Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Versatility and Performance: The 10-in-1 functionality allows users to air fry, bake, roast, and dehydrate with consistent results, often making traditional ovens obsolete. It features a large interior capacity that can accommodate whole chickens, 13-inch pizzas, or multiple trays of food simultaneously.
  • Rapid Preheat and Cooking Speed: The unit features an incredibly fast preheat time of approximately 90 seconds, which is significantly faster than standard full-sized ovens. This efficiency allows users to start cooking almost immediately and reduces overall meal preparation time.
  • Integrated Smart Thermometer: The Pro Cook System includes a built-in thermometer probe that monitors internal food temperature and automatically shuts off the unit when the target doneness is reached. This feature eliminates guesswork and ensures meats are cooked perfectly and remain juicy.

Cons

  • High Noise and Vibration Levels: A frequent complaint is the excessive noise generated by the convection fan, which some users compare to a jet engine or an airplane. Additionally, several reviewers reported distracting metallic rattling or vibrations during operation.
  • Large Countertop Footprint: The unit is quite bulky and deep, requiring substantial counter space and clearance from walls due to its rear-venting design. Its size may be problematic for smaller kitchens or standard-depth countertops.
  • Challenging to Clean: Maintaining the interior is difficult because grease and food splatters can easily reach the exposed heating elements and the back fan. Users noted that baked-on residue is hard to remove and the crumb tray can be tricky to empty without spilling.

  1. Just another reason to not use your cooker

    EnglishD October 22, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

I love ninja products, we already have the dual basket air fryer, the pressure cooker and the indoor grill and this just complements the kitchen.

In the box you get obviously the main unit, 2 racks, 2 sheet pans, a roasting pan, an air frying rack and magnetic thermometer. You also get the instructions on how to use and warranty paperwork

The build quality on this is excellent, the stainless build just looks good in the kitchen. Ninja put the controls all along the top of the unit which is a great idea as this way you get the full width of the oven to use instead of side mounted controls which make you lose a few inches of oven which doesn’t seem much but it’s the difference between a medium roast chicken and a large one.

Like all ninja products this is extremely easy to use and every time you cook something it will come out perfect.

I can honestly say this could be the final piece of the puzzle when it comes to not needing a cooker. We hardly used our cooker before this and now we don’t use it at all.

Ninja has taken over our kitchen and this is a fantastic edition to any homeRead More

  2. The Best Air Fryer & Countertop Oven!

This Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven with Pro Cook System has a prestige design and elegantly fits on my kitchen counter top that adds to the overall decor and doesn’t look out of place.

Well, the overall performance is great and comes with built-in up to 10 times more convection power than the standard ovens. This is clearly noticeable in the items that we have prepared using this.

This has many features but the best one is the smart surround convection that completely surrounds the food to get an all round crisp item and more importantly without needing to rotate or flip the items in it which for me is great as it removes the risk of burning the hands while doing so. The Smart Surround Convection™ makes sure the food gets crispy all around by cooking it evenly.

With its impressive size, it has two levels available for cooking and each level evenly cooks the meal without needing any movement.

And to add to this feature, this has only 90-second quick preheat time which makes this ready to be used almost immediately and reduce the cooking time significantly.

With AI being integrated to each aspect of our live, this also has Pro Cook System that monitors the internal doneness of the food so now I never undercook or overcook my food.

Whenever I am not sure on the timing then it’s built-in 10 cooking programs help me to pick an option for e.g. Air Fry, Whole Roast, Air Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Pizza, Broil, Toast, Bagel, or Reheat.

For me, it’s perfect for all of my kitchen needs and I made cheese sticks in the fryer and they came out very good, everyone in my family loved it . Overall a great all-in-one oven for my kitchen countertop and I am really looking forward to try other recipes using this.Read More

  3. Does It All Countertop Oven

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer and Countertop Oven is an impressive appliance for any size kitchen. It has so many functions and features that we have greatly reduced our reliance on our full-size oven. The large capacity, the four multiple rack levels, and the ten different cooking functions provide so much flexibility that I can’t think of anything that we would not be able to cook for our household.

In the short time we have used this oven, we have used it for pizza, toast, bagels, meatloaf, appetizers, and reheating leftovers. The included Prestige Smart Thermometer provides internal temperature monitoring for meats to prevent undercooking. I’m looking forward to making some jerky with the dehydrate function.

The clear function display and the buttons make this oven very easy to use, which is rare for an appliance with many different cooking features. While the included manual clearly explains how to use the oven, I didn’t need to reference it.

We use this oven in our house kitchen, but this would be the perfect appliance to add to a motorhome or a small kitchen. We are very happy with the Ninja Prestige Countertop Oven and highly recommend it. Once again, Ninja is proving to be a significant name for quality kitchen appliances and cooking utensils.

