Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Stunning Picture Quality: Reviewers consistently highlight the monitor's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and deep blacks, thanks to its QD-OLED panel. Many users describe the visual experience as 'amazing,' 'gorgeous,' and a significant upgrade from IPS panels, making games and movies more immersive and enjoyable.
  • Great Value for Price: Many customers feel this monitor offers excellent value, especially when purchased on sale. They appreciate that it delivers high-end QD-OLED performance at a more affordable price point compared to other monitors in its class, making it accessible to a wider range of users.
  • Smooth Gaming Performance: The monitor's 165Hz refresh rate and fast response time contribute to a smooth and responsive gaming experience. Gamers report minimal screen tearing and stuttering, making it well-suited for fast-paced games and providing a competitive edge.

Cons

  • OLED Care Intrusiveness: Several reviewers find the MSI OLED Care feature, designed to prevent burn-in, to be somewhat intrusive. The periodic pop-up and mandatory maintenance cycle can interrupt gameplay or work, and some users wish there was an option to disable or schedule it more conveniently.
  • Glare Issues: The monitor's glossy screen can cause glare in brightly lit environments. Some users find the reflections distracting, especially when there is direct ambient light on the screen, which can diminish the deep blacks.
  • Inconsistent Quality Control: A few reviewers reported issues such as dead pixels, blemishes on the screen, or the monitor failing shortly after purchase. These experiences highlight potential quality control concerns and the inconvenience of dealing with warranty claims and returns.

  1. Let down

I did not like this panel, from its over saturated colors, to weird game visuals this monitor was a disappointment from the beginning. Then i found out i couldnt even update the firmware. And that was what did it. Yes it has a beautiful picture but the colors are way off and i hate how some of the color profiles actually raised the black levels against the white and it gives it like a floating island affect with your menus. Its not worth it to get this monitor. Jus spend the little more and get MSI 321URX or the Asus Rog swift. The top of the top when it comes to monitors rn heading in to 2025.

  3. Perfect for FPS games

After many different tries, (42in C4, Samsung 32in Ultrawide Oled, and a Samsung 55in Oled), this one has been the best so far for my PC. It’s the perfect size for 4k gaming at my desk. The colors are bright and vibrant. I play mostly Warzone and even with HDR turned off in game, the colors still look amazing. I am coming from a 32 inch LG IPS 1440p display and the difference is night and day compared to this OLED display. The response time is unmatched compared to any other type of PC display and it’s perfect for FPS games. I’ve had no issues updating the firmware via displayport either.

  4. Not great for people who work long hours from home

If you use the monitor continuously long enough, like if you work long hours with it from home, the MSI OLED Care process eventually cannot be avoided. You’ll get a warning and then it’ll just run for like 5-10 minutes. If you turn the monitor off and on again, it’ll run the next chance it gets. If you’re in a meeting, too bad. If you’re playing a game you can’t pause, too bad. You don’t even have the option to put it off for a few minutes to make the situation more manageable. It just runs when it wants to. It’s bad enough that you’re working so long that this becomes an issue. This is salt on the wound. Maybe you should take a break, but the monitor shouldn’t decide when you do.

And if there’s ever a firmware update to fix this, I won’t be able to apply it because it only works through a DisplayPort to DisplayPort connection and my laptop only has USB-C to DisplayPort, which, according to MSI’s instructions, doesn’t work.

The inputs are near the bottom of the monitor and facing downwards, so the cables are oftentimes visible. Get used to seeing that power cable.

But it’s not all bad. The improvement in text clarity vs my older 1440p 32″ IPS monitor ($300) was immediately noticeable and has so far been the most consequential difference. The lack of light bleeding thanks to the OLED panel is also noticeable in some situations. But, if you already have a 4K non-OLED monitor that’s perfectly fine, then to me it doesn’t seem worth an upgrade just for that. If you want to upgrade anyway, then this might still at least be cheaper than your other options.

Also, the monitor took more than 1 month to get delivered, at which point it was apparently too late to redeem a promotion that improved its value. I was told this a few days after trying to redeem it. Obviously this doesn’t affect the quality of the monitor. The text still looked great after I finally got it. But it’s still incredibly annoying.

Maybe the lateness of the monitor would’ve been understandable if it came with the latest version of the firmware. But it came with the oldest version of it. So I don’t know what the excuse is supposed to have been.

It took a lot of messing around with color settings to get the color just right but they are very good once you get the gamma and colors correct.

  7. Excellent Monitor

This is an excellent O-LED monitor. Color & pixels are great, and the Refresh Rate is more than enough. When running 4k on games the monitor provides stunning colors and runs smoothly with no screen tearing or artifacts. It works smoothly and is very easy to set up or customize how ever you like. Also the stand it comes with provides plenty of room to move around as needed. The Panel Protect feature does not impede normal use, and if needed can be set to 16 hour intervals instead of 4 hours or done manually. Also came with an 8k DP and 8k HDMI cable which is useful as I have multiple devices to take advantage of the different inputs. This is a great entry level monitor for 4k O-LED with a reasonable refresh rate for games.

  8. Great Quality at a fair price

    John Ota December 23, 2024
    Review source: Amazon

MSI has delivered a top-of-the-line OLED at a super competitive price. As expected of QD-OLED, the panel has excellent blacks and vibrant colors. As long as you’re not allowing sunlight to directly angle on the screen, I’ve not found glare to be noticeable. There are other panels that will deliver higher refresh rates for a significant premium, but frankly I find anything over 144hz to be overkill, and the price is definitely right for this monitor. I also find that the screen real estate is large enough for this monitor to handle productivity tasks adequetly. It feels like I’ve been waiting for a decade for an OLED capable of high refresh 4K gaming, and this monitor is definitely worth the wait.

Outstanding picture, no damaged pixels, built solid, convenient design, easy on-screen interface, and they actually put thought into the box — the monitor doesn’t have to be slid out from the top, the side, etc., the box opens like a monitor box should. Overall a solid 5. I recommend this monitor!
