Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Ideal Compact Size: The 4-quart capacity is perfect for individuals, couples, or small families, fitting easily on countertops and in cabinets without sacrificing cooking power.
  • Enhanced Safety and Stability: Users appreciate the redesigned steam release switch located away from the vent and the anti-spin pot design that keeps the liner stable while stirring.
  • Versatile Performance: This appliance effectively replaces multiple kitchen tools by functioning as a fast pressure cooker, a reliable slow cooker, and an efficient rice maker.

Cons

  • Lack of Documentation and Accessories: Many reviewers noted the absence of a physical instruction manual or recipe book, and expressed frustration that replacement liners and specific accessories are currently hard to find.
  • Fixed Power Cord: Unlike some other models, the power cord is permanently attached, which several users found less convenient for storage and cleaning.
  • Pot Maintenance Issues: Some customers reported that the stainless steel inner pot stains easily, develops hard water spots, or experiences food sticking, particularly when cooking rice or oatmeal.

  1. Well-made, sturdy, versatile, and just as good as the big ones

Picked this up because I don’t find myself needing to cook as much food with the kids moving out. I wanna say it’s got a couple fewer presets as some models, but it’s got what are for me, the important ones with saute, pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming, rice, and yogurt. It shares its more wide and stout stance its bigger brother has, albeit with a smaller volume, this one being 4 quarts compared to the 7.5 quarts of the bigger Rio Wide. That wider profile gives it more surface area on the bottom for searing and sauteing. Made a sort of jambalaya by frying up some meat and veg on the saute setting, added rice and stock and then cooked it on the rice setting and it came out perfect! Love the addition of the light-up status icons that show you what point your dish is at. I’ve always thought there’s not much a slow cooker can do that an Instant Pot can’t do that much better, but given you can slow cook in this as well, why choose between the two? It’s quite well made and sturdy, with good heft and grippy bottom to prevent shifting. I can’t recommend it enough if you find the bigger Instant Pots to be too much for your needs.

  2. Easy to use this one

This pot is wonderful! I have a larger instant pot that is much harder to operate and doesn’t do half as good as this one. When I’m cooking for two this is perfect. The operation of this pot is simple and the front panel is easy to read the time remaining from a distance. I may stop using my old one completely. The color is my only difficulty, if it was an easier color to match everything it would be absolutely perfect.

  3. Light weight

I guess I have every ‘version’ and size made by instapot. I needed to downsize and also wanted one in black and this worked out perfectly. Love the new location of the steam button.

My older 6 qt Duo Nova just died. I was hesitant to purchase this one because I had numerous accessories for my old 6 qt that I was afraid would not fit here. Good news – glass lids, mesh steamer, silicon forms fit perfectly. Air fryer lid does not fit and does not lock (not compatible!).
It looks very stylish and doesn’t take too much space. 4 qt seems perfect size for my needs.

It is perfect for my weeks meal prep. I’m only one person and the 6qt is too big. This is just right and it fits on the counter better than a crockpot

  7. Five stars from someone who does not like to cook

So truth be told I am not a fan of cooking. I cook because I have a family, and it is usually best to feed said family.
I have three people to feed, and this is perfect for that. It’s a four quart and is not huge and bulky, but it makes a substantial amount of food. I usually do meal kits to keep things simple, but this is a much cheaper option.
There’s lots of options that I can throw in and have work together well. Within half an hour I had a nice garlic chicken, potato and quinoa meal ready to go. The nice part is I’m not slaving over a stove during that time. All I manually had to do was seer the chicken, and cut up the potatoes, the rest was just placing them in the right way, setting the machine, and walking away while it did its thing.
I like that I can seer the meat before cooking in the pot to seal in the juices. Then I basically add the food and wait. This is nice of course because this means the only other thing, besides the pot, I have to clean are measuring cups and cutting boards.
Most important the food tastes good. It’s juicy and flavorful thanks to some decent broth (which you will need) and some basic spices.
There is a learning curve, like figuring out whether to manually or naturally release the pressure, which depends on what you are cooking. If I choose to naturally let the pressure release I have to remember to turn off the “keep warm” function, or it takes longer to depressurize and can overcook the food. (I know this because I did this to my poor pork chops, the meal was still yummy, but the chops were a touch dry)
Timing is an issue to consider too. It will say you have to cook something for a minute, but that is a minute after the 10-15 min the pot takes to build pressure. Adding ingredients in the middle of cooking will also cause you to wait for it to re-pressurize before it starts cooking again, so it’s best if you decide to add to the meal, to do it after the meal has cooked. For example: to add frozen peas so they don’t over-cook, you can wait for the meal to cook and depressurize, add the frozen peas put the lid back on and in a few min they should be warm up just fine.
Also if you need to naturally let it depressurize, it could add 15 min or more to the end of the cooking time. So depending on what you’re making, it will most likely be less work, but you will have to allow for the extra time the pot needs to cook the meal. In my opinion this is a fair trade.
I’m actually looking forward to digging through my freezer to find the goodies I got, but haven’t had time to cook, and see what I can put together with this pot. This alone is well worth the price.

  9. Such a great brand

I thought this was going to be all small and adorable but not super useful and man was I wrong! This is a decent sized pressure cooker from my favorite brand and its great! This can do all the things I want on a slightly smaller scale. It’s easy to use, can create almost anything you’d want (like chili, yogurt, roast, or really anything!) Plus the pastel color is adorable. Wish it came in other colors but the pink is def adorable!

  10. Perfect product!

I bought this along with the air fryer and I absolutely love them both. I have made several “one pot” meals so far & they have been great. There was a slight learning curve for pasta but very slight…I just left the first batch in too long. I can’t wait to try making my own yogurt!!
