- Connectivity and Setup Challenges: Many customers found the initial setup complicated and time-consuming, often encountering difficulties with wireless connectivity, frequent disconnections, and the printer not being recognized by devices, sometimes requiring multiple reboots or extensive troubleshooting.
- High Ink Costs and Restrictive Policies: A major point of dissatisfaction is the high cost of HP's proprietary ink cartridges and the mandatory nature of the HP Instant Ink subscription, with some users reporting the printer becoming unusable if non-HP ink is detected or the subscription is cancelled.
- Noise and Mechanical Issues: Several reviewers noted the printer is considerably noisy during operation. Other mechanical problems include frequent paper jams, the output tray bending printed pages, and the scanner feeder being unreliable or slow.

Fine as a printer, useless for scanning.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Ronald K. Bitter March 5, 2025Review source: AmazonPrinting functionality is fine. Scanning is useless. It is extremely slow, requires way to many steps and the HP app is terrible. The printer frequently has connectivity issues despite having access to a gig speed fiber network. I would not recommend any HP product if you need a functional scanner.

HOURS TO SET UP! CORD FALLS OUT! SCANS DISAPPEAR!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Janet B. February 27, 2025Review source: AmazonI HATE THIS PRINTER! I am not a dumb person. I am the “electronics genius” of my household. This effer took 4 HOURS to set up. 1) It will absolutely not work if you have your VPN (virtual private network, for the seniors); they should tell you this, because even when you enable it in your VPN, HP is not having it; 2) Despite downloading apps, registering for HP+, entering and verifying my email, you have to enter your email into the app and printer multiple times if, say, you want to scan to it; THEN SCAN NEVER SHOWS UP! 3) Instructions (physical and electronic) are very poorly written, hard to close out of windows (you have to close the whole app or go back to Home on the printer), and the tiles/icons make no sense in many cases; 4) The software is as bad as the Walgreens app software (never thought I’d say that); 5) WHY DOESN’T THE CORD STAY CONNECTED?! (If you sneeze on the opposite side of the room, your printer cord is no longer connected, and you have to start the whole setup process again!); 6) Customer service never called (promised in approximately 10 minutes), AI Chat was crap, and you cannot get a human to save your life…
Shame on you, HP, you used to be synonymous with quality…Maybe you are foregoing development/quality for shareholders? How did that work out for Boeing?…

A Piece of JUNK
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Francine S. February 27, 2025Review source: AmazonDO NOT BUY! I have spent many phone calls with HP tech support, usually 1 to 2 hours per phone call. Eventually they just replaced the printer. the second one was no better. One of the techs eventually told me I need to replace my Windows 10 computer, as this printer is designed to work with windows 11. When they replaced the computer, the inner workings has frozen up, and I could not remove the print head. Eventually they replaced the print head and the locked in print cartridges. But they insist that you buy ink on a monthly subscription. One of the tech support people quickly just signed my up for the subscription without asking. You can buy ink cartridges at retail stores but they do not contain as much ink as the subscription cartridges. A good use for this printer is as a target for my.44 magnum. It should be perforated with six each.44 caliber holes tomorrow. I’ve replaced this printer with a Canon and am very happy with it.

Good buy for small business
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Amber R Kirkman February 26, 2025Review source: Amazonabout this to help print out prints for my job works very well. The only thing I don’t like is with the HP printing system if you’re not paying for their stuff, they will make it to where you cannot print off your items which I think is ridiculous. Other than that, though a very good printer fast easy to use and you can front away from home and It will be there when you get there
