Good Multi Function Printer But Ink Limitations
The Office Jet Pro 8135e by HP is convenient to have in the home office for the occasional necessary documents and useful to have for photo prints. A printer is not something I need to use everyday but is it still something I need to use regularly despite being digital for so many things.
It has multifunctions that are necessary for a home office (it can scan, print and copy). While we can now scan documents with cell phones, a dedicated scanner is still useful to scan large documents with the document top feeder and the flat bed is especially useful for scanning old photographs and other documents that you want ultimate quality. The color touch screen is responsive and has a relatively simple interface. It feels well made and not flimsy. It does have a large horizontal footprint that gets even larger with the pull out tray. This is definitely not a space saving machine even though it is not very high vertically considering all its functions.
The set-up is not too difficult but does require using an app or software to do so. It also depends on what devices you plan to use with the printer. I found that setting it up for use on a laptop wirelessly was pretty straight forward but more involved for tablets and phones. The wireless capabilities makes it easy to print anywhere in the house, so I am not limited on where I can put the printer other than needing it to have a good wifi signal. I did find that the power cord to be short and I needed an extension cord, which was a bit annoying.
The benefit of using this inkjet printer over a laser printer is that this printer has more versatility in printing things in color such as photos and art projects. It is nice to be able to use this printer to print photos at home. I found the color and vibrancy in the prints to be good quality. It is convenient to be able to make a print and immediately be able to edit photos as desired for the next copy. I also like that this printer has double sided printing capabilities so I don’t have to reinsert documents and remember which ways to load it to have the other side printed. It does take a bit of time for the printer to turn on and warm-up but I don’t mind as it is only a minute or two.
Ink: Unfortunately, this printer like most HP printers has a lot of limitations on the type of ink that is allowed to be used. You can only use HP branded cartridges that contain a chip in it or subscribe to Instant Ink (HP’s cartridge subscription service). The printer comes with 3 months free of Instant Ink but the cartridge will no longer function once you stop paying the monthly fee and you are limited on how many pages you can print each month. You pay monthly depending on the tier you choose. Furthermore, the printer only comes with starter ink cartridges that are only a small portion of a full cartridge, which means relatively immediately, you have to subscribe to a monthly ink service or buy a full set of ink cartridges. The starter cartridges are barely enough to print a few lengthy documents and are an environmental waste of the cartridge. I don’t like feeling so limited in what type of ink or how much I can print each month and having another recurring monthly bill, especially when my printing needs change every month.
This is a well made inkjet printer that gives you all the scanning and printing functions you need for a home office. I would recommend it if you do not mind being limited by the type of ink cartridges you can use but perhaps pass if you have large print needs and don’t like to be restrained by having a monthly subscription or purchasing constantly from HP.

Perfect
This an all-in-one printer can print, scan, copy, and fax documents. It’s super easy to use and fast while still being very quiet. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is a good option for your home or even a small office. It’s also relatively compact and lightweight, making it easy to fit on a desk or shelf. It comes with 3 months of ink also!

Difficult to set up
I found the set-up process to be extremely frustrating. I had to get help from the chat feature and was online for almost an hour before the printer was finally set up. It also seems to print much slower than my HP Envy printer, which finally died after over ten years of problem free printing.

Easy to set up on my Mac mini and Apple devices
It only took me a few minutes to get the printer connected to my Mac and other apple devices. Just went to the HP site and downloaded the right driver software. Was a breeze. Haven’t had the printer for long but was easy to set up and does nice printouts. Plus, I signed up for ink coverage and pay a small monthly fee. That way I don’t run out of ink and HP monitors when I need some more ink. The unit was a little bit bigger than expected but still fit nicely in the space that I had.

THIS PRINTER IS CRAP
Other than the good looks of this product , it’s difficult to say anything good about it. It is difficult to set up, instructions are hard to follow, paper tray is flimsy, too small, and difficult to load, photo paper does not feed. and when you do manage to get paper to pass through the print looks washed out.
I wasted the better part of a day trying to make this printer work properly. What ever happened to plug-and-play?

