Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Versatility and Performance: The 10-in-1 functionality allows users to air fry, bake, roast, and dehydrate with consistent results, often making traditional ovens obsolete. It features a large interior capacity that can accommodate whole chickens, 13-inch pizzas, or multiple trays of food simultaneously.
  • Rapid Preheat and Cooking Speed: The unit features an incredibly fast preheat time of approximately 90 seconds, which is significantly faster than standard full-sized ovens. This efficiency allows users to start cooking almost immediately and reduces overall meal preparation time.
  • Integrated Smart Thermometer: The Pro Cook System includes a built-in thermometer probe that monitors internal food temperature and automatically shuts off the unit when the target doneness is reached. This feature eliminates guesswork and ensures meats are cooked perfectly and remain juicy.

Cons

  • High Noise and Vibration Levels: A frequent complaint is the excessive noise generated by the convection fan, which some users compare to a jet engine or an airplane. Additionally, several reviewers reported distracting metallic rattling or vibrations during operation.
  • Large Countertop Footprint: The unit is quite bulky and deep, requiring substantial counter space and clearance from walls due to its rear-venting design. Its size may be problematic for smaller kitchens or standard-depth countertops.
  • Challenging to Clean: Maintaining the interior is difficult because grease and food splatters can easily reach the exposed heating elements and the back fan. Users noted that baked-on residue is hard to remove and the crumb tray can be tricky to empty without spilling.

  1. King of Air Fryers!

    DITGUY17 October 15, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

I recently added the Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook to my kitchen, and it blends perfectly with my other stainless steel appliances. The sleek, modern look of the stainless steel exterior is not only visually appealing but gives a professional feel to the kitchen setup. It’s a substantial appliance, yet it doesn’t take up too much counter space, and I love how it enhances the overall vibe of my kitchen.

This product comes with some fantastic accessories: the air fry basket, 2 sheet pans, 2 wire racks, a removable crumb tray, a roast tray, and even a pro cook thermometer that takes all the guesswork out of cooking meats. Plus, it includes handy recipe and cooking charts, which make it super easy to get started right away.

I’ve already put it to the test, cooking up a variety of meals. The pizzas came out crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the sweet potato fries had that perfect golden crunch, and the cookies? Absolutely delicious. The versatility of this thing is incredible. Whether it’s salmon, roasted vegetables, or anything in between, the Ninja delivers perfect results every time.

What I really appreciate is how easy it is to clean up. After cooking, the crumb tray and accessories are a breeze to remove and wipe down. It’s low maintenance for the high-quality meals it delivers.

I’m really looking forward to Thanksgiving, as this will be my secret weapon in the kitchen. I can’t wait to test out a turkey in it! The fact that you can use this for anything you’d normally bake in an oven—and more—is a game changer.

Overall, I highly recommend this air fryer and countertop oven for anyone looking to save time in the kitchen and cook meals in a healthier way without sacrificing taste. It’s a must-have!Read More

  2. The Adult Easy Bake Oven!

    Bakut3n October 15, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

The Ninja Prestige XL is an adult Easy Bake Oven. From whole meals to frozen pizza to desserts, it does it all. The oven comes with the oven itself, 2 stainless racks, 2 solid sheet pans, a roasting pan, air fryer rack, and a meat thermometer with magnetic holder. The included quick guide has some tasty recipes along with its user instructions.

Something to point out right away for people who don’t read the user manual: PUT THE ACCESSORIES IN THE OVEN AT 400* BEFORE YOU USE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME to bake off any manufacturing residue.

With that out of the way, the Ninja Prestige is easy to use with 10 different cook modes with one or two cooking rack functions plus a manual mode. The oven will preheat in about 90 seconds depending on the mode and will beep when ready to use. The oven will also suggest what level the rack should be placed on depending on what you are cooking. It is made of a heavy gauge stainless steel and feels very well built. The included accessories are very well made too, especially the air fry basket. Nothing is flimsy. I don’t feel like they cheapened out on the materials for the asking price.

My first dish was a whole chicken rubbed with a lemon finishing butter. I sat the oven to whole roast and selected chicken as my protein. With the thermometer plugged into the underside of the handle, I jabbed it into the chickens’ breast, running parallel along the bone. I put it in and hit the start button and the oven started preheating. 90 seconds later it beeped and off it went. Another note on the magnetic thermometer holder; I have left the holder in place while using the oven and it barely heats up. It feels like it’s a type of Delrin or other heat-resistant plastic, so I’m not worried about leaving it on the oven while in operation.

