Pros
- Ideal Compact Size: The 4-quart capacity is perfect for individuals, couples, or small families, fitting easily on countertops and in cabinets without sacrificing cooking power.
- Enhanced Safety and Stability: Users appreciate the redesigned steam release switch located away from the vent and the anti-spin pot design that keeps the liner stable while stirring.
- Versatile Performance: This appliance effectively replaces multiple kitchen tools by functioning as a fast pressure cooker, a reliable slow cooker, and an efficient rice maker.
Cons
- Lack of Documentation and Accessories: Many reviewers noted the absence of a physical instruction manual or recipe book, and expressed frustration that replacement liners and specific accessories are currently hard to find.
- Fixed Power Cord: Unlike some other models, the power cord is permanently attached, which several users found less convenient for storage and cleaning.

The easiest chilli I have ever made and only thing I’ve ever owned that makes rice BETTER than another item I own specifically marketed as a rice cooker. Highly recommend! Its compact size makes it super easy to keep right on my countertop and the insert bowl makes clean up a breeze!

Great updates and advantages
Happy Camper September 18, 2025Review source: AmazonI’ve owned other pressure cookers, but none had the advantages this one does.
The controls are straightforward and easy to use. One quick glance through the instructions and we were good to go.
The stainless steel pot is well made and marked with measurements. The steam vent has a switch so you don’t need to touch the actual vent. We got the black exterior and I’m glad because the pink color is cute but black matches our kitchen better.
The first time I used it, I asked AI for a basic recipe that included a 24 oz jar of marinara sauce and a 1 lbs box of protein penne pasta. I added 3 cups of water to the pot along with 3 vegetable bullion cubes and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, poured in the penne pasta and used a spoon to get it under the water, topped with some Italian spice mix, then poured in the sauce. No stirring. I set it to cook for 4 minutes then let it naturally release for 5 minutes.
I opened the vent and let it go while I set the table. When I removed the lid, the dish was perfect! It had done its own stirring and was ready to go, but I did fluff it a bit with a serving spoon.
It was perfect! I’ll probably leave out the 1/2 teaspoon of salt in the future because the sauce and broth cubes are probably adequate.
In any case, the pasta was perfectly done. No boiling and draining required. No mess on the stove. The prep tools were a spoon and the interior pot.
This Instant Pot requires about the same amount of effort as unboxing and microwaving a family sized dinner, if not less. But this way it’s also fresh food and you can tweak whatever you like.
Right now I’ve got it set to make yogurt, and that’s huge because I can’t have dairy. The vegan versions at the store are delicious but ridiculously expensive. It’s so easy and only took a minute to mix in some of the store bought as culture.
The only thing I’m not too excited about is the steamer insert. It’s fine for larger vegetables or pieces but not for smaller bits because the gaps are huge.
In any case, this Instant Pot helps reduce cleaning to almost nothing, and it does a great job. I’m super happy with It!

Mini but Mighty! Instant Pot RIO Hits the Sweet Spot
Danielle Wilkinson September 16, 2025Review source: AmazonIf you want all the conveniences of an Instant Pot without monopolizing your kitchen counter, this is it. Here’s what really stood out to me:
The 7-in-1 functions cover everything I need: pressure cooking, slow cooking, sauté, steaming, rice, yogurt—plus keeping food warm. Having all those modes in one appliance is a huge plus.
Size is perfect. Four quarts is enough for about 3-4 servings, ideal when cooking for myself or a small family. And it doesn’t take up much room.
It cooks fast—definitely beats traditional cooking in many cases.
Cleanup is also a win: stainless steel pot, dishwasher-safe lid—no hassle.
It’s beautiful!
If you want an Instant Pot that’s portable, versatile, and still powerful, the RIO Mini is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

I like it
Jennifer S. September 16, 2025Review source: AmazonThis Rio multicooker by Instant Pot is a useful tool. I’ve never used an instant pot before. I have used an old school pressure cooker to do things like canning, but the countertop version is new to me.
The appliance is fairly large, but easy to set up. Mine is white. The directions recommend that you do a “test run” with water to test out the pressure cooking function and I thought it was an easy way to learn some of the functions. You will want to use it out in the open, not under cabinets, when using as a pressure cooker because of all the steam it lets off.
I used the pressure cooker function to make chicken and rice, and that went well. It does take some time for the pressure to build, but once that happens the cooking is quick. I also tried out the saute function. It worked well too but is really hot. Like it never got past preheating and my veggies were already browning, so I had to turn it off.
I haven’t used the slow cooking function but it appears to be quite a bit smaller than normal slow cookers, so I would need to adjust my recipes accordingly. The metal insert is a bit tough to clean. There was still residue on it after washing very thoroughly and I had to get an abrasive cleaner out to get all of it off.
Useful, but probably won’t replace any of my preexisting appliances.

