Customer Reviews Summary

The Ninja Double Stack™ XL Countertop Oven & Air Fryer with Pro Cook System has garnered significant attention for its dual functionality, versatile cooking options, and ease of use. This appliance is designed to replace multiple kitchen gadgets, making it a favorite among users seeking convenience and efficiency. Customers highlight its ability to simultaneously cook in two zones with separate temperature controls, allowing for a seamless multitasking experience. The top compartment is ideal for baking smaller items like cookies or rolls, while the bottom section excels at air frying, roasting, and more. Many users appreciate the smart finish feature, which synchronizes cooking times to ensure dishes are ready simultaneously. Additionally, the inclusion of a built-in thermometer simplifies cooking meat to perfection and makes achieving precise results much easier.

However, some reviewers pointed out challenges with its size and design. The unit is quite large, taking up considerable counter space, which may not be ideal for smaller kitchens. The exterior can become hot during operation, necessitating caution to avoid burns or accidental contact. A few users also mentioned issues with the air fryer’s noise level, noting that it could be disruptive in quieter households. Others expressed a desire for additional accessories, such as roasting pans or extra crumb trays, which must be purchased separately. Despite these concerns, the appliance has become a game-changer for many kitchens, praised for its high performance, versatility, and ability to streamline cooking tasks while delivering excellent results.

Users also appreciate its durability and high-quality construction, with many stating that it feels like a long-term investment rather than a temporary gadget. The combination of air frying, baking, roasting, and dehydrating options in one unit reduces the need for multiple appliances, saving both money and kitchen space over time. Its modern design and intuitive controls have also won over customers who value aesthetics and user-friendly features in their kitchen tools.

PROS

  • Dual Cooking Zones: The ability to cook two different dishes at varying temperatures is a standout feature. “I love that I can bake cookies on top while air frying chicken nuggets in the bottom,” shared one user, praising the convenience of multitasking. This setup ensures that different meals can be prepared simultaneously without compromising on quality.
  • Versatile Cooking Functions: With 12 preset functions, including air fry, bake, roast, and dehydrate, this appliance covers a wide range of culinary needs. Users highlight its performance in cooking frozen foods, achieving crispy textures without additional oil. “Frozen fries come out perfectly crispy every time,” remarked a satisfied customer.
  • Even Heating: Customers often praise the even heat distribution, which minimizes the need for repositioning food during cooking. One user noted, “Everything I’ve cooked comes out perfectly, from roasted potatoes to pizza. The heat is consistent throughout the process.”
  • Built-in Smart Thermometer: The inclusion of a thermometer ensures accurate cooking of meats, which is especially appreciated by novice cooks. “The thermometer takes the guesswork out of cooking,” mentioned a satisfied customer. Advanced cooks also benefit from this feature, using it to achieve specific levels of doneness.
  • Easy to Clean: The crumb tray and removable racks make cleanup simple. Several users appreciated the stainless steel finish for its durability and ease of maintenance. “A quick wipe is all it takes to keep it looking new,” noted one reviewer.

CONS

  • Large Footprint: This appliance requires significant counter space, which can be a challenge for smaller kitchens. “It’s the size of a microwave,” one user noted, emphasizing the need to measure your available space before purchasing. Some users suggested dedicating a separate space to avoid constant relocation.
  • Exterior Heat: The outer surfaces can get very hot during operation, posing a safety risk. “I accidentally touched the handle and it was scorching,” warned a reviewer. This necessitates extra caution, particularly in homes with children or pets.
  • Noisy Operation: The air fryer function, while efficient, can be quite loud. “It sounds like a small tractor,” quipped one user, although others found the noise level manageable. Some recommended placing it in a less frequented area of the kitchen.
  • Limited Accessories: Some users felt the included accessories were insufficient. “I had to purchase a separate roasting pan,” mentioned a customer, highlighting a potential extra cost. Others suggested including additional racks or non-stick baskets for greater convenience.
  • Learning Curve: The variety of functions can be overwhelming initially. “It took me a week to figure out all the settings,” shared one reviewer, though many agreed that the manual is helpful. With time, most users found the controls intuitive and easy to use.

