Summary of Customer Reviews

The MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27″ OLED QHD 360 Hz Gaming Monitor has generally received high praise from users across various shopping platforms. Customers are impressed with its vivid colors, high refresh rate, and OLED technology, which significantly enhance the gaming experience. The majority of users highlighted the superior color accuracy, deep blacks, and fast response times, making it a top choice for both competitive and casual gamers. However, some users reported issues with firmware updates and text clarity, particularly with the non-standard sub-pixel arrangement. Despite these minor drawbacks, the monitor’s overall performance and visual quality have left a positive impression on most users.

PROS

  • Vibrant Colors: The QD-OLED panel delivers exceptionally rich and vibrant colors. Many users noted the “gorgeous colors” and how “every shade is reproduced with stunning accuracy,” enhancing the overall visual experience, especially in games and movies.

  • High Refresh Rate: At 360 Hz, this monitor provides one of the highest refresh rates available, which is crucial for fast-paced gaming. Users have reported that “the refresh rate is insane,” significantly improving the smoothness of gameplay.

  • Deep Blacks and Bright HDR: The OLED technology ensures deep blacks and bright highlights, creating a stark contrast that enhances the visual depth of games and movies. As one user mentioned, “the blacks are inky, and the whites are bright,” making HDR content particularly striking.

  • Low Input Lag: The monitor’s low input lag is a major advantage for competitive gamers. One user stated, “It’s the fastest input response the world has ever seen,” highlighting the monitor’s capability to handle quick movements with precision.

  • Design and Build Quality: Many users appreciated the clean design and build quality of the monitor. It was often described as “solid” with a “very clean glossy display” that looks good in any setup.

CONS

  • Firmware Update Issues: Several users expressed frustration with the monitor’s inability to receive firmware updates. One user noted, “This monitor doesn’t support firmware updates which is crazy for a $750 monitor,” indicating a significant drawback for some customers.

  • Text Clarity: Some users reported issues with text clarity due to the monitor’s non-standard sub-pixel arrangement. A customer mentioned that “color fringing/ chromatic aberration causing blurry text” was a noticeable problem, especially for those who use the monitor for both work and gaming.

  • Burn-In Prevention Feature: The monitor’s burn-in prevention feature was noted as intrusive by some users. A review highlighted that “the monitor’s burn-in prevention feature, which includes a mandatory ‘panel protect’ pop-up every 4 hours, can be very disruptive,” particularly during long gaming sessions.

  • Limited Cable Options: The monitor lacks some expected cable inclusions, like a DisplayPort (DP) cable, which is a standard for gaming monitors. A user mentioned, “I wish it came with a DP cable,” indicating an area where the product package could be improved.

Who Should Buy?

The MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED is ideal for gamers who prioritize visual quality and speed. Its vibrant colors, high refresh rate, and low input lag make it a perfect fit for competitive gamers who need every possible advantage. Additionally, the deep blacks and bright highlights provided by the OLED technology are excellent for those who enjoy immersive single-player games or frequently watch HDR movies. However, if you require frequent firmware updates or use the monitor extensively for text-heavy work, you might want to consider other options.

Recommendation

Overall, users highly recommend the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27″ Gaming Monitor for its exceptional visual performance and gaming capabilities. The vibrant color output, combined with a high refresh rate and deep blacks, makes it a standout choice in its category. Despite some issues with firmware updates and text clarity, the monitor’s advantages in gaming performance and visual experience outweigh these drawbacks for most users. If you’re in the market for a high-end gaming monitor with OLED technology, this is definitely a product to consider.

This monitor is amazing

This monitor is absolutely bananas. It’s so smooth and the colors are so vibrant and amazing. I don’t think I could ever go back. The blacks are inky, the whites are bright. The colors pop everywhere. On top of all of this the 360hz refresh rate is even better than I could have imagined, it’s smooth as real life. I am very impressed with this monitor and it’s SO WORTH the price. Games have never looked so good than they do on this monitor and it is the perfect size for my setup. Also, the stand is really solid and works well, the KVM function works flawlessly, the monitor came quickly and worked perfectly out of the box.

No firmware updates?

I bought this monitor thinking it was the MPG version. I was originally ok with it because I didn’t need all the bells and whistles. I found out that this monitor doesn’t support firmware updates which is crazy that a $750 monitor doesn’t allow firmware updates. Other than that, it’s a great monitor but I can’t get past the no for ware updates.

Disappointment

Menu from the 1800th century, takes half an hour to change brightness.
Sharpness lacking.. about the same as my Koorui for $250..
Smooth, sure.. But at $802 total its not even impressive.
Felt totally tricked by reviewers. Back to $250 Koorui ultrawide which i am much happier with.

Huge flaw - You can't update the firmware.

I ordered this item and ended up returning it due to one reason: The firmware cannot be updated. That is a huge flaw from MSI. Spend $50 more and get the MSI MPG 271QRX. These new OLED monitors need occasional updates to fix issues and to add features. It is unbelievable that MSI would release this without having a way to update the firmware on it.

Not a QD-Oled monitor, but woled.

There’s chrominance overshoot, which isn’t supposed to be on QD-oled that happens to woled with white subpixel layout’s qd are supposed to curb that, and there’s purple fringing on blacks.

Really nice

Never had an oled before I can tell you this the best you can get highs refresh rate, high quality the best of two worlds easy setup, the best colors I’ve ever seen, the only bad thing is that when you play games like fps games a 60 fps or 120 it has more delay than other monitor but after 144fps not a problem

Best 1440p Oled experience

Having previously used the LG oled from last year, this monitor improves on all the issues I had with that monitor. Better brightness, better colors, glossy screen and no dirty screen effect. Just make sure you control the lighting in your room/office to get the best viewing experience.

Great Picture

Just got this monitor and I’ve been playing Call of Duty and some CSGO and the image quality from an IPS panel is incredible. The colors look richer and HDR is worth turning on. would recommend 100%

One of the best gaming OLED monitors for the price

Having experienced the magnificence of gaming on an OLED TV I just could not come back to my IPS monitor and enjoy it the same way. So everything changed when I got this monitor.
The image quality is superb both in SDR and in HDR. Great brightness and color accuracy is pretty spot on. It even comes with its own calibration report.
The refresh rate is just insane. Coming from 144 Hz you can really tell the difference with 360 Hz, mainly in FPS games but also in single-player ones. It’s such an all-round experience!
The main disadvantage of the MAG version is the firmware cannot be updated, and while I agree that is something to keep in mind, I have not found any dealbreaking issues at all with this monitor.
Very happy with my purchase!
