Pros & Cons
Pros
- Ideal Compact Size: The 4-quart capacity is perfect for individuals, couples, or small families, fitting easily on countertops and in cabinets without sacrificing cooking power.
- Enhanced Safety and Stability: Users appreciate the redesigned steam release switch located away from the vent and the anti-spin pot design that keeps the liner stable while stirring.
- Versatile Performance: This appliance effectively replaces multiple kitchen tools by functioning as a fast pressure cooker, a reliable slow cooker, and an efficient rice maker.
Cons
- Lack of Documentation and Accessories: Many reviewers noted the absence of a physical instruction manual or recipe book, and expressed frustration that replacement liners and specific accessories are currently hard to find.
- Fixed Power Cord: Unlike some other models, the power cord is permanently attached, which several users found less convenient for storage and cleaning.
- Pot Maintenance Issues: Some customers reported that the stainless steel inner pot stains easily, develops hard water spots, or experiences food sticking, particularly when cooking rice or oatmeal.

Novice-friendly
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.HH October 15, 2025Review source: AmazonIt’s really useful to use, especially the pressure cook feature. I’m very impressed that I can cook rice within 10 minutes. I cook for myself and the size is perfect to prep meal. However, the silicone band absorbs the smells easily, it’s hard to deodorize after washing. Other than that, it’s worth the price.

Leaks everywhere. Not safe
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Kindle Customer October 14, 2025Review source: AmazonThe steam/pressure release exploded black bean water all over my kitchen on first use. The condensation collector did not work at all either. My entire stove ended up covered with black bean water. I am very disappointed. My previous instapot, the Evo duo plus, was amazing. Even just nudging this model slightly had it releasing steam when it shouldn’t.

So much better!!

I’ve had an Instant Pot Mini 3 qt since they came out several years ago. I was the perfect size for just the two of us, yet big enough when a couple of the kids stopped by. Fast forward to now. This Instant Pot Rio is bigger by 1 quart, but, the best part is that it has a wider base and isn’t as deep. It really helps when you want to saute something before you pressure cook it and, it heats very evenly across the unit and seems to build pressure more quickly. The new pressure release valve is a lever toward the front do you don’t need to worry about hot steam hitting your hands or arms. Huge bonus for us is that the sounds (think button touch and alarms) are much quieter! They are still very audible, but not so blaring loud like the older ones. Another plus is that the inner stainless pot doesn’t constantly rotate when you’re trying to saute or mix ingredients!! Overall, it’s much easier to use, easier to clean, functionality improved and the added color selection (I got white) is fantastic!! All in all, your food can taste good and you don’t have to break the bank to buy it, such a great value!

A very convenient compact Instant Pot
Nancy M. October 14, 2025Review source: AmazonThis little Instant Pot works like a charm. I couldn’t be happier with it. I have a 6 quart Instant Pot Duo. It is large and heavy and when stored kind of a pain to get out. Earlier this year, I learned that Instant Pot made a 3 quart model and I ordered it, thinking I could store it on a kitchen cart. It was too tall, but was a little easier store and I really for the most part didn’t need to make 6 quart quantities. However, despite ordering cookbooks for the 3 quart, it was never clear how to adjust the liquids and times for the pressure cooking. Then along came this 4 quart Instant Pot Rio and all of my problems were solved. The Rio is shorter in stature, allowing me to store it on the kitchen cart. An added bonus is that the glass liid that I bought for my 6 quart instant pot fits the 4 quart perfectly. I have used the Rio for both pressure cooking and slow cooking and it works really well. The recipes that I used with the 6 quart Instant Pot work with the 4 quart. Now for the aspects of the Rio that I’m sure some people won’t like. It doesn’t have a low pressure setting (though I can’t ever remember ever using it), nor does it have soup/broth, meat/stew, beans/chili. or porridge settings. I never used them, so can live without them. The 4 quart Rio has a wider bottom, which makes it better for sautéing. It has a vent switch on the top that it away from where the steam comes out. After releasing the pressure, it automatically switches back to sealed. All and all, I can’t be more pleased with this purchase. I will be using the Instant Pot much more frequently than in the past.

My favorite!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Barb October 14, 2025Review source: AmazonLove the size. For 2-3 people it is really great and the wider insert is amazing. Easy to sauté food do to having more of the food in contact with the bottom of the pot. Also the whole instant pot is lighter in weight and easier to maneuver. I have several instant pots and this one is my favorite.