Double Oven For Countertop With Multiple Features

Needing a bigger toaster oven, I ordered this unit. The oven arrived in its signature box. The stainless steel double stack xl countertop oven and air fryer weights about 31 pounds with dimensions a little over 18″D x 16″W x 13″H. The oven accessories included are two sheet pans, two wire racks, ONE crumb tray, air fryer basket, and meat probe. A detailed owner’s guide and instructions, along with recipes. This oven can bake, broil, reheat, keep warm, toast, bagel air fry, convection bake, pizza, air roast, whole roast, and dehydrate.
After washing and drying all accessories, I used the instructions to bake and air fry at 450 degrees both top and bottom with all accessories inside for 25 minutes to remove odor and packaging residue. While this was taking place, I went to YouTube as instructed and watch a few videos to make sure I was operating correctly. The guides included are adequate but I like visual as well.
It’ll take practice to get accustomed to all the operations, but so far is fairly easy to follow. The posted picture of the toast was a level 5.
There are some downsides for me in the use of this oven. The main problem is my cabinet position which is only a couple inches from the top of the unit. This wouldn’t be a problem necessarily if the top oven was not vented so much. I can actually look down into the unit from the gap at the top where the oven shuts. To me, this is like cooking with the oven propped open. There was way too much heat and smoke coming out from this area to be safely used under my cabinet. So, I’ll have to position differently to use.
Many aspects I really like are the easily manipulated and lighted selections, easy read outs, and a big plus is the automatic shut off. A very cool feature is that two meals can be synced in both ovens. There is a light inside for viewing.
Others aspects that I don’t like are a personal preference. I would prefer that the bottom part of the oven could be opened without opening the top as well (the top does open on its own). When opening the box, there is immediate advertisement to purchase a nonstick air fryer basket; why not have this type included instead of the cheap one provided. Why not give two crumb trays instead of one since two is ideal in dual use. This unit is only about 1/2″ wider from my older unit which was disappointing since I wanted to use some of my larger pans. Another negative is that all the included accessories should be hand washed. Also, not advised to use my two favorite cooking mediums of olive oil and butter due to smoking.
This is my first Ninja appliance, so time will tell if I can get past my dislikes.

Mastering Meals with the Ninja Double Stack XL!!!

I’ve been using the Ninja Double Stack XL Countertop Oven & Air Fryer for a few days now, and so far I am impressed by what I have seen so far. The dual-level cooking system is truly amazing and a time saver, allowing me to prepare multiple dishes at once without having to juggle between different appliances. For instance, I can air fry chicken wings on one level while baking potatoes on the other, saving both time and effort.

The Pro Cook System is incredibly reliable, taking the guesswork out of cooking and ensuring perfectly cooked meals every time. Whether I’m air frying, baking, roasting, or grilling, the results are consistently exceptional. The food comes out crispy, juicy, and full of flavor.

One of my favorite features is its user-friendliness. The controls are intuitive and easy to use, even for those with little cooking experience. The dual oven also comes with a magnetically attachable temperature probe, so its always there. The flexdoor feature creates two independent ovens, so you can access just the top oven for quick snacks and meals, or open the full door to use both ovens. Additionally, its sleek design and modern aesthetic make it a stylish addition to any kitchen.

If you’re in the market for a powerful, multifunctional appliance that can handle a variety of cooking tasks, I highly recommend the Ninja Double Stack XL. It’s a fantastic investment for anyone looking to make meal prep easier, faster and more enjoyable.

Toasting is hard, but I love it!

It’s complicated, but once you learn it, it makes sense!