  4. More Than Just an Air Fryer

    Static October 20, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

Not my first air fryer, but definitely my first product from Ninja in a very long time. The Ninja – Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is like having a Master Chef’s entire kitchen worth of cooking appliances in one sturdy stainless-steel package. I’m a firm believer in reading the instruction manuals before operating newly purchased appliances, but Ninja made this one so intuitive that I may of skimmed through some of those pages a little faster than usual. Simply plug it in, select the cooking mode, select time and temperature and then you’re off to the races. Press start and wait for your items to be prepared to absolute perfection. Previous air fryers have done the job, but I feel that the Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer just does it better. The pre-heat cycle doesn’t take long at all. I’ve noticed that food I’ve prepared with this unit reaches the desired temperature faster and by extension cooking time has decreased on items I have made in the past with previous units. Food looks to be cooked more evenly without the need to regularly rotate items to ensure a full cook on all sides. The included thermometer is a nice touch and though I have not used it as of yet, I can’t wait to make use of it on Whole Roast mode when I get around to putting a whole chicken in this unit. Aside from that mode, there are 9 others: Air Fry, Air Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Pizza, Broil, Toast, Bagel, and Reheat. Like I said before, an entire kitchen’s worth of appliances. Sell the oven, the toaster, the microwave, and make room for one of the best multi-functional kitchen appliances on the market. Make sure you have the room to store this beast. When they have “XL” in the title, they mean it. The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer does take up a fair bit of counterspace. That said, you can literally cook and entire dinner in this thing with its 2-level even cooking functionality or cook something larger like a whole chicken or even a turkey. I can’t seem to say enough great things about this appliance. If I had to note one negative thing, I would say that the fan is a bit loud during operation, but not loud enough to make me want to miss out on all of the services that the Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer has to offer. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed by the craftsmanship and the functionality of the Ninja – Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook. It would be a welcomed addition to anyone’s kitchen.Read More

  5. Can fit a WHOLE PIZZA!

    MsLittlejohn October 18, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

This airfryer oven is AMAZING! Right out of the box I was super impressed with the look and feel, super high quality. I have another brand of a convection airfryer oven that I’ve loved using for the last three years, but I find the temperature of the pre-set options to be too high. I can never just set it from one of those buttons and be confident that it will cook properly. With this one, though, the pre-set temps are right on point! I’ve used it three times since I’ve had it a little bit over a week, cooked a pork roast, a small chicken and a WHOLE PIZZA! In my old one, I had to cut the pizza in half and cook it in two separate racks. The chicken I cooked a little bit longer than recommended, but I probably didn’t have to, I just wanted to make sure it was completely done all the way through. Roast came out perfect. Now, the only reason I’m giving it four stars is because the unit itself it’s pretty large / deep and heavy, so it takes up a lot of counter space in my small kitchen. I have to store it in the cupboard in between uses, so that will probably mean I don’t use it as much since it is so heavy, but I really do love it. The digital display is a nice upgrade, and it’s not very loud. Not any louder than my old one. I recommend it, but you need a large counter top or kitchen cart of some kind.

  7. Bang for your buck efficiency

I’ve been on the air-fryer craze since it fist became a thing, so much so, I’ve owned and used two air fryers at once to air fry main dishes and sides at the same time. With that said, the Ninja- Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook takes things to a whole different level happily replacing my air fryers and even making me look at my oven a little different.

If you’re looking at this device like an Air Fryer, you’re underselling it. Air frying is the basics of this, and as an air fryer, it succeeds…but with far more size than any other air fryer you could purchase. Off size alone, it make replaces my previous “2 air fryer set up.” With that said..it’s going to take up space, but trust, it’s worth it. I also feel it does a better job of heating from all angles then most air fryers I’m accustom to. As an oven though? This thing smokes my oven.

First of all, I hate preheating. With this? A minute and a half max. The Pro Cook system raises the stakes…or, steaks if you eat beef. Being able to drop a seasoned steak in their and push a button to get the proper cooking (which, definitely isn’t well done) is a game changer. Sure, you could set your regular oven to a certain temp and trust it within a certain amount of time…but, maybe it’s the “Temp detect intelligence,” I trust this system far more. My steaks were A1, no pun intended. The days of buying roasted chicken from the store are over.

As a person with a small family, this thing more than fits the bill…but as someone who’s a bit up in age and thinks about the things we used to cook with when I was in my late teens early 20s…for the young adults coming of age now? This thing could almost replace their whole kitchen! A toaster, an air fryer, an oven to cook large portions of protein or sides, a microwave, a cookie maker? You’re not getting this much service out of any one device…not with quality at least. You could try to put all this stuff in a microwave…you’d get horrible results that will probably make you sick.

