spinbrushes and vacuum. So far, almost none of the mop cleaner has been used from the initial tank, and the dust bag hasn’t even filled up! I performed a cleaning on the robot itself after 5 weeks, it was simple to take apart the pieces (easily labeled with levers to pull them out) rinse them, dry them, and replace. I would imagine that needs to be done about 1x/month to keep the robot working well, but the app keeps track of all these tasks if you want.

The app still leaves some room for improvement. Not every maintenance task is actually tracked properly – some of them never countdown the hours/time so it will never remind me about a task like cleaning the robots dirty water reservoir. It also has a few issues with customizing maps – merging rooms together doesn’t work sometimes because the app thinks they aren’t adjacent.

Initially, the robot was getting jammed under my bedframes when I took it upstairs to run the bedrooms, but since then, they added a Height clearance setting and defaulted to Safe mode, which I assume will prevent the robot from attempting that. They are still updating the firmware often.

Overall, it’s incredible having a very clean floor every morning. This won’t give a perfect clean on a single run, but if you let it go consistently, it will keep the floor feeling spotless – repetition is key. There’s even a setting to have it run 2x each session, though I thought that might be overkill since we don’t have pets.

You can also dispatch it manually to any room, draw a zone on the app, etc – useful after my infant finishes eating in the highchair.

If you’re like me and think mopping is a colossal waste of time and energy, then this gadget is worth every penny. It pays for itself with the time you save (or the money you don’t have to shell out to someone else to do the dirty work).

I’m giving this contraption a solid 5 stars because, overall, I love it. However, there are a few small issues that I don’t think a $1500 vacuum/mop should have.

Let’s start with the critiques:

– Streaky Situation: The regular mopping setting leaves streaks, indicating it misses some areas and dries with lines on the floor (see photo). Turning it up a notch to the heavier setting solves this problem for the most part.

– Mopping Solution: They make you buy their mopping solution, which says it contains fragrance, and I have a chemical sensitivity. Initially, I was worried that I’d be stuck with a mop that smells like a perfume counter, but thankfully, I don’t notice any smells! Also, this really doesn’t use much solution at all, so it should last a long time.

– Dust Bag Monopoly: You’re also forced to buy their dust bags for the collection, which is a bit annoying. However, they’re cheap and only need to be replaced every couple of months. While a bin to dump would be nice, having the dust contained in a bag is convenient. Plus, with “subscribe and save,” it’s no biggie.

– Carpet Mark Mystery: It left a black mark on my white carpet at the tile-carpet juncture. I assume the wheel was dirty or the mop pad didn’t lift in time. I managed to clean it with some carpet cleaner, but it’s worth mentioning.

– Hair Collection: (First, a disclaimer: I have long hair and shed a lot – if you don’t have a hair/fur issue in your house, skip ahead to the next point.) After just two uses of the vacuum, I pulled out enough hair from the brushes to make a toupee (halfway joking, but check the photo)! The app didn’t tell me it needed maintenance yet, but I decided to check and was shocked at how much hair it collected. My Dyson V15 Detect doesn’t have this issue, so I would assume that there’s better brush technology available. However, I’m hoping this was just a fluke since it was vacuuming hard-to-reach places and likely picked up a lot of extra hair on the first go. Also, the hair mostly gets stored inside the brush, which is likely a clever design to reduce how often it needs cleaning. I imagine there’s even more hair inside the dust collecting bag, as the vacuum is designed to clean and detangle the brush (which it did, other than a little on the sides and the inside/storage area).

The Pros:
– Smart Mapping: The mapping and carpet detection are impressive. It even adds symbols to the map for scales, couches, beds, etc – which makes the map easier to understand. As a bonus, I was plesantly surprised when I moved the vacuum station to a different area and it didn’t require remapping (it KNOWS it’s been moved and knows exactly where too, even updates on the little map – pretty amazing).

– Low Maintenance: This is the lowest maintenance vacuum/mop combo on the market. It dumps and cleans itself, notifying you via the app when maintenance is needed. Still, I have been checking things out to ensure everything is working as intended and so far, so good.

– App Alerts: The app notifies you when other maintenance is needed, simplifying things. I don’t like keeping track of such tasks myself.

– Powerful Mopping: The heavy mopping setting is seriously impressive. It scrubs dried-on marks right off the floor.

– Worth the Investment: It pays for itself quickly, especially if you love a clean house but dislike doing all the work, or if you have pets or kids.