Maybe it was just me, but this unit felt like there were a ton of rules you had to know before using it. It made the entire experience feel convoluted at first, but I think I was making mountains out of mole hills. Because once I got it all figured out, it is actually quite intuitive. One example: nothing is dishwasher safe minus the wire rack, everything else has to be hand washed. So the rule in our family is NOTHING goes in the dishwasher in regards to this Ninja. The top oven can only be used for some things, and the sheet pan can rest on top of the wire rack, but on the bottom oven has two slots, some things go into one slot while others do not. The combination of the two can be tricky as well. But the rule of thumb is the top is a toaster, the bottom is an airfryer. This little distinction made it far more simple. The other thing is you can’t use low smoke point oils, such as olive oil or butter. So most if not all of your meals needs veggie oil, canola, etc. Also when using both ovens at the same time, you have to estimate additional time, Ninja recommends a couple minutes or so additional cook time. So if your recipe requires 20 mins to cook, try 22 instead.

The other complication was I bought a whole chicken, but it ended up being too big for the unit. Turns out the unit can only accept 5 pound chickens or lower with another page in the manual recommending 4 to 4.5 pounds. Needless to say, I had to use my conventional oven for the chicken instead of the Ninja. But that didn’t stop me, I also bought a salmon and that cooked gloriously! More on that later.

Once I got it figured out, the buttons on the front are pretty self explanatory. There is a “Top” and “Bottom” button, which just lets you the user know what is happening on the display for that particular space. Or turns on the unit enabling that particular spot. The “Smart Finish” button is a little tricky, but it has a couple features in that one button.

You can use the built in meat thermometer to have it stop cooking when it reaches the desired temp! Remember when I mentioned my super delicious salmon? Well I used the leave-in auto detect feature and it stopped cooking as soon as the temp got perfect! So good! I loved it. At the same time, I had potatoes and veggies roasting on the top! The family loved it and it was super easy to do. The other thing I noticed is the veggies didn’t taste like fish, so I think Ninja did a good job with aroma control.

The biggest thing I don’t like about this unit is the toaster! The settings variations on toast is not real, I had it set to 3 and 2 pieces of bread and my toast was essentially burnt! I turned it to 1 and 1, and both my pieces were fine.

But if you want a lightly toasted piece of bread, it’s impossible to do without watching the bread. For example my toddler likes very lightly warmed poptarts, and I can’t do that with this unit using the toast setting. I can however work around the issue using the “Keep Warm” setting.

So far I’ve made chicken tenders, chicken breast, salmon, veggies, nachos, fries, poptarts, toast, bagels, and mozzarella sticks. I plan on making so much more with this thing, including another attempt at a whole chicken.

All in all, I love this and I’m so happy to have it added into our kitchen!

Handle is bulky, make sure you preheat before use

This took a bit to get the hand of using. There are a lot of buttons and options it learn. The included manual is helpful and has all of the information you need, you just have to actually read it.

I like that you can open the top oven while the bottom remains cooking allowing you to leave bottom oven items undisturbed. Unfortunately you cannot open the bottom while the top remains closed.
It seems like it takes a bit longer then it should for some items to cook.
Although,we cooked a package of cinnamon rolls in 8 minutes, which is great for last minute snacks or breakfast. Haven’t got around to using the temp probe, that’s next on our list.

A mixed experience with this countertop oven & air fryer

I wanted to love this air fryer toaster oven, but two major issues have significantly impacted my experience. Here’s an honest breakdown of the concerns:

1. Noise Level: Convection Fan Issues

When using the whole roast function, the noise level was shockingly high. The convection fan sounds like a tractor, making it impossible to ignore in my apartment. What’s worse, the housing and door resonate with the fan, creating an annoying rumble. I found that touching or holding the unit temporarily reduced the low-frequency noise, but the high-pitched sound persisted. I’m unsure if this is a defect in my unit or a design flaw, but it’s incredibly frustrating.

2. Surface Gets Dangerously Hot

The exterior surface becomes alarmingly hot during operation:

The upper door frame (just below the handle) measured 125°C (257°F).
The front edge of the housing reached 90°C (194°F).
These areas are easy to touch accidentally, posing a serious burn risk. For a countertop appliance, this level of heat on accessible surfaces is unacceptable and potentially dangerous.