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is a game changer in the kitchen that is worth the space it takes up. Remove some of those other devices…you don’t need them anymore.Read More

  8. A Worthy Accessory!

    IBEWSuper October 16, 2024

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer and Countertop Oven finally arrived & whoa is it a large heavy box,I was barely able to get it inside by myself. Once I was able to unbox this beast and get it in to the kitchen I was honestly a bit worried because this monster takes up a lot of real estate on counter. Thank gawd once I got it set it was able to slide under the cabinets and also not hang off the front edge of the countertop. While on this subject let me say that this thing does get hot, hot enough that you will not hold your finger on it more than one time unless your an idiot, trust me, soo make sure it has ample space on all sides to dissipate the heat. As far as the girth goes if you do not trust me then I have a few pics below with a ruler so you can get a feel for whether you have the space required.

While unboxing it seemed like I kept unwrapping things but this was good because Ninja provides you with all of the accessories that you will need to take full advantage of all of the cooking methods available. Once you have everything unwrapped and slid inside onto the shelves you are instructed to do a 20 min cook to sorta “sterilize” all of the pans and racks that were provided at I think 425* which was how I discovered how hot the outside of the unit will get soo be careful. The oven comes with two wire racks, air frying basket, two baking sheets, and a 2 piece roasting tray.

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer and Countertop Oven has a total of 10 possible functions that include baking, roasting, toasting, dehydrating, as well as air frying. I have used the oven several times in the past week but I have not been able to experiment with all of the possible functions. I have been able to use the roasting, air fryer & baking functions and all performed well. When selecting a function the oven will give you a preset to start off with however you can make adjustments as needed depending on your needs. I have done the basics like making toast & morning bagels & everything came out fine. Over the weekend I used the unit to air fry some snacks while watching a few games including some small wings and cheese sticks, the wings I had to cook longer than what the preset was because they were not to that crispy point like I wanted them to be, the cheese sticks came out great and were basically perfect. One evening I decided to roast a few lobster tails and in less than 5-6 mins they were perfectly done & exactly how I like them without drying the tails out.

Soo far I have been pleased with everything I can do with the oven and have enjoyed having it as a new tool in the kitchen however I have had to relegate other kitchen accessories back inside the cabinets to make room for the oven which I’m not the happiest about but whadaya gonna do.Read More

  9. BIG interior space FAST preheat Convection Speed !

    James K October 16, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

Unboxing – This is a solidly built and somewhat heavy counter top convection / toaster
oven. The box contains the oven, an accessories box, another accessories wrapping and
product literature. This unit weighs over 35 pounds packed which is notable if you plan
to use in an RV or camper. All the individual accessories that are found in the oven or
the accessories box are wrapped to avoid any damage. It did feel a bit peeling an onion
to reach the point of plugging it in and testing it out.

    Cooking Space !
It’s larger inside than any toaster convection oven I have personally used to date. We
have an older unit that is supposed to do six slices of bread on a single rack – but does
not unless your bread is very small. THIS toaster oven fits a full six slices of Texas
Toast ! It also fits a standard frozen pizza without bumping up against the door or back wall.

Cooking modes I have used so far – ( I really want to try dehydrate ~ )
It has ten ! – I have used the following with great success:
Air Fry – Used for sweet potato fries and regular fries with air basket – Great !
Air Roast – Used with seasoned chicken with baking pan for catch-tray
Bake – Used for pizza – pizza mode works better !
Pizza – It makes the bottom crust of a frozen pizza less soggy !
Broil – Used to crisp frozen pizza, Melt / reheat various leftovers
Toast – To make toast of course ! We have toasted English muffins, bread and muffins.

    Overall –
Why even own a toaster ? With one of these you can toast and whip up side dishes to compliment
larger meals, bake a dessert or just bake, broil and/or air fry whatever you want without
having to fire up the regular oven !

    What I love –
90 Second preheat – Unit can cook to completion faster than my oven can preheat.
    Big interior space !
Convection mode cooks very evenly versus traditional toaster ovens

    Room for improvement –
I would love to see this in an enameled non-stick interior.