All other meats give you a “doneness” selection but with chicken it will only cook to well done. About an hour and a half later the oven beeped letting me know it had reached 165* internal temp and was ready to eat. My hand-held thermometer recorded about 173* after the chicken had sat out about 15 minutes which seems spot on since meat continues to cook after you remove it from the oven. It was nice and crispy golden all over except where the back was in contact with the roasting pan, with juicing tender meat all the way thru.

I have also air fried vegetables on the included tray. I have done asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and a few others. All but the asparagus turned out great. The cook time listed for the asparagus is for 2lbs. I only had a lb. on hand, and I believe I overcooked them and turned them more into jerky than air fried. The other vegetables were delicious.

For dessert were some fudge brownies with Butter Finger thrown in. I sat the oven to bake and followed the instructions on the box, setting the oven to 350* for 35 minutes. I put the brownie batter on rack 3 and hit start. 35 minutes later I stuck a toothpick into the middle, and it came out clean. The brownies were nice and crispy around the edges with a wonderful chewy center.

The following night we warmed up the chicken leftovers. I put them in on reheat for 20 minutes at 400*. It came out still juicy but a little dryer than I wanted but was still crispy and tasty. Next time I’ll reduce the cook time a little and see how it goes.

Last but not least I put a frozen pizza in. I don’t have a pizza sheet yet, but I wanted to see how it would do anyway. I put a sheet pan on a rack on the lowest position to catch any drippings as it cooked to keep the lower heating elements clean. I then put the pizza on the other rack on the 3rd rack position as recommended and cooked it at 375* for 15 minutes as recommended by the pizza box. Upon checking when the time was done the pizza was surprisingly well cooked! It was a little more done on the bottom than I’d like, most likely because I didn’t have an actual pizza rack. But it was still delicious and crunchy with the toppings being nicely cooked.

So far in my testing the only stand out gripes I have are that the buttons don’t illuminate, but instead have black writing or symbols on them. With as fine as the print is and being on a shiny stainless surface, the writing is hard to see at the best of times. Another gripe is echoed by many other reviewers. The wall plug is at a downward angle and pretty much prevents you from plugging it into anything but the bottom most receptacle if you want to have anything else plugged into the same outlet. Last issue for me is the oven does get very warm to the touch when in use. This isn’t a problem unless you have children that are tall enough to reach your counter or you have a cat that loves warm spaces. So be careful when using in such situations.

Unless I’m using an Instant Pot, I normally stay out of the kitchen and prefer a grill or smoker. However, after getting this wonderful adult Easy Bake Oven, I actually look forward to cooking in the oven!Read More

  3. The King of Countertop Cooking

    Manny October 15, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

This is the king of the jungle when it comes to countertop cooking devices. If your in the market for one of these you know that the Ninja name precedes itself with already being what you look at first and being a prior Ninja owner of all sorts, this one improves on absolutely everything possible!

Some stand out features you should know about are, this is LARGE inside and has two heating zones that you can fully control even without being a split compartment system and yes, it actually works really good. Ive cooked two different pizzas at once (one thick one thin and both came out perfect). Ive also done a trey of French fries up top and air fry basket of chicken tenders on the bottom for my kids and they both come out perfectly in less than half the time of my normal oven without any of that hassle or gas smell.

The controls are well laid out on the handle itself with clear markings and everything lights up without even looking like a screen when off. Setting the temp and time along with mode and everything is extremely easy and it even tells you what rack to cook on the screen itself for best results. If you dont know which one the included book goes over a ton of stuff to help you or they have a link to their YouTube which also goes over a lot of things.

It blends into your kitchen looks well, especially with the stainless steel. There is 10 cooking functions such as air fry, whole roast, air roast, bake, dehydrate, pizza, broil, toast, bagel and reheat. I have used over half of these already and can tell you they do what they’re meant to do perfectly and even better than in models past.

Some of my favorite is left over pizza or dinner dishes you just set it to reheat and it goes for 10 mins and comes out perfectly and adds a texture and flavor to whatever it is that literally makes your microwave obsolete (think crisp and or evenly cooked instead of soggy hotspot mess you get with microwave). It even has a light inside thats bright enough to see everything in darkness.

