  1. WARNING: HP Will Shut Your Printer Down at any time

WARNING…if you have an HP cartridge subscripion and for some reason don’t pay your monthly payment, HP will SHUT THIS PRINTER DOWN ON THEIR END AND MAKE THIS PRINTER UNUSABLE. They will lock it up and you can’t use it. So for that reason I would not buy this HP printer or any of the HP printers again because it happened to me at a critical time. BUY ANOTHER BRAND. When it is working it’s decent but when it’s not its a nightmare and it has software glitches a lot. Also, it takes a long time for the printer to think and do whatever it does inside all the time before it does anything. It makes all these noises prior to it printing or copying a paper. It’s VERY slow to start everything. That’s very annoying to me. This printer (and all HP printers) software is its biggest downfall. The software they use is a nightmare and has a lot of glitches and issues. So get used to calling Tech Support. Sometimes when you put in new cartridges it doesn’t reset. Seems like the longer I have it the more glitches there are in the software. Also, you have to have a HP cartridge subscription for this to be at its best. I’d buy a different brand if I were you.

This printer is a total disaster, I purchased this printer, received it two days later on a Sunday afternoon, started the setup process per its instructions, downloaded the HP Smart app per the instructions, loaded the setup cartridges per the instructions. that’s when everything went south, way south. First error message said the cyan cartridge needed checked for a leak, did that found nothing, re-booted, then the error message said all three-color cartridges need replaced, checked them and re-booted, then it said all four cartridges need replaced, contact support. It was too late to call so I got online support through HP’s AI support bot, by the way I’m pretty sure it was programed by a three-year-old, totally worthless, after an hour of doing what it said I was nowhere. Next day contacted HP support, (a polite women that did not speak English well), after nearly an hour on the phone with her, and letting her video what my printer was showing and taking remote control of my PC, she got nowhere, ended up telling me I’d have to replace the set up cartridges, that those are only used for initial set up! really! so, call ended still nowhere, I ordered new cartridges $152 worth, got them two days later installed and I get new error, something wrong with my account, (what account) or bad cartridges, these are new HP cartridges. called support back gave them case number, another polite woman that spoke even worse English. after an hour with her doing the same thing the first lady did, she finally says we’ll need to replace your printer. I’m thinking great another two weeks without a printer. after ten minutes on hold while she processed the replacement order she got back on and said,” i need to inform you that we will replace your printer, but with a refurbished one that may not be the same model”. I said wait a minute I paid $300 for a new printer that is defective and you are going to replace it with a refurb. I said absolutely not, she said then you will need to return it to amazon, call ended. went to amazon signed in and went through to return process only to find out amazon wouldn’t replace it, they offered me an opportunity to by something else or credit my account or refund to my payment method. All I want here is a replacement printer. so, i looked up the printer I ordered HP 9135e and to my total shock it was now $130 more than what I paid just five days ago. NO WAY. You would certainly think Amazon would have offered to replace it with the same printer I originally purchased for the same price, BUT NO THEY DID’NT. so Bottom line is, I not only do not have a printer I am also stuck with $152 worth of ink I can’t use, nor can it be returned. SO BOTTOM LINE HERE DO NOT BUY HP 9135E, AND GIVE SERIOUS THOUGHT TO WHETHER YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT Mr. Bezos. Remember everything amazon sells can be purchased elsewhere and in a lot of cases for the same money or less. HP is definitely not the company they used to be, I have been buying HP laptops and printers for 40 years, NOT ANYMORE.

  3. HP wins again

I’m giving this a 5 because now that I’m using this printer, it’s been such a great upgrade for our home.

I held on to my old HP OfficeJet 4650 for almost 10 years. It was truly a fixture in our home and helped with school projects, work, and everything in between. But with homeschooling, its output just wasn’t enough anymore, and it was finally time to upgrade. It still works, and my son even moved it into his room, but we needed something with larger capacity and the same reliability.

The setup… yikes. That part did not go smoothly. It kept saying the front cover was missing, and I had to unplug and replug several times just to move to the next step. After about an hour of frustration, I gave up and finished the setup two days later when I was less annoyed.

Once it was finally set up, everything has been a breeze.

Scanning works well, and printing from laptops, desktops, and phones is easy. The print color is beautiful, printing is fast, and the noise level is about the same as my old printer, not loud, but not quiet. I’ve already printed large packets and have been very pleased with the speed, color quality, and ink capacity.

I’m still a bit confused by the second paper tray, it doesn’t seem to fit my regular paper, which is probably user error on my part and something I need to read more about. I can’t seem to get it to extend enough for my paper.

I’m also one of those people who always forget to buy ink, so I actually appreciate the automatic ink ordering process. You can buy HP cartridges separately, but it does require HP ink, which I only buy anyway. I like the security and consistency of using the product designed for the printer.

Yes, the ink is expensive, that’s a whole separate conversation, but compared to my old printer, where I had to replace multiple cartridges constantly to print large packets, the overall cost makes sense. I could easily spend close to $100 on ink and still not get this level of output before.

Overall, if you need a reliable home printer that can handle heavy workloads, I highly recommend this one.

Have had problems installing this printer. Have had to reinstall it more than 5 times at least this past year. Currently has been offline for 2 months. Have spoken with HP TECH twice in past two days. They can’t get it to install either. They will call me once more tomorrow 2/21/26. Am told by tech if they can’t fix, they will replace it. Fingers crossed.

Working as advertised and doing the instant refill program. Very convenient. Not sure about the AI print, because takes longer and seems to sometimes distort picture. Will continue to see if it is a learning curve.

Item delivered on time, was as described, great customer service. Because there is a “minimum 50 characters,” I close in saying the HP – OfficeJet Pro 9135e Wireless etc. has a very noisy warm up cycle.
