LG 32″ UltraGear™ (32GQ750) 4K UHD 144Hz 1ms Gaming Monitor with FreeSync™

First off, I don’t do a ton of gaming so this review is kind of going to come from a weird spot, but it might help some of you.

First off after doing a little testing the refresh rate, and everything seems to do what it is stated it will do. I do know there are some issues with certain issues a very high frame rates, but I have not noticed any of these. But like I said, I’m not a competitive gamer. The brightness on this unit is very good, especially once you enable HDR. I’ll hook this monitor up, set it up on my new Windows laptop and as soon as I went into the settings in Windows and enabled HDR the screen really came to life and became ultra crisp and beautiful.

I am visually impaired, so a clear monitor that has good brightness is extremely important to me. I have found that a lot of the gaming hardware actually can work well for people in my situation. The brightness is great having the 4K resolution especially when I’m using Magnifier makes things so much more crisp and clear easy to read, and makes navigating my online world so much easier and more comfortable on my eyes I did not have to do much set up on the monitor other than change the brightness slightly and do a little bit of adjustment to the contrast and shortness. Other than that I am running it pretty much stock. The ports on the monitor are great. The stand is decent. However, I am running it on a monitor arm and I think that is the way to do it. However, if using the stand, it is nice. It is easy to detach if you want to use a wall mount or a arm. The PowerBrick is a little large, but not overly large. And the cables are a good length. Everything is set up on the back in a good place making it look very clean especially when installed on a monitor arm. I also like the single button adjustment system. Once you get used to navigating the menus it is very easy to make any changes that are needed or switch between different game modes.

To be clear I purchased the 144Hz model for around 500, did not splurge for the 160hz version. Coming from a 6yr old $500 (at the time) 1440p 27″ Dell with 144hz to this, the bleed and blur is unreal, adjusting settings for “normal/ fast/ fastest” improves a little but in “fastest” there may be less blur but a high amount of bleeding and the coloring becomes odd with brights and darks and what looks like higher sharpness as motion is on the screen, and when you are still this look normal again. This is with HDR off, with it on I feel like it’s often less vivid or some games will be overly crazy bright. Adjusting settings does not offer much the address the response issues. While it’s probably still better than a 60Hz 4k monitor (I do not have one to compare) other than 4k it sadly does not compare to my old Dell when it comes to a sharp and smooth flowing response. Based on that and the current price I’m kind of on the fence about keeping our returning it. I do like the 4k resolution but I thought a 144Hz and 1ms response time (just like my old one boasts) would, you know, offer the same experience. Couldn’t tell you if pricier ones would be better but this one just isn’t a good ad it could be. If quality response times in 4k are what you are shopping for this one may not be the choice.

Review is for the 32GQ750. I wanted a flat 32” 4k monitor with high refresh and gsync. I do a lot of dark room gaming, so IPS was a no-go. That rules out like 95% of the monitors out there. OLED of this spec isn’t really available and if it was it would be a couple grand and still prone to burn in. I’m not sure the sister monitor of this (the 32UQ750-b I think it’s called) is gsync capable, so this 32GQ750 is sort of a one of a kind right now.

After scouring reviews, online forums, and YouTube, it seemed like the only option for me. The only thing I had to do was get a new 1.4 DisplayPort cable because the one that came with this monitor is trash (was falling apart and had a ton of flickering). It’s well worth the extra $7 to get a decent DisplayPort cable if you want to use the monitor’s full capabilities, and that’s a mark against LG for putting such a trash cable in the box, when a good one would have cost them an extra $3 at most. To use gsync you’ll have to go into nVidia control panel and check the “enable settings for selected display model” and of course check “show indicator for gsync” to make sure it’s working in game.

I needed a gaming monitor compatible with the ps5 and this monitor works perfectly!!!! Graphics look amazing. Color is amazing. No blurring or weird lines on the screen. Works great at 120 hz. Very satisfied!!!!!!

This monitor came no where near the quality I expected from a $600 4k monitor. I went with the VA monitor for the high contrast ratio. Yet, the blackest blacks were gray. I fiddled with settings a little bit, maxing the brightness and contrast has well as I could, but eventually became irritated by the fact that it didn’t come with any setting guidance or factory presets that didn’t look terrible. Sure I could have gotten all the setting guidance off the internet, but for this money I expected better.

Also, regardless of any settings, the panel appeared overly bright in the center, while the 5-10% from the edges went darker and grayed out.

Also, do not be fooled by the stated return-ability on the listing. I am at 30 days since returning it to Amazon and still have not received a refund because they have to ship it back to the manufacturer and the manufacturer still has not “received” it. Amazon CS, just told me to trust them and wait. I don’t return many things, but I’ve Never had any issues before.

Pre sets cannot be customized with HDR on. (Just a heads up) but pre sets are pretty good out the box.
Stand is neat. I like the height and tilt adjustment.
VA panel looks good. Not a lot of screen ghosting, tearing etc…
No dead pixels on arrival. 1 month into use and still no issues.
No random shut offs from overheating.

For $479.00 I would highly recommend this product for great PS5 HDR 4K gaming.

The monitor has great picture when you are not using HDR on PC. However when I play any game, update graphics drivers the monitor forces itself into 4K when it should always be in 1440p. It gives an error that it is in the wrong resolution and you have to change the resolution back, but its already in 1440p. This is a horrible bug that looks to be a known issue with this monitor. I wish I would have seen these reviews before buying it. It is extremely frustrating to spend the money on this monitor. It having great picture and amazing refresh rate. It in many respects in an great monitor, it just does not function as it should. I really hope LG addresses this issue and will be likely being a new monitor do it this issue.

Finally made the leap to 144hz and HDR with this monitor. Switched from an Acer Predator 4k with outstanding response time and virtually zero ghosting.

Upfront, the colors are lovely in still frames. Config options are robust and numerous. Build quality seems good, too; zero dead pixels across two monitors. The stands are good quality. Being able to pivot 90 degrees is a welcome option. Setup was relatively fast and easy.

Unfortunately, I get significant ghosting when the screen environment is dark; e.g. I’m playing a video game and the scene is in a nighttime city or a dungeon. Issue persists across both monitors and multiple cables (including new ones with the latest HDMI/DisplayPort versions), and whether one monitor or both are active.

Other than that, there are other criticisms – no auto-switch to active inputs when the existing input powers down, frequently unresponsive OSD – but the ghosting is the big one. Extremely disappointing, especially at this price point.

I think these will be terrific monitors for work. Would not recommend for gaming, especially for PC.

Bought three of these “VA” monitors at $500 each (the “IPS” version was $800 at the time). Was NOT happy with the color depth as soon as I turned them on.
Returned them all and got five of LG’s “IPS” 32GR93U-B instead at $600 each after their price drop. MUCH happier now!
It would be nice if Best Buy displayed the “VA” and “IPS” versions of the same exact monitor next to each other so customers can see the color difference in person.