Neutral Notes (or “FYI”):

– Water Usage: I’ve run the mop setting twice, once on regular and once on heavy. It used about 3/4 of the water tank on these settings. The heavy setting requires more frequent refills, but it’s easy to do. The dirty water tank only filled about 1/8th, and the murky water shows it’s doing its job!

– Size Matters: It’s big, but that’s intentional to minimize dumping and refilling. I prefer the large size over extra work. It needs a good parking spot (preferably out of sight), with a 5-foot clearance on the front and sides for the robot to return to base.

– Brush Pop-Off: One of the side brushes keeps popping off for some reason. I’ve found it in random places around the house a couple of times now. Not a huge deal, though, as it pops back on easily and comes with extras.

– Cord Catch: Generally, I don’t have to move things before running this thanks to it’s all-seeing eye, but it did get caught on a cord once. I’ll be more careful with cords in the future. When running a deep clean cycle, I pick up bathroom rugs so it can mop the entire surface, but it’s not necessary to move them.

Despite my tough critique, this device is a game-changer for keeping a clean house with minimal effort. If only it could do my dishes, then we’d be set!

Product doesn’t mop

Terrible experience. Mopping (#1 reason why we bought this product) doesn’t work with the firmware loaded on the product. When i say doesn’t work, i mean it doesn’t even start mopping. Spent time with call center, opened ticket to their support etc. After 3 days of work, they sent the new firmware to the device but it didn’t solve the problem.

First of all how can you sell a product with a firmware that has a blocker bug that impacts most important feature? And that’s a product that costs 1500$? They couldn’t be bothered to reflash the products to right firmware in their warehouse before shipping to their customers??

And there is a ‘fix’ for the issue on a new firmware but their app can’t upgrade to that firmware, you need to open a ticket. After 4 days of trying to solve the issue, mopping still doesn’t work (doesn’t even start). We has very high hopes for the product and we are extremely disappointed with the experience

Not happy with the delivery process.

They shipped the unit USPS. Why I don’t know. USPS will not deliver the item, they said it’s because the item is too big and too heavy. So, I was forced to go pick it up at the Post Office. Doing so cost me an hour of my time. Come on people. This is Amazon, it’s supposed to be delivered to my doorstep!

The good is… set up was super easy. So much easier than my Ecovacs Omni X1. Which, based on my experienced was an overpriced, glitchy piece of junk, that had a variety of differing issues, both mechanical and electronic. It was not good at anything, except for wasting expensive cleaning solution.

The S1 Pro voice communications much better they the Omni X1. The notification/communications are more detailed, timely and I can actually hear and understand what the device is saying.

Starting mapping, I’ll be back with another review after I’ve had the opportunity to run this unit for a while.

UPDATE: 5 Stars

I’ll include comparisons to my previous product, the Ecovacs Omni X1, maybe that will provide information to help others who are considering that product. In short, that product is substandard in every aspect.

Okay so far, this S1 Pro is a dream!

I have two dogs, one large and one small breed, yet floors are actually clean now. I set it to clean and don’t have to wonder if it will actually complete the job.

SOFTWARE is superior in design, functionality and performance… it actually works and does so consistently. Whenever you do something with the base unit or the robot the device speaks to you. Example: “Clean tank removed”

CONNECTIVITY This unit connects easily and stays connected. Unlike the Ecovacs where I was constantly having to turn it off and back on, resetting it etc… man I hated that product!!

CLEANING ROLLER is far superior to the rotating pads- it cleans many times better than the Ecovac. I believe this is due to the fact that the Eufy cleans the roller much better than Ecovacs does the pads. The floor also dries much faster.
Something I really like is the roller does not drop down to clean until it reaches the designated cleaning zone. So, stepping over wet trails to and from the cleaning area is a thing of the past. Also, because the S1 Pro works properly it has never needlessly put itself through a cleaning cycle. The Ecovacs did so at least 50 percent of the time and by doing so wasted a ton of cleaning fluid.

NAVIGATION the unit cleans the floor in a logical fashion, does not get lost or confused like the Ecovacs did.

ZERO FRUSTRATION theS1 Pro has not wasted my time dorking with it in an attempt to get it to work properly, which I could never do with the Ecovacs… there was always another glitch or problem to deal with.

BOTOMLINE the S1 Pro does what is it supposed to; effectively, efficiently and reliably – Hassle and headache free!

