🗣 Customers Say

The LG QNED85T is praised for its sharp picture quality, vibrant colors, and smooth performance. However, some users report issues with audio quality, remote usability, and panel inconsistencies. Many buyers appreciate its AI-enhanced display and gaming capabilities, but others note minor drawbacks in user experience and setup complexity.

Customer Reviews Summary

The LG QNED85T is a mid-range Quantum Dot NanoCell TV that balances high-quality visuals with affordability. Customers love the brilliant color accuracy, deep contrast, and smooth motion, making it ideal for gaming and movie-watching. The 120Hz refresh rate enhances the viewing experience, particularly for fast-paced action scenes and gaming.

Many users appreciate the built-in AI features, which automatically adjust picture and sound settings based on the content. The WebOS interface provides access to various streaming apps, though some reviewers find it less intuitive compared to competing platforms like Google TV. AI-driven optimizations ensure better upscaling of lower-resolution content, which improves the experience when watching non-4K material.

That said, audio performance is a mixed bag—while some users find it sufficient, others feel the built-in speakers lack depth, making a soundbar a necessary addition. The Magic Remote is another divisive factor; while it offers advanced features, some users struggle with its pointer-style navigation.

Additionally, some buyers mention that setup takes longer than expected, especially when tweaking settings for optimal performance. However, once configured, the LG QNED85T delivers an immersive experience with great usability and customization options.

✅ What Are the Advantages of This Product?

  • Exceptional Picture Quality: Customers highlight the vibrant colors, sharp contrast, and deep blacks delivered by the Quantum Dot NanoCell technology. “The colors are absolutely stunning,” one user wrote, adding that HDR performance is top-tier. The Full Array Local Dimming technology ensures better contrast and depth, making it ideal for dark room viewing.
  • 120Hz Refresh Rate for Smooth Motion: Gamers and sports fans love the 120Hz refresh rate, which minimizes motion blur and ghosting. “Gaming is a dream on this TV—super smooth with no lag,” one reviewer noted. With VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), this TV provides excellent response times for fast-action content.
  • AI-Powered Enhancements: The AI Picture and AI Sound Pro features optimize visuals and audio based on the scene. “The AI adjustments make a noticeable difference in both picture and sound,” a user commented. AI processing also helps enhance streaming content, reducing artifacts and improving clarity.
  • Wide Viewing Angles: Unlike VA panels, the IPS-based QNED panel offers better viewing angles, making it an excellent choice for large living rooms or group viewing experiences.

❌ What Are the Disadvantages of This Product?

  • Average Built-in Audio: Several users find the built-in speakers lacking bass and depth. “The sound is decent, but you’ll want a soundbar for a better experience,” a reviewer stated. Dolby Atmos support is present, but the internal speakers do not fully utilize its potential.
  • Difficult Remote Navigation: The Magic Remote’s pointer function is a common complaint, as some users find it inaccurate and frustrating. “It’s too sensitive and sometimes selects things I don’t want,” one customer said. A workaround is to disable pointer mode and use the directional buttons instead.
  • Panel and Backlight Inconsistencies: A few users reported light bleeding and uneven brightness, particularly in dark scenes. “There’s a noticeable glow around the edges, which is distracting during nighttime viewing,” mentioned one reviewer. Local dimming helps but is not as effective as OLED’s pixel-level control.
  • Setup Complexity: Many users find the initial setup process cumbersome, requiring multiple adjustments to get the best picture and sound quality.

🔄 How Has This Product Improved?

Compared to previous models, the LG QNED85T features better color accuracy, improved contrast, and a higher refresh rate. Many users note that motion handling has significantly improved, making it a great option for gaming and sports. The addition of Mini LED technology (in some regions) provides better brightness and local dimming performance.

⚖️ How Does This Product Compare to Other Options?

Compared to Samsung’s QLED TVs, the LG QNED85T offers deeper blacks and better color accuracy, but Samsung’s models often have brighter HDR performance. Against LG OLED models, the QNED85T is more affordable but lacks the infinite contrast of OLED technology. If long-term panel reliability and better brightness are your priorities, QNED may be preferable over OLED.

🎯 Is This Product Right for You?

If you’re looking for a high-quality, mid-range 4K TV with vibrant colors, smooth motion, and AI-enhanced features, the LG QNED85T is a strong choice. However, if you prioritize OLED-level contrast or need top-tier built-in audio, you may want to explore other options.

🔧 How to Fix Common Issues?

  • For better sound, adjust the EQ settings or invest in a soundbar.
  • To improve remote accuracy, disable pointer mode and use directional buttons.
  • For light bleeding issues, adjust local dimming settings and brightness levels.
  • Optimize HDR settings to reduce artificial enhancements that may cause blooming.

💡 How Can You Get the Best Experience with This Product?

  • Use Filmmaker Mode for the most accurate picture.
  • Pair it with a soundbar for enhanced audio quality.
  • Keep HDR and AI Picture Pro enabled for better contrast and clarity.
  • Use Game Optimizer mode for a better gaming experience.

🤔 Is This Product Worth It?

Overall, the LG QNED85T is a great choice for those who want a high-performance 4K TV with AI-powered enhancements. While audio and remote usability could be improved, its picture quality, smooth motion, and smart features make it a solid investment. If you want a reliable TV for gaming, movies, and general use, this is a strong contender in its price range.

Decent tv if you get it on sale

This is an edgelit tv – not a direct lit mini led.

Like: Pretty good image quality. Sharp, good colors, properly saturated.
Dislike: Edge lit technology issues are apparent and abundant: Light bleed and white blotches are very prominent in dark scenes. Bad sound quality, you’ll need a sound bar.

