Best Monitor I’ve owed
R. Crowley December 21, 2024Review source: AmazonI did not enter the holiday season intending to buy a new monitor, however the OLED price drops before Black Friday compelled me. I originally had selected a 27” 1440P QD OLED 240HZ monitor from another brand. While it worked well, I’ve been on 4K monitors for awhile. I felt like the detail and pop just weren’t there.
I saw the MSI MAG 321UP was only slightly more expensive. Given the investment, I didn’t want to regret my purchase. Upon setting the MSI 321UP, I was wow’d by the brightness, contrast and screen size. 32” is a bit larger than my normal setup, but I’ve warmed up to its size. I’ve had a couple WOLED TV’s and really enjoy them.
I feel like the color on this QD-OLED monitor is EXCELLENT and far superior in comparison. Games such as Diablo and Borderlands really pop. Infinite Blacks are a treat, goodbye IPS gray. HDR is much more effective on this panel than my IPS. Even in a well-lit room, I barely notice the reflections. I am not a multiplier gamer so the 165HZ refresh paired with a solid desktop has worked great for single player games.
With such a new product I was slightly worried about the OLED panel longevity on a monitor and text clarity. Neither has been an issue, despite using 8+ hrs a day for work. While time will tell with the Panel, MSI has a solid reputation for customer care. The Monitor protections are setup and should keep this running for a long time. I will say the one minor downside, I’ve noticed is it is not clear how to get it to wake from sleep. Sometimes it’s the OLED protection running, other times the yellow light isn’t blinking. Easily solved with the power button, but just FYI.
So back to my FOMO and regret, do I recommend this monitor, 100% yes. If you are looking for a cinematic gaming experience and can stretch the budget a bit you won’t regret it. This is a solid sweet spot for high end performance vs value especially if you can snag it during discount season.

It features a single USB-C port for video input that also claims to support 15W PD charging. Unfortunately, it doesn’t charge my Pixel 9 phone, Samsung tablet, Samsung headphones, or other devices I own—except an old portable USB battery pack.
Unlike more expensive monitors priced over $100 more, this model doesn’t include a built-in USB hub or fast USB charging capabilities. Aside from the significant improvement in image quality due to the OLED technology, it remains a basic 4K monitor.

All 8.3 million pixels on this display turn on and off, individually; as is the nature of OLED. To say this is a great benefit to your viewing experience would lying, horribly, it’s much more positively impactful than that.
I have plenty of high quality IPS monitors and I’ve had some “nice” VAs as well. This is my first OLED MONITOR however. Already witnessing what this technology can do for my living room, I felt I needed the same luxuries for my eyeball’s while using my PC. I was right, and I was rightfully rewarded. This specific display is (MSI – MAG321UP 32″ QD-OLED), is absolutely brilliant.
Why?
Peak brightness of its white are very good when viewing HDR content, such as media and games. Overall color brightness is also Outstanding. This makes 2D images POP and leaves them looking “near real”, appearing to have an almost 3D effect.
The 165Hz refresh rate is more than adequate for my 7950X3D, 7900 XTX, 64GB DDR5-6000 CL30, etc. setup. I often run games between 80-130ish FPS at native res, “real” 4k at max settings and the experience is simply breathtaking. The superb motion clarity, insane contrast and color volume just PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE with gaming and media content. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this monitor for the purpose of Gaming. *Caveat, if you play RTS games or others that feature long play sessions, while also sporting HUDs/GUI’s that are Always Present / persistent while playing, I wouldn’t Not buy this monitor (bc those games will also look Glorious), but I Would strongly consider purchasing the extended/supplemental Best Buy/Geek Squad warranty.
As far as my “OLED concerns” go:
The “Glare” of its glossy coating hasn’t negatively effective my viewing and I have lighting right above and in front of it that generally on.
The “raised black levels when ambient light is high” issue, also has not been witnessed as such with my eyeballs. There IS Some “Bounce” of light off the screen; as it is indeed glossy, but for me the coating of anti-reflective magic that they’ve used here has proven most sufficient.
It’s as clear with text as any of my high-res IPS displays.
My concerns with “OLED Burn-in”, have yet to be seen; pun intended. Tbh, idk if it ever will burn-in with the way I take care of it. My advice is the same with this and Everything else in your life; treat your things well and they’ll usually stay in the condition you prefer for an extended period of time. Ime, this is largely the determinant of how well or poorly things in general will “age”. In this case, I’d recommend using the anti burn-in features this monitor comes with and any other precautions you deem necessary. Basically, KNOW this is an OLED and act accordingly 😉
Overall, I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking to play games or consume any other multi media on their computer. Buy This monitor immediately if it’s in the budget. I think you’ll be very glad you did
*I am particularly sensitive to blue light and PVM and have enjoyed using this monitor Comfortably for long periods of time. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Packaged very well with no damage to contents. Upgraded from a 27 inch 1440 monitor and the difference is night and day. After a quick search on you tube I was able to setup the monitor settings. I sit a little over 2 feet from my monitor and have no difficulty viewing the entire monitor. I also have my monitor sitting close to a window and there is very little glare when the blinds are open. Very pleased with my purchase and I expect to be using this monitor for a very long time.
