Great "mini" pot
glvr1 October 11, 2025Review source: AmazonAs a preface, I also own a Duo 7-in-1 6QT Instant Pot and I adore it. There are a few minor differences between the Duo and the Rio Mini:
1. The Duo as a 6QT is great for making a TON of freezable food, far more than 1 person can eat a week. The Rio Mini makes a little more than I can eat in a week by myself, without freezable leftovers. This is not a negative for either device.
2. The RMini noises are more pleasant. Sort of a muted beeping sound, where the Duo beeps are frankly unpleasantly piercing.
3. The cord on the Duo is removable for easy cleaning and storage. The RMini cord is not. I don’t really have a complaint either way.
4. There is now a switch-type button on the FRONT of the lid of the RMini that let’s you vent the BACK end without getting close to the steam. This is a MAJOR improvement and I am SUPER GRATEFUL.
5. The RMini has fewer overall functions (and buttons), and unlike the Duo it doesn’t start automatically – you have to hit the start button. But it covers all the essentials, and the manual on button is honestly reassuring; it just took a little adjustment.Overall I am delighted with the new device and it works great 👍👍
BTW, Unlike what the advert implies, you still can’t wash the lid in the dishwasher. Honestly, it’s not even really a major concern for me, but I had been intrigued when I read the description so figured I should notify anyone like me.

Execellent tool to make you re-examine how you cook food

It has become my go to method for cooking rice, green beans, broccoli. I have recently started to use this for making some stews as well, and it’s soo muc easier/safer to use having the programs run the heat vs leaving my stovetop running gas for hours on end.

I absolutely love this smaller instant pot. The 4 quart size maybe too small for larger families, but it does work for my family of four including myself and my three adult sons. This version is very well-made, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from instant pot. Most recently I made a pot roast in this pressure cooker and it was delicious. The best part about it is that you’re able to sauté and pressure cook in the same pot and it’s such an easy cleanup for a quick and yummy meal.
Another great part about this particular instant pot is that the 4 quart size allows for it to come to temperature a lot more quickly than the larger versions. However, when I made the pot roast last week, I served it with mashed potatoes, so I did not have anything other than some carrots and onions to flavor of the roast. If I wanted to add carrots, potatoes, and other vegetables to add as a side I would’ve needed to use the larger instant pot. My pot roast was cooked to perfection in about an hour, and it took about half the time to come to pressure because this pot was so much smaller than the other one.
This appliance is very versatile with a lot of different cooking functions; however, I usually just stick to the pressure cook or sauté settings. One more thing is that there are two pressure cooker settings: low and high. The same is true for the sauté function.
More features to love with this instant pot are that the pan does not spin if you’re storing contents because the handles set into place and stay there AND the pot is flat on the bottom so you can use it on the stove top.
I know that these electric pressure cookers can be expensive however they do go on sale quite frequently and at the reduced price is definitely a great value for the money. I use my instant pot at least 3 to 4 times a week. It cleans up easily. It cooks food to perfection without much effort. What else could you possibly need in a cooking appliance?
Hands down one of the best items I’ve ordered.

This is the same size base, just shorter so it will be much easier to clean. Wish I’d purchased it sooner! Arrived yesterday so I haven’t cooked in it yet, just did the test run using the included instructions and it worked perfectly. Will definitely be using it tonight!!