I get this review is as much about how bad the Ecovacs X1 is as it is how good the S1 Pro is. But as I said, hopefully this review will save those considering the Ecovacs product a lot of money, time and frustration by simply getting the Eufy S1 Dream… ahh I mean Pro.

I never opted to buy one of these before because they seemed like a gimmick at best. However, I watched a Youtube smart home review channel called The Hook Up, and the mopping capabilities of this one in particular blew everything else out of the water.

I’ve now had it set up for about a month or so, and my house has never been cleaner! It’s very particular and logical in how it maps out and cleans your home. Lots of customization, scheduling, and on-demand cleaning how and when you need it.

Definitely recommend for anyone who has the budget! I would say by this time point it saved me the man hours of vacuuming and mopping myself.

Note: I Kickstarted this, did not purchase on Amazon!

The BEST robot vacuum and mop!

I’ve tested every robot mop combo on the market. All of them claim to have the best suction, mapping or mopping… but eufy takes the cake. They built an excellent app with great mapping technology, very easy to divide rooms and clean specific areas. The mop actually mops, and the vacuum picks up objects large and small; I can feel the difference after it has cleaned!

I highly recommend the S1 to anyone looking for the best robot vacuum.

Tired of your Roborock bumping into everything, and forgetting how to map? Dyson doesn’t have a dock? iRobot has less range than a 10 year old Tesla? The S1 Pro will convince you we should fear a robot uprising. Well, sort of.

Coming from a RR Q5+, there’s a lot to admire. Strengths;

Software
* The robot is smart. Not community college smart, Ivy League smart. Whatever AI this thing is packing, it was years in the making. The obstacle avoidance has yet to fail. The part where it goes around each furniture leg? Chefs kiss.
* The app is outstanding. Whoever designed it deserves a paid vacation.

Hardware
* Thanks to the sensor being mounted on the front, rather than the top, the robot has a lower than average profile, meaning it fits in tighter spaces.
* Because there are two side brushes, the robot can run along a wall in any direction. The location of these brushes allows better cleaning in corners and along baseboards.
* The mop is so good, it should be getting paid. Where other robots use oscillating discs or vibrating pads, the S1 Pro uses a roller with some serious down-force and active cleaning. Similar to what you’d find on a stand up vacuum. No more smearing.

Home Base
* The dock has set a very high standard for what a dock should be. This alone had to involve some serious R&D. Dyson, are you taking notes?
* The self emptying and auto filling make life easy. Much quieter than our RR. The maneuverability of the reservoirs is outstanding.
* The touch interface gives the machine a really polished, distinguished feel. It’s leaps ahead of everything else. Eufy, can you see into the future?
* Built in purifying. The dock uses some sort of witchcraft to purify the water. I don’t know how it works, but it looks very cool.

Performance
* The S1 Pro clearly ate its vegetables. The suction is so powerful, you’d think it has an extension cord.
* The accuracy of the robot is comparable to a seasoned getaway driver. It weaves through tight spaces and comes close to everything without ever touching anything. Unlike your grandmas tiny dog, this won’t bite your ankles.

Weaknesses
* All though most households are phasing out carpet, some people still have it, like me! After multiple passes on our medium pile, our Roborock Q5+ managed to fill its bin with more deeply imbedded dirt. A bristled brush on the S1 may solve this issue. The robots abilities on carpet aren’t anything to brag about. In addition, the brush is very small, therefore makes more passes.
* The widget could use some work, like a couple more functions.

Overall, it’s a very decent machine. The design and technology are comparable to something you’d find at Area 51. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think Eufy landed on earth, and used alien technology to make what is undoubtedly the most well engineered, though-out, game changing robot available to humans.

Bite the bullet, buy the robot. You won’t find anything else this good at this price on this planet.

Smart Vacuum Redefined!

Been using this for almost a month now. It replaced an old robot vacuum that is the old round/disc shape and only did sucking. The Eufy S1 Pro Omni is a huge upgrade. It looks super sleek and modern. With its rounded shape and understated but refined and classy color.

The Eufy S1 Omni Pro navigates around smoothly, accurately, and effortlessly. The old vacuum I had would get stuck when it goes from hardwood floor to carpet. Or it would sometimes get caught under the couch, or one of the sweepers would get stuck under a furniture leg and it would be spinning in circles. Not with this unit. The S1 Omni Pro glides over carpet gracefully. It goes around furniture, pet feeder, and other household obstacles with ease.