Clear picture

We went with the 85 series for a sharper picture. The TV is very thin and light weight compared to our last one. Best Buy couldn’t get this model, so we tried and used Amazon. Amazon saved us over $400.00 with less fees. Fees like removal of old TV $60.00 hookup new TV with wall mount $249.00 plus mount $129.00 The deliverymen were careful and did a great job setting up the TV with the included stands. I’ve told several people about these savings and good service.

Excellent until it died.

The picture and quality on this tv were excellent and I really am sad I’m returning the tv. After two days the screen turned off while using Netflix and didn’t come back on but audio remained. Then it entered a power cycle where it would turn on and off rapidly but with no screen input, but it still had audio. Day two it was fine for half an hour and then entered the power on cycle again and had screen flickering very bad. I’m assuming the backlight for the panel either died or was shorting out and causing something wrong with the power delivery. I even factory reset it and no dice. An excellent tv, but unfortunately for me it was very short lived.

Pretty good

Good mid range TV. The built in smart stuff works well enough. 120 Hz. Nothing spectacular. The built in speakers are garbage though. Almost unusable. You’ll need some kind of external sound solution.

Great quality picture, easy set-up

I did a lot of research on the LG QNED 55″ smart TV and the choice did not disappoint. Easy set-up and installation. The picture quality is an A+ and the sound quality is a noticeable improvement over Sony, Visio and TCL. I like the magic remote, however, i think they missed not having a lighted background for navigating in the dark.

It’s a fine tv but it’s not a qned85

The 2022 models of the qned85 were all full seat local dimming (uqa). And they quietly removed it from the 2024 models (tua). I’m super disappointed because I had a qned85 and loved it so I ordered the newer version thinking it would be at minimum a lateral move. Nope. But downgrade with the EDGE LIGHTING. Call it shrinkflation or something but be aware. The qned85 series are no longer full array. CHECK OUT THE QNED85UQA if you can find it still. Way better tv.

I think that it is a great TV and it can improve in-place withs some software updates!

A Very Nice TV Set! I purchased the NEW LG 55″ QNED85T Model 2024 TV from Amazon and it is a very nice TV and yet it does need some software updates. Yet, regardless of that and because of where other TVs align I would have given it a 19 out of 20 Stars and that is pretty hard to do and so I gave it 5 Stars. The model number of the TV is 55QNED85TUA and I think all of the versions except the 50″ and the 98″ use an IPS LCD LED EDGE-LIT Backlit panel and that the sizes of 55″ and many others use an IPS LCD Quantum Dot Nanocell LCD Panel. I did ask LG themselves and they clarified thus far that it is an Edge-Lit LED Panel and yet it is an LCD panel that is an EDGE-Lit LED Quantum Dot Nanocell LCD Panel that uses either a VA or IPS otherwise it would have been a TN TFT and that is something that would be vastly obscure at this point and so it is most certain something other than a TN TFT and in that size and you would most certain want to avoid a TN TFT as the others have vastly improved their response times with better viewing angles. I wanted to specify with exact specifications and finding them has been difficult. I most certain suspect that the model I purchased which is an LG 55″ QNED85T Model 2024 TV and model number: 55QNED85TUA is an IPS panel and that she is wearing her :Qdots glasses. I hope that it is an IPS panel since I wanted an IPS panel and thought it was an IPS panel and because the Refresh Rate improved over the VA panels and also the ghosting and yet whatever the actual panel type is that the :Qdots glasses aka Quantum Dot Nanocell was applied and that it in fact it does look very good! It most certain increased the color vibrancy and also the contrast and black brilliancy of the TV and even in 1080p and some other resolutions! I think that the TV does in fact do the best of both world’s and that is also something that is getting much better. I mean, it does 1080p and other resolutions and frame rates very good and that is a big benefit and it is why I chose this TV set. I hope that someday the FIPS panel is #1 home choice with a #2. QNED being used at restaurants and also some other locations where a more rosey lightning is used and that #3. The Plasma reborn as a Cold and Black Plasma for artwork as being the arms and head of the TVs and the #4. TN TFTs and #5. VAs as being the legs as they often times require a Matte screen that makes them look very impressive and eye-popping at smaller sizes with extreme resolutions and refresh rates and response times. This TV does have a Brown problem and yet it can be corrected some in the “Black” and “White” Stabilization and I think those controls need to exposed globally for all of the possible TV settings. In addition, I think that the TV also should provide a Brown color control for the this LCD Panel and for the Quantum Dot Nanocell glasses that she is wearing. The good news is that those are all just features in software updates and I tried the settings in many of the different modes for the TV and so the TV as is, she is quite a JEM! It is a very nice TV set! Though, the sound is a bit on the Bass Canon and needs to have the initial treble raised in the (7.5K, 8.5K, 9.5K, 12.5K, and 15.5K) and as little as .1 DB would even be something that would help to coverup a mega bass canon effect that was created for the TV and for some to express the necessity of an external sound system versus a TV having a better sound system and the good news again is that it is something that can be fixed in a Software Update. Also, the Bass Canon effect might be further be minimized by lowering the 100Hz and 50 Hz frequencies by .1 DB and then raising 175 Hz by say .1 DB and 700 Hz by .1 DB to make the pitches even more sharp and and those are some of my suggested minimal settings that would improve the sound quality and even the provided equalizer controls for the TV set and also help it sound a bit more sharp as it is a bit flat on her initial sound reproduction. Again, those are just some software updates. I would like some extra color controls for the TV and with the 4 Color Red Green shifted spectrum exposed she appears to be a Nineatron. I would want all of those color controls for the QNED and the Quantum Dots en general! It is a nice TV and I hope that some software updates make it a much nicer TV! Anyways, those were my initial impressions of the TV set! Thank You!!