What differentiates this unit having the pro cook from the lesser models is the fact that it has a built-in thermometer to monitor internal doneness of your food so you’ll never under or overcook food again and keep it exactly how you want it. Personally I use this for chicken and steaks. Essentially you can set the temperature that you want the internal meat to achieve and it will cook exactly to that temperature and turn itself off which really makes things insanely easy.

Honestly as I said ive had ninja stuff for years now and I always come to love them. After you get through the learning curve of doing your favorite foods and how you like to cook them up this turns into the absolute staple of your kitchen quick. I use it everyday multiple times a day and it makes my oven feel like a dinosaur in comparison because you can just cook every item that needs heating so much better, even toast lol.Read More

  4. Tons of Features, Made Well, Pre-Heats Quickly

    TechTux October 15, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

I have been in the market for a good countertop oven and air fryer for some time and decided to try this combo that was offered by Ninja. I am so glad I went with this product! Right out of the box I could tell this was made well as it offered multiple trays to use when cooking. The door of the oven is strong , closes well and durable that I feel will last for some time. Setup / Install was very easy , just make sure you remove all the hidden tape and packaging inside the over. The instruction book is very detailed with a great “cheat sheet” towards the back. I recommend reviewing the book even for those who are familiar with countertop ovens as this product offers a ton of features. Speaking of features this thing can Air Fry, Air Roast, Broil, Bake, Norm Roast, Pizza, Toast, Bagel, Reheat and dehydrate. I got to experience the Air Fry, Broil, Bake, Pizza, Toast and Reheat however not the roast setting yet. Overall each of these features work great and I recommend to use the pre-programmed setting instead of modifying it to package settings. My brother tried to make frozen pizza , did not go with the programmed settings, went with the pizza package settings and slightly burned the pizza. The only issue I have found is that after the pre-heating it starts the timer immediately not allowing time to place the food in there. So I recommend standing near the oven during pre-heat so you dont miss the timer start. If the timer does start its not a big worry as it is very easy to reset the timer. The roast feature this has also comes with a “pro cook thermometer” its wired and can check temp throughout the cooking. The really cool feature is that it uses a “pro cook” feature that monitors the roast to get the perfect regulated temp. Unfortuantely I have not tried cooking a roast however looking forward to trying this feature out!

Overall this Ninja Air Fyer / Countertop Oven is amazing! It comes packed with features and made very well. I strongly recommend this product.Read More

  5. One appliance with so much functionality and use

    JKinSYR October 15, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

This Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer and Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is a great addition to my kitchen space and our family needs. The kitchen appliance that helps to consolidate so many different functions into a handy dandy countertop design.

Our household relies heavily on air fryer usage for multiple meals throughout the day and this has been the main feature we continually use, and it’s performed quite well for french fries, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, and tater tots for example. This allows for so many various uses and functions such as dehydration, air frying, roasting, broiling, baking, toasting, and reheating. We have eliminated our previous appliances such as an air fryer, toaster oven, and dehydrator, in favor of using this one Ninja Prestige Countertop Oven. Less appliances and less clutter is a good thing for our household and smaller kitchen size.

This appliance simply plugs into a wall outlet with 120V output and operates at 1800 watts. It’s a semi bulky appliance and requires a sturdy counter or kitchen island since it weighs in at about 33.75 pounds. I really like the stainless steel look and the integrated buttons/display which are built into the handle. The convection oven is what makes this such a good appliance for an even cook throughout. The Smart Surround Convection helps to distribute that desired temperature to give your food item the proper all around cook or crisp, which helps to avoid hot spots or uneven cooking. We’ve been making morning breakfast foods such as toast, bagels, english muffins and they’ve all been turning out just right for our desired look and taste. There are a total of 10-in-1 functionality for different cooking programs as mentioned earlier. Just the other day we made a small 9×9 pan of brownies which baked to perfection within this Ninja Oven. We still utilize our home oven/range for larger cooking, but the Ninja Oven makes it a great addition for when we have big meals for parties. Recently we were baking large pizzas in the home oven, while also making a lamb roast in our Ninja Oven and utilizing the Pro Cook system. This allowed us to choose our desired level of doneness and the thermometer allows for continuous temperature monitoring of the food. I feel the high powered convection in this Ninja Oven allows for faster cooking time and more evenly cooked meats. You can cook on 2 levels in this Ninja Oven and keep the food from intermingling with one another. No extra rotation of food or shaking of a basket is needed, due to the air flow of the convection oven.