There is an auto-retraction mop. When it detects carpet, it will retract, so that the S1 won’t get stuck, and the mop won’t be getting the carpet wet. This is all automatic, sensor-based so I don’t have to worry about manually detaching or re-attaching the mopping head.

When first booted up, the S1 would map the place and it saves the map in the app. When cleaning, I can see from the app exactly where it has cleaned and where it’s going. It’s fun to watch, but I don’t have to keep a watch because it does a good job of covering everything.

The suction power is great. I never found it lacking for anything. And the battery is enough for my needs. It will automatically return to the cleaning/charging station when finished or when battery is low. So I never have to worry about it.

The app integration is easy to use. There are a ton of functions, like scheduling cleanings, setting no-go zones, and monitoring the cleaning progress in real-time. I learned to do all that without ever reading up a manual. It is that intuitive. You can also directly tell the S1 to clean a certain spot, or go to a specific room. The app is just well thought out.

One of my main gripes for the old vacuum, is that I still needed to clean it manually. So I’m still getting my hands dirty. With the S1 Pro Omni, it’s self cleaning, so I hardly have to touch anything or get dust all over my hands. Just clean out the water tank and empty the bin once in a while. I’d say it’s a huge quality of life improvement.

To conclude, the S1 Pro Omni is the next step in the evolution of smart robot vacuums. It looks super sleek and futuristic, and it does its job exceptionally well. Highly recommended!

I have two older robot vacuums of a different brand and a number of other robot “helpers” around the house, including a lawn mower. For me, these can either be a life changer by removing a major chore from your to-do list altogether (as is the case with the lawn mower) or they break even (as is the case with the older robot vacuums–yes, they vacuum well, but the time spent emptying and cleaning them is often more than it would take me to vacuum the space). I was eager to see what this premium eufy vacuum/mop could do and am happy to report it falls into the life-changing category.

What it does:
* vacuums thoroughly in straight lines, not a random pattern
* maps out your house accurately and “sees” furniture and other obstacles–it doesn’t bump into things blindly like the older robotic vacuums
* mops extremely thoroughly (albeit slowly) in straight lines, leaving very little moisture on the floor (much less than when I mop myself)
* returns frequently to the base station to rinse the mop head and empty the dirty mop water
* fits under standard couches, beds, etc.
* climbs up a level to rugs and carpets
* allows you to set zones, including no-go and no-mop zones (for rugs, carpets, etc.)
* does a nifty little spin around chair legs maneuver
* has a very sophisticated and user-friendly app
* blow-dries the mop brush out after use
* comes well-packaged and virtually plug-and-play (you only need to snap on some rubber brushes)

A few notes based on my experience so far, including some cautions:

* this does a great job of both vacuuming and mopping. However, I have very light LVP floors that require scrubbing every six months or so as dirt gets suck in the “woodgrain” crevices. I was due for my semi-annual scrubbing and wanted to see if the advertised jets of water on the eufy could take the place of it. The answer is no, at least not with one pass (if I had patience to do ten mop passes, maybe, but I have company coming this week). So I scrubbed my floors nice and clean and this has done a far better job than hand-mopping of maintaining that level of clean. I’ll update this review if this changes over time. I’m guessing the fact that it doesn’t swish around dirty water as much as I do when mopping, despite best efforts, will help avoid dirt in the crevices.

* you do have to use eufy-branded cleaning cartridges with this, at least until it is popular enough that we begin seeing 3rd party versions. I’m pretty picky about my floor cleaner and I really like that this stuff has no discernable scent and also does not leave the floors sticky. It really gets the floors clean enough to pass what I call the “barefoot” test–you can walk around barefoot and your feet stay perfectly clean.

* I have a popular brand of washable area rug–the kind that is very low profile and attaches to a hook-and-loop type rug pad. Admittedly, I’ve had it for several years and the rug pad is not as “sticky” as it once was. Although the eufy is meant to be able to move from floor to rug, it struggled with this and kept pushing the rug back from the pad. It will still vacuum the rug nicely if placed on top of it, but it can’t make that move itself.

* the base station is large and you need four feet in front of it and 1.5 feet clear on either side for the eufy to be able to dock itself, get emptied, charged, etc.

* while it is not terribly loud, it is not silent. I had a hard time watching TV while it was going, so I run it at night or when I am WFH in another room.
