I switched from IPS to OLED and of course, the image quality change is huge. No complaints on that part. My issues were:
1. Info was not clear whether this monitor had built-in speakers. A misleading review said it had, which was a feature I was looking for. No, this monitor does not have built-in speakers. Not much of an issue though, still important to point out.
2. Switching from different sources does not work well. I use this monitor for work via USB-C and for gaming via DP from different devices. From time to time the monitor is unable to detect signal when you switch source. On my previous monitor it was a simple thing with no issues at all. The strange thing is that in order to work, I have to manually unplug the power chord from the wall socket, leave it for a minute, and plug it again. Do you really expect this from a $1300 monitor?
3. Glossy screens suck! Smudges and fingerprint stains are normal (even when you are extra careful like me). Cleaning this monitor is painful. I only use distilled water and microfiber cloths and it takes up to an hour! Also, after all the extra care, I somehow managed to remove part of the anti-glare coating… ugh. The worst is any cough or sneeze near your monitor, BAM! another smudge.I’m taking this for warranty. Only used it for 4 months and pretty unhappy with it. I was super excited to have a top of the line monitor but my experience was not good at all.

This monitor is amazing. Deep blacks like it’s nighttime, incredible colors, and frankly it’s the best monitor I’ve ever used when it comes to details and viewing experience. That said, the high price makes it a hard pill to swallow. This thing is incredible, but you’re paying incredible money for that experience. Another minor gripe I have is the “Panel Protect” feature that is required, every 4 (or 16 hours if you set that) it demands you stop whatever you’re doing and let it basically turn off for about 3-4 minutes. MSI says this is to refresh the pixels and keep the panel healthy, but it’s still going to be annoying no matter what you do. As long as you can accept these conditions for a truly eye-popping monitor, then this is the one for you.

I’ve never seen one that simply LOOKS better in color, black levels, etc. And the quality of the individual components making up the completed monitor, as you can plainly see as you assemble it, is first rate.
There is at least one known problem: until it’s first used, the stand column sticks on many units. Grab the stand column with one hand, press down gently on the tippy top of the screen with the other, pray that nothing awful happens to that immaculate, oh so thin, beautiful screen as you push, and the stand should break loose and work perfectly thereafter. Frankly, the number of comments on this issue indicates that this is apparently so common that QC should loosen or lubricate the stand before shipment. But it’s a minor issue.
Now for the “but:”
There is a firmware update available for this display. Do NOT install it. AFAIK, I followed the instructions for the upgrade perfectly, it installed normally, and then the machine was totally bricked. (And yes, I’ve done a lot of these before and know the value of care and humility). If a reboot with the usual tinkering doesn’t solve the problem— it didn’t for me—MSI will tell you there’s nothing more for you to do. It’s now sitting with MSI receiving warranty repair, and I can hope to get it back in about five weeks, per the RMA info. (I couldn’t return to Amazon because it was out of the unit and there was no indication it would be in stock again. Oh, well.) Hopefully, it will find a fast lane somewhere in warranty central.
When I get it back, I’ll try to update this review both on the quality of the repair service, and on how it behaves in extended operation. Unless this repair turns into a horror story, which I doubt, yes, I would buy the monitor again.