Nice Home Printer
I received the HP Office Jet Pro 8135e Wireless All-in-One Printer, it feels pretty well-built. It’s similar to most other HP printers, with a body made mostly from thicker plastic. Lifting the scanner bed gives you good access to the maintenance bay.
It has the typical maintenance requirements you’d expect of an inkjet printer. Like any inkjet model, the printheads can clog if you don’t print for a prolonged period. To combat the risk of print quality deterioration over time, you can run a few procedures: printhead cleaning, printhead alignment, and smear cleaning, which removes smudges that can appear on printed pages.
The HP 923 cartridges have a reasonable yield, so you won’t need to replace them all that often unless you print at high volumes regularly. You can access the cartridges by opening the printer’s front panel and lifting the entire scanner bed. However, the printer needs to be on for you to replace them since the cartridge carriage is locked in place to the left of the maintenance bay when the printer is off.
The touch-sensitive screen is small and responds ok, the touch-capacitive buttons just below the screen are very sensitive, and it’s easy to accidentally press one when swiping through the menu.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e delivers great color document print quality. Text looks clear and legible, and colored areas aren’t overly saturated, quality of black-and-white documents is great, Text looks crisp and sharp, and the scanner accurately reproduces finer elements, prints reasonably fast, though that depends on the source of your printed material.
This printer comes with a 3-month subscription to HP’s Instant Ink service, which automatically ships replacement cartridges to your door when the printer detects that it’s running low on ink.
Its flatbed scanner boasts an ADF to process multi-page documents.
Like most other HP printers, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is compatible with the HP Smart app, which offers a broad range of features. From the app, you can print a variety of file types, scan from the printer, mobile fax, and manage your HP Instant Ink subscription.

Does no work with Gallaxy phone
I was looking forward to trying this Hp printer because my Hp Envy is old, and I needed a printer that would be more efficient for my current project I am working on. It took an hour to set up the printer because the instruction lack vital information as to what was needed to do. I was able to set it up, but when I tried to go online to downloadingthe software, I was unable to get the product to install on my android phone. I was only able to test the copy directly from the printer. The cartridges are very small, and the print feeder is too small and not automatic. The paper ends up falling out of the tray. I do a lot of printing, and I believe that I would be needing ink replacements weekly. I also found the quality to be poor. It was mostly plastic. I would not recommend this model to anyone who needs a reliable printer. Since i was unable to use the machine as it was, I had to return it. I hope their other models are more reliable. I never thought I would give any HP printer a negative review. I also was unable to give any photos or videos because it didn’t work. My current printer is not working. Â

Will not stay connected
When this printer works, it works well. Print is clear and colorful and for an inkjet printer, it is pretty fast. It prints pages with just text just as fast as a laser jet. It is also nice and compact, and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Other than that, though, there just isn’t a lot that is good to say about this printer.
Setup was not easy. It took a while to get it all connected to my wifi router (ASUS GT-AX11000). I have a Dell laptop and I ended up using the HP Smart software to get it connected. It took three tries for it to find the printer and connect it. Once it was set up, it worked well enough. I printed a couple of sample pages with text and everything went well.
The next morning, I sent a small document to it and it took a full two minutes to warm up before it even would print. This involved a lot of print head moving noise, like it was self-cleaning. Eventually it did print.
I mostly print from Apple devices. I have an iPhone, MBP, and an iPad. It just doesn’t handle these very well. Yesterday I tried to send a document from all of my devices and the Dell laptop and none of them could connect to the printer at all. They just weren’t seeing it as an available device. I went to the printer and tapped on the screen a few times and it did not wake up. So I pressed the power button and it would not shut off. It was completely locked up and my only option was to unplug it and plug it back in.
This really does feel like a product that is not ready for prime time. I assume that these are issues that can be fixed with software patches, but something that can’t stay on for a week without completely locking up just isn’t a very good product.

Set is cumbersome and issues with iOS
I have purchased and set up a number of printers. I bought the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer to replace an old OfficeJet printer that I had for more than five years. Unfortunately, this printer is a huge disappointment. First, the HP Smart app pushes you to secure the printer with a password. However, the app times out before a password can be set so you need to keep going back and finding the pin label that is inside the printer. Second, printer frequently refuses to wake from sleep mode so you need to manually turn it on to get it to print. Lastly, the printer doesn’t work well with iOS so printing from an iPad is next to impossible. All in all, I thought was upgrading but I would have been better off just keeping my old OfficeJet as it worked with iOS. I would not recommend this printer or any HP printer since the app is the same for all.
