Excellent Quality

First off, I’d just like to say for the money you can not do better. Colors are fantastic, local dimming works perfectly, absolutely no bloom or banding issues like previous Hisense, motion handling is also top tier. This is the absolute best rv you can get before getting into OLED, but you’ll be missing out on one of the best features, the brightness. The ability of this TV to get blindingly bright held so much with hdr and local dimming content. Everything pops. Also, the black levels are fantastic and near OLED level. Only issue is with some content that has forced black bars you can actively see the local dimming trying to work within the back bars but this doesn’t translate to the actual picture content. Two things I have yet to be able to figure out are fixing the aspect ratio so there are no black bars on any content and also how to set up surround sound so that the TV speakers can work in conjunction with surround sound through optical…… My older model U8G allowed this. Kind of annoying having to go into settings to switch the audio output.

AWESOME TV!

I had Sony for 8 years and it started to jammed and died out, so I buy Hisense U8N after my friend told me about it. I am so excited about the new tv that I just received and couldn’t wait to open it. All I can say is WoW!! First, it is very easy to assemble, it comes with two handles and screws. Just attach the handle on the bottom of Hisense tv with the screws, it is very stable that you don’t need other support for it to stand very still on the table. Then just plug the power to the outlet and it can be turned on easily. Once you set it up, just turn on the power of tv and it comes with different languages that you can choose from, then connect to the WiFi and they will guide you through the setup.

I started watching it as soon as I finished the setup. Hisense U8N that I got just launched this year, it comes in 55”, 65”, 75” and 85”. I got the 55” due to limit space in my living room, surprisingly the size is perfect for my house. The U8N is a 4K TV with up to peak brightness 3000, the model is also miniLED, which gives you a better vision, and brightness when you watch tv or movies. For the old tv that I had, when the bright object appears on the screen, it messed up the contrast, but with miniLED, the U8N gives you a more clarity vision and better color saturation. There is also gaming mode so you can play with your family. Also, the price for Hisense U8N is very good compared to other brands. If you are looking for the best TV with excellent features, just go for Hisense U8N.

Great TV picture for the money!

Great TV picture for the money, especially if you have it in a bright room. But, you may want to have a better media streamer, this one’s built in OS is a bit laggy to navigate through.

Picture quality is a step up from a Sony X900H I own that is 3 years old, however even that older TV’s operating system based on google TV is faster than this google based OS TV. It TV OS isn’t super slow, but it is slow enough that coming from anything Sony and LG have made in the last 3 years will feel slower. I also own a 3 year old LG C1 whose operating system feels faster to me. I suspect Hisense is using a slower processor built into the TV to cut down on costs. I also have an Nvidia Shield, and that runs great on this TV. For me, this will be the way I will do all my media streaming, as it is just significantly faster than the built in Hisense apps running on Google TV. I wish the built in hardware ran faster. I suspect the built in OS runs slower because of the million ads you get while on the Google TV OS, which unfortunately is a lot.

Now, on actually running native Amazon Prime 4K on the built in Hisense Google TV OS, it does look great when showing 4K HDR content. It gets really bright, much brighter than a LG C1 OLED TV I have, and compared to my Sony X900H, a LED based TV (though not mini-LED of this Hisense) it has much better local dimming, as this TV has a lot more dimming zones inside, and each LED light is smaller, hence the name “mini-LED”. So what I get here on this U8N is far less backlight blooming when there is a lot of contrast on the screen. This TV does look fantastic when it comes to how bright it can get for sure, butI still think it is behind in overall black levels available in OLED TVs which are literally INK BLACK. However OLED TVs are not a great option if you watch tv in bright rooms, as they do not get bright enough. This TV is perfect for bright rooms, and you will not have to worry about burn in like you do on OLED based displays.

Another great step up from other TVs in my home are the built-in speakers on this year’s 55UN8. There is more bass on this TV than either of my other more expensive TVs. It won’t replace a decent soundbar, but it does sound better than built-in speakers from TVs I have in the home that are from 3 years ago.

This TV also comes with what I think is a great remote. It is the perfect size and looks great.

Overall, for the money, this is a great TV for most people that want a really good picture, and especially that want that in a bright sunlit room! Just keep in mind you may want to opt for a better media streamer like an AppleTV or a Nvidia Shield.

DO NOT BUY THE 55”

If you’re deadset on buying the u8n DO NOT buy the 55”. It is a completely different and inferior panel. It’s so drastic the 65” offers peak brightness of 3000 and the 55” only offers 1300. Hisense is getting huge backlash from those who read the fine print.

With that being said; the 65” u7n is the exact same price as the 55” u8n and offers 1500 peak brightness, making it a MUCH smarter and well informed TV purchase.

You’ve been warned.

Good, really good but not great...

I have a perfect 10,000 hour LG OLED B7 65 and now have this Hisense U8N 65 sitting right next to each other and they both have a fantastic picture. The OLEDs viewing angle takes the win for me, as the U8N washes out considerably unless you’re directly in front of it. If you’re even slightly off to the side, even 1 seat over, the picture looks grey and washed out. It stinks really, as the Hisense has the better-looking and WAY brighter picture when viewed straight on. But I have a very bright room and need a brighter TV. Just one that can display some color and now I’m not sure what to do with this TV. 2024 LG G4 and bite the bullet? $3300 though….