3. Clearance and Stability Concerns

The clearance between the unit and my kitchen cabinet was only 5 inches, which feels far too close and raises concerns about a potential fire hazard.
Additionally, when opening the door, the oven slipped on my quartz countertop—and my countertop wasn’t greasy or wet. If there’s hot food inside, this could be a major safety risk.

While the oven offers a lot of cooking features, these safety and usability concerns make it hard to recommend without reservations. I hope the manufacturer addresses these issues, as they seriously affect both the convenience and safety of the product.

If noise and heat aren’t deal-breakers for you, this oven might still be worth considering for its functionality. For me, however, these drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

Counter top oven

Nice counter top oven with multiple features. The dual zones work well and both ovens cook thoroughly. The oven is stainless steel and well made. However, minor issue I wish it had two separately operable doors, and the air fryer portion is dual fans show you still might want to shake items. Also, size its great for a single person as an oven replacement, less great if you already have an oven or if you want something smaller. This will dominate a small kitchen so choose carefully.

Disappointed

The machine has a beautiful asthetic look, however, this will not fit standard sized 13 by 9 baking sheets. So, you pretty much can only use the baking sheets supplied in the box. They are cheaply made and probably made with PFOAs and/or PTFEs.

Great Air Fryer and Oven

We use this every day. It’s easy to use. The instructions are clear and the controls are simple and convenient. We’ve been using this more often than our large stove. Anything you Need to toast or bake or broil can be prepared in the Ninja Doublestack oven and air fryer. Plus you can use both ovens at the same time. We’re very happy with it.

Nearly Flawless and Pricey Countertop Oven

Overall:

The Ninja Double Stack XL Countertop Oven & Air Fryer with Pro Cook System does a lot of different things well for a countertop oven. The device is easy to use, has 2 separate ovens that can be used independently of one another, and is versatile enough to use as a toaster or a full-fledged oven. Cleaning it isn’t the easiest, since only one crumb tray is included for the top portion of the oven. That’s just a small pet peeve in an otherwise list of great things this oven provides, though.

I toasted a variety of breads and bagels, all coming out crisp at the level 3 setting. I cooked a frozen pizza in the bottom oven and that also came out great. These are pretty basic items, so I went ahead and tried air frying some wings in the bottom oven with great success as well. Frozen chicken was no biggie either on “air fry”. You name it and I cooked it in this thing. Vegetables, tater tots, hot pockets, french fries, steak kabobs, etc. Everything turned out great, no matter what I tried cooking.

I also tried the meat thermometer and set my desired temp. Once you plug it in, you just stick it in your meat and let the oven do its thing. Once the temperature you choose is reached, the oven shuts itself off. Pretty easy and convenient, as I don’t have to worry about checking my meat by pulling it out of the oven 12 times while it’s trying to cook.

The Ninja Double Stack XL is a cool kitchen gadget, but it takes up a lot of counter space and costs a pretty penny. If you’ve got the room and the cash to spare, go for it!

Here’s a quick pros and cons list to help you decide if this oven is for you.

Pros:
Large capacity: Can cook two foods at once, making it great for families or entertaining
Versatile: Can cook a variety of foods, from pizza and wings to roasted vegetables and baked goods
Easy to operate: Intuitive controls and preset cooking programs make it easy to get started and cook common foods
Cooks food quickly and evenly: Powerful heating elements and air fryer technology ensure that food cooks quickly and evenly. Even my bagels came out looking great
Sleek design: The stainless steel is a classic design that will fit in with any kitchen decor
Built in detachable thermostat: You can cook meat to a certain temperature or doneness with the included thermostat. The oven will just shut off automatically once the criteria you select has been met
Cons:
Expensive: This is a luxury product, priced as such
Can be difficult to clean: A crumb tray for the bottom oven would have been nice