Overall – Love it !Read More

  10. Ample cooking space

    Goncho October 16, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL is a powerful multi-mode oven that offers plenty of space to cook all sorts of meals. It features four rack levels, from which, depending on the meal, the device allows you to choose only one or two racks for either one- or two-level cooking. I haven’t tested, but I guess you could use the four racks at once to cook. I’ve tried both levels of cooking, and so far, I’ve had better experiences with one-level cooking when compared to two-level cooking. For one level cooking, toasts and bagels have come out toasted/cooked to perfection, no complaints. We’ve also used one level cooking for reheating with no issues. Unfortunately, I haven’t had great results when using the two-level cooking; for instance when cooking chicken wings and fried potatoes, the fries placed on the top tray came out very dry with some not fully cooked, and the chicken wings placed at the bottom tray came out well cooked, but not as crispy as we would have liked it. It looks like I still need to do more experimentation with temperatures and cooking times and also on how much of the elements I put in the trays and baskets, to get the perfect meal.
The device comes with a thermometer that can help you cook your different meats to perfection. You can also customize the settings to your preferences, and you can even cook complete meals in the Ninja Prestige SmartXL, something similar to what the Ninja Combi provides. I haven’t tried all the cooking modes and settings; however, so far, this makes a great countertop multi cooker/oven.
The only downside I’ve found is that when you decide to do a two-level cooking, you do need to set it manually on the device. If you forget, then you’ll be cooking at the one-level setting, until you realize your mistake by looking at the front control panel (if you are the kind of distracted individual, you won’t even notice your mistake.)
The “Tips, recipes and cooking charts” booklet that comes with the device gives you all you need to figure out what to do, how many trays to use, to cook your different meals (it even gives you some recipes to follow.)
    – Pros: spacious, four rack levels, one or two-level cooking, predefined cooking modes, configurable settings.
    – Cons: no two-level autodetect cooking.

    >> Air Fryer
We decided to give the Ninja Prestige SmartXL a chance to air-fry chicken wings and potatoes. So, following the suggestions (or directions) in the “tips” booklet, we went for a two-level cooking. I placed the potato slices on the top air fry basket, and the chicken wings on the bottom sheet pan (over a wire rack), then selected Air Fry cooking mode, leaving all the default settings as suggested, but making sure I pressed the two-level cooking setting on the front panel. After 20 minutes, we noticed that still there was some more cooking to do, so we increased the time and the temperature. Soon after, about 15 minutes, we got perfectly cooked chicken wings, but without any crispiness on them; they were well cooked but no “fried” signs could be seen on them, nevertheless the taste was great (my own secret recipe.) The story with the fries was very different, I am not sure if we cut them too thick or placed too many of them in the basket, but several came out not cooked, while others were a little burnt, and basically all of them were hard on the outside, like something dehydrated the outside of the potato pieces but left most of the inside moist. Definitely, I need to see what is going on here, so I need to do more experimentation, as I would have expected for a different result.
Note: now that I am re-reading the “tips” booklet that came with the device, I noticed that it mentions not to get the different chicken wing pieces to crowd each other, and I think I might have put too many chicken wings together for my first not-so-great air fried chicken wings.

    >> Toast
I assume that toasting bread is one of the most common things done in any household. This machine can toast your bread to perfection (of course as long as you’ve chosen the right settings for how dark/light you want your toast to be.) It has room to up to 9 regular sliced bread pieces, so multiple toasts at once for the whole family. According to the booklet, only one-level cooking is allowed for toasting, so you have to place the wire rack on level 3 with your bread slices on it and proceed to toast them. I wonder if I could have two-level cooking for toasting, use level 3 with the basket and level 2 with the sheet pan, and bread slices distributed among them (well, with 9 slices capacity, perhaps I don’t even need to try this.) One thing I noticed is that there is a lot of condensation after toasting, so a good idea is to open the oven once all is done.

    >> Dehydration
At home, we use dehydrators for different things, from mushrooms to veggies, so it came handy to have the Ninja Prestige SmartXL readily available for some of our dehydration needs. So far, the machine has done a decent job at dehydrating. Of course, I won’t be dehydrating mushrooms in this oven due to the spores, but I plan on using it on different foods, to preserve and to have snacks readily available.
For one of my rehydration attempts, I chose to dehydrate apples in a two-level cooking style, the wire basket at the top on level 4 and the sheet pan (on top of the wire rack) at the bottom on level 2. I placed the same amount of apple slices on both racks. I selected Dehydration from the cooking modes, and didn’t change the default settings for temperature and time. As expected (as I expected based on previous attempts), the results were not uniform, the top wired basket pieces dried almost perfectly while the bottom sheet pan ones still needed more time. So, I moved the bottom apple pieces to the top wire basket tray and the top apple pieces to the bottom tray, and then continued the dehydration for some more time. At the end, the results were fine, albeit some manual intervention to get the pieces to dehydrate uniformly. I might place aluminum foil over the sheet pan next time, because a couple of pieces of apple stuck strongly to the sheet pan surface and I had to rub them to get them off the pan.Read More