Perfect Size for Small Households, Surprisingly Versatile
Rat Guy September 15, 2025Review source: AmazonThis compact pressure cooker has become my go-to kitchen companion. The 4-quart size is ideal for my small apartment, yet the cooking surface is surprisingly generous. I love how quickly it heats up and the clear progress indicator takes the guesswork out of cooking. While the cord could be more substantial and I wish extra inner pots were available, these are minor concerns compared to how well it performs. The new front-positioned steam release makes me feel safer, and it runs much quieter than my previous cookers. For singles or couples, this is the sweet spot between counter space and cooking capacity.

Functional but small without saving space
Amazon Shopper September 15, 2025Review source: AmazonI like this instant pot pressure cooker. It’s cute. The size is interesting though, and I’m not sure I see the reasoning. Yes, the four quart size is smaller than the six quart- I have both. However, the smaller size really just makes it less versatile, as the “small” size has the same footprint of the larger, and in fact is slightly wider with the shape and handles and all, so it takes up the same amount of counter or shelf space as the big size. Additionally, the cord is thinner, but also not removeable to store inside, so it really takes up more space. And you can’t fit as much into it. It’s good for smaller servings, but you could always just make smaller servings in the big one.
Anyway, I do like the white color so far. I am hoping not to stain it horribly, but so far so good. It’s a simple interface, with simplified controls, and it’s pretty easy to use. Price wise I think it’s on the high end of things, as a smaller, simpler pressure cooker should come with a smaller simpler price.
As far as function, it seems well built and works just as it should. The venting switch makes it easier to tell which mode you are in and the display panel is nice and clear. -
Instant Pot 4qt RIO Multi-Cooker
M Gerrish September 15, 2025Review source: AmazonAs I usually cook for two with hopes of some leftover, a 4-quart pot is the perfect size for our household. I love that the pot is stainless and NOT non-stick, which I avoid.
The use is pretty self-explanatory and easy to get going. One thing I love to make in a slow cooker is overnight oatmeal. I saute fruit (this Instant Pot sautes within a range you can choose), add cinnamon, add steel cut oats, stir it around, add liquid, stir it around, seal and set to Keep Warm. This system will keep food warm for up to 10 hours, and a lot of slow cookers don’t. In the morning, the oatmeal is done. Give it a stir and serve.
The speed with which it gets to the desired temperature differentiates between high and low slow cooking. When cooking on low, this system got to 205F quite quickly, about as fast as it arrived when cooking something on high. That could be a problem for some meal plans. It doesn’t bother me, that’s pretty much where I want it anyway.
The saute feature works really well, and it gives you the option to pick your temp (within a range). It makes for true one-pot cooking, which I appreciate very much.
The manufacturer is excited about the pot not swirling about while one is stirring. That feature is good, but it doesn’t take much to get the pot on the move. Not a deal breaker, but if you’re hoping the pot “stays put,” you’ll be a little disappointed.
An excellent price for a cooking system that works quite well.

Instant Pot Reliability and Versatility, in the perfect size for everyday cooking
Jojo Breckinridge September 14, 2025Review source: AmazonAs someone who cooks nearly every day, I have come to rely on tools that perform in a consistent and efficient way. I was very excited to get the new Instant Pot Duo Mini 4-quart. I already own a 6-quart which is great for entertaining, making large batches of stock, and yogurt. But this smaller model is perfect for everyday meals for my 2-person household.
I love that it has the full range of functions I’m accustomed to in my 6-quarter model: Pressure Cooking, slow cooking, sauteeing, rice cooking, yogurt, and warming. I’ve used it to make mushroom risotto and a small batch of yogurt; both turned out excellent. The risotto was creamy and evenly cooked, and the yogurt came out with the same great results I’m used to.
This model has a hinged lid instead of the twist-off of the larger version. Similar to other models, it has a stainless steel inner pot that’s dishwasher safe and easy to clean. The controls are Instant Pot simple, with one touch you can easily produce great results. This model also has the usual safety features of Instant Pot models like automatic sealing lid and overheat protection. If you’re new to pressure cooking, it’s natural to feel worried about “doing it wrong”, but Instant Pot makes cooking nearly foolproof.
This model is really ideal for side dishes, smaller meals, or really anything I just don’t need the full-size pot for. I also like being able to “set and forget” while I go about my day.
Bonus: The “Sea Salt” color is such a nice twist from the typical black and chrome IP color! Looks great in my kitchen.