Huge improvement over previous U8G tv

We have the older U8G tv & I wasn’t impressed with that one so I was a bit skeptical to get another one. I’m glad I did, there’s a huge improvement. We have an antenna & the stations all look good, there are doubles of some stations that say nextgentv & those look amazing with bright, clear picture. Blu ray & ultra blu rays also look amazing. DVD’s look good. We subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime video & Apple TV & some of those aren’t 4K but still look good.
Setup was very easy, hardest part was logging back into the apps. The stand is very heavy but is in the center of the tv which is nice because it doesn’t hang over the sides of the smaller entertainment center we have it on. I can’t comment on gaming because we’re not gamers.
The remote is improved also with longer backlighting time, direct buttons for Netflix, Disney, prime & tubi, I can’t get the voice command to work just yet & Hulu is missing from the detect buttons which I find odd since it’s a common one. I also wish the remote had numbers to select for channels instead of just up & down.
The built in speakers are good, they’re loud, I prefer a little crisper sound though.
This works with Alexa & has plenty of ports with 4 HDMI, 2 USB, 1 serial, headphone, AV in, LAN & digital audio out.
Our older model was pone to constant screen freezing & loss of sound which was only resolved by unplugging it, hopefully this model is better with that. Hasn’t done it so far.
So far really liking the upgrade, only reason for 4 stars is the remote & speakers.

Replaced my OLED with no regrets!

An affordable but beautiful and powerful 65” TV? Take a look at the Hisense U8. I was a little hesitant to make the change from OLED back to Mini-LED as I absolutely love the true blacks on my OLED. However, we were wanting to upgrade the size and between my friend has a Hisense he loves and the price point, I thought I would give this a shot. And I’m glad I did! While it doesn’t quite reach those inky blacks of an OLED, it comes pretty close. At least close enough for me. It’s exceptionally bright which is great as it’s right next to bay windows in our living room. It has Google TV built in so I can free up one of my HDMI ports, it has all HDR formats supported, 144hz refresh rate, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports to support my PS5 and Xbox Series X, and to top it all off, built-in speakers that actually sound good?
Setup was easy and while they say to have two people there to set up, I was able to do it on my own due to the exceptional packaging that doubles as a stand for you to put the actual stand on. The power cord is detachable which I didn’t think I would be raving about until my OLED had a fixed cable that was way too short and required an extension cord. Setting up Google TV was easy, as I already have a Google account and the Google Home app downloaded. I did go in and immediately turn off motion smoothing and turned on Filmmaker mode because I do not like how the default makes everything look weirdly smooth and unnatural. But motion smoothing looks great when I switch over to playing a fast moving game like Spiderman 2 on my PS5 and boy does this TV handle it swimmingly! I put it through several different tests from gaming to watching 4k shows like the 3 Body Problem and the 4K Bluray of Barbie. All of these shows popped and have made us fans of Hisense. While I do miss just how deep the blacks were on my OLED, there is so much here in this TV that I’ve grown to significantly prefer this TV over my last. The local dimming of LEDs is so well done that I find myself squinting at the black areas on screen to see the difference.
The last thing I wanted to touch on was how almost all TVs, Including my very expensive OLED, have absolutely terrible speakers built in. This TV actually sounds pretty great! Where I would rank most decent TV speakers as having a 3/10 rating, this is like a 7/10. I still have a soundbar that I use instead, but I was legitimately surprised by the sound performance. If you don’t have a soundbar and buy this TV, you won’t feel the need to rush out and buy one.

Pros:
Beautiful Panel
Excellent Price
Gets extremely bright
Multiple HDMI 2.1 ports for modern video games
You don’t need to immediately buy a soundbar!
But if you have a soundbar, it has HDMI Arc
Google Cast and Airplay support
Standard C13 removable power cord if you are far from an outlet
Cons:
Blacks aren’t as deep as on an OLED
The remote is a little too big? (You can tell I’m stretching for negatives)

so good!

the good:
* picture quality – Two words – IN-SANE! I mean, it’s from Hisense, which maybe isn’t considered an upper tier brand, but it’s significantly better than the Samsung and Sony Bravia panels I have. Seriously, I am astounded by the color vibrance, super deep blacks (not OLED but pretty close) and contrast levels.
* performance – In terms of processing, the interface is OK, but the screen response and viewing experience is just buttery smooth. I’m not a huge fan of the “clarity” settings personally, like the frame interpolation and all that, but it does a good job at what it’s supposed to do, which is to say that when motion enhancement is on, it is pretty impressive…like tough to tell apart from a native 60fps 4k video impressive. For movies typically 24fps is native, and of course it handles that with no problem. Gaming is fantastic, especially with the 144Hz game mode.
* design – Super slim bezel and minimalist design. Not flash, just class.
* included audio/video tech – Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG support (having all those is killer) as well as and Imax Enhanced.
* audio – Probably not many people are going to be using the onboard audio, but it’s actually pretty solid, with Dolby Atmos and again Imax Enhanced support. It’s not gonna replace a full-blown home theater audio system, but it might just replace a sound bar.
* HDMI – solid HDMI ports (4 total, 2 of them 2.1 with 144Hz support)

the bad:
* The onboard software (Google TV) can be a little glitchy, and can stutter slightly from time to time under more demanding content, especially at the beginning of the content before the buffer has time to build. Even so, a very minor nit-pick.

misc:
* Uniformity (without FALD) is pretty bad, meaning if dimming is off, the picture is cloudy with tons of haze and bright spots. Luckily the FALD is *really* good at correcting it, so good in fact that if you didn’t know any better, you might actually confuse this with an OLED.

overall:

At this price point, this is about as close to maximizing bang-for-your-buck as you can get. An easy 5 stars for me.