Ninja did a great job with providing multiple accessories such as a pro cook thermometer which connects into your food and the handle of the Ninja Oven. There is an air fry basket, roast tray, 2 sheet pans, 2 wire racks. Everything you need to get this up and running and use right out of the box.

I think it’s been a very short learning curve for both myself and my wife. The Ninja Oven has a nice upscale design and has a bold look while it sits on the countertop. Overall it offers a lot of functionality and use for various food creations. I’m able to eat healthier by roasting and air frying my foods without using excess oils and damaging my wellness. This is one of the best Ninja appliances I’ve come across since it’s helped me to cook better and shorten my cooking time. Will be continually experimenting with new foods in the future such as making my own roasted whole chicken and items such as baking a pie in this Ninja Oven.Read More

  6. Ninja Oven Great All-Around

    BADog October 14, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

Ninja has released a new Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook, and it doesn’t disappoint. The box includes the oven, 2 stainless steel racks, 2 solid sheet pans, 1 roasting pan, 1 air fryer rack, meat thermometer with magnetic holder, and quick user guide/paperwork. The oven comes with a manufacturer’s 1-year warranty.

    PROS:
    ———–
    * This oven preheats in only 1.5 minutes, sometimes slightly less. Very quick to get up and running!
    * The function/light indicators are very easy to read, and easy to operate in selecting the mode you want. I have posted close-up photos of each section for a better view.
    * I have cooked a variety of items, and every single time, they are cooked thoroughly.
    * You can cook on multiple levels at a time. Just follow the recommendations in the user manual on which levels to use when using multilevel or it’s also shown on the handle of the oven itself (see pictured differences in single vs double-rack usage)
    * The stainless look is most excellent, especially if you have other stainless appliances.
    * The build is heavy-duty. It’s solidly built and does not rattle or wobble when in use or while moving.
    * The door has nice rubber gaskets around the inside of the glass which keeps it from hitting metal on metal and keeps the heat in.
    * The push buttons are very responsive and easy to operate. They are also made of metal and do not feel cheaply made. This oven is made with quality materials, and you can feel it.
    * For storage, you can put your probe thermometer on the magnetic holder and stick it on the side of the oven (see picture). Make absolutely sure that you remove it while cooking as the plastic on that holder will melt due to the heat generated while in operation.
    * There are no annoying sirens or long tones when the oven is turned ON/OFF. There is a quick “bleep”, but it’s not annoying. It’s the same bleep that occurs on my Ninja air fryer. It’s quite soothing compared to how some of the other ovens audibly operate like I have used in the past.
    * The black pans themselves are heavy duty and not flimsy. When they get hot, they don’t warp while being heated like some you might see with some thinner pans.
    * The light provides ample brightness to see how the food is progressing while cooking. The light can be turned ON/OFF with the “LIGHT” button. The light also automatically comes on when you open the oven and also when there is 1 minute left on your cooking time. The light fades in/out when turning ON/OFF. That’s a nice touch.
    * The “Pizza” setting works great. I don’t know how it differs exactly from the “Bake” setting, but a frozen pizza I prepared was cooked perfectly inside and out in “Pizza” mode. In addition, cooking 2 pizzas at once did not pose a problem. They did not burn and still cooked very evenly on racks 1 and 3.
    * This oven has a manual/preset “Smart Cook System” which I was unable to utilize (yet), but it looks very intuitive and easy to use based on the instructions. The probe plugs in on the underside of the handle where the controls are located.
    * The rear of the oven does have a couple of spacer bumpers on the back to keep the hot metal from touching the wall behind it while in operation.
    * The crumb/spill tray is easily removable and does offer a lowered section in the center which should help keep any spilled liquids from draining off when removing the tray.
    * Because the controls are on the handle itself, Ninja is able to utilize the entire width of the unit for cooking. Some ovens have the controls on the left/right side or upper area which limits cooking space. This was a very good idea to maximize the cooking cubic feet (2.67 ft^3) for cooking bigger items if necessary.

    CONS:
    ———–
    * The rear plug power wire angles straight down, so it can only be used in the LOWER outlet plug if you are using another appliance in that plug. If it was angled a bit to the left or right, then it could be used in the top plug. This is a useful feature when you have 2 appliances with BOTH having down-facing flat plugs. This allows for only 1 item to be plugged in at a time unless some kind of adapter is used.
    * The fan is a little loud, but not horrible. I was hoping for a more quiet “regular bake” setting; however, it only bakes with the air circulation feature ON. I did use the bagel & toast settings, and found it was a bit quieter.

    OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
    ———–
    * Be sure to follow the instructions for “out-of-the-box” initialization. This requires you to put all the oven contents inside then heat for a certain time. Just follow the instructions. This removes some of the manufacturing residue that may be on the baking parts.
    * This oven does cook faster than most other little ovens due to most modes operating in convection mode. There is no regular “Bake” mode in which the air is not circulating.
    * Some pieces are dishwasher safe; however, it is recommended that most parts are washed by hand.

    CONCLUSION:
    =====================
I have been able to use a handful of features so far including 2-rack mode for pizza, and 1-rack mode for bake, toast, bagels, air fry, and broil. Some items include fries, tater tots, mac-n-cheese, pizza, hamburger buns, regular bread, pop tarts, fish, and frozen meals. Most items were done or slightly over-done given the recommended times of those items to cook. Keep in mind that for some functions, Ninja recommends taking off some time and temperature depending on what you’re cooking. Refer to the manual for specifics. All-in-all, this oven is very good and will keep us from having to turn on the “main” gas oven which typically takes 7-8 minutes to pre-heat. Items cooking in this Ninja taste just as good and provide quicker cook times. What a great addition to our kitchen. The pros outweigh the cons by far, and I would highly recommend.Read More

  7. A tad large but in charge

    mkcar1 October 14, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

I have worked my way through several pressure cookers as well as a few air fryer ovens. This unit, while not perfect, does work well and would be a nice complement to any kitchen, if you have the space.

    Pros

Easy to setup. Just plug in but do follow directions to do pre-cook burn off to get rid of any residue.

The oven is larger than all the ones I have tested (17.09 in L x 20.22 in W x 13.34 in H) but also has more interior space (2.67 cubic feet). Weighs in at 33.63 lbs.

Nice large glass window for viewing

Controls in the handle are nice and you can change temperature (5-degree increments) and time (1-minute increments) on the fly.

Easy to read LED temperature, time and selected cooking options imbedded in handle.

Oven door opens down, so you don’t drip on counter if checking or removing food.

Light is very bright making it easy to see food while cooking.

4 rack levels. You can do 2 rack cooking by selecting that option on controls. When selecting cooking option(s) unit indicate what rack number(s) of the 4 you should use

Has a thermometer option for precise temperature with preset temps for beef, chicken, etc. you can select. By using the manual button, you can set your own target temp.

The oven itself is nicely constructed with an easy to clean interior.

    Cons

Does require pre-heating but is quick at about 90 seconds.

Grounded Power-cord (36 inches) connection to oven is at bottom of plug so would block other outlets if not used on bottom.

Button controls in handle are hard to see as most buttons are small and reflect light making it difficult to see blackened function(s).

A tad noisy when running certain functions and runs for a long time in cool down mode after operation.

No pizza tray. Maybe they assume you would already have one? But only 1 of ours fit and only on rack 3 as that has a tad extra room due to fan indentation in back of oven.

Most supplied cooking pans require hand washing.

Outside gets warm so make sure it is an area with ventilation and keep “little” hands away. But to be fair all do

    Cooking

Cooked 2 Cornish hens using the temperature probe and suggested roast tray and rack position. You cannot select the temp for chicken so used preset 165 degrees. Hens were done nicely with crisp skin on top but not bottom. This has occurred in my other ovens as well. I normally cook the first half of the time with breast down then up for remainder. I also set directly on foil lined sheet pan. But wanted to test their suggestion.

Used the Pizza preset, and it came out nicely done on top but not too crispy on bottom. Same pan used in other ovens and did not have this issue.

Cooked frozen hash browns and they came out crispy on outside and soft on inside.

Soft boiled eggs came out nicely as well

    Cleanup

One of the eggs split and dripped egg onto crumb tray. I was dreading trying to scrape this off but to my surprise it just wiped off. The interior is also easy to wipe down and should be done after every use.

    Air Roast
    Air Fry
    Bake
    Dehydrate
    Broil

  8. Multi-Cooker, Small Footprint and Delicious Food

    RalphHenry October 13, 2024
    Review source: Bestbuy

This Ninja smart cooker is an air fryer, a convection oven and lots more; all in one. It is large enough to cook family sized meals or it can be used to cook for one. It has the unique ability to cook on two levels or just one level to achieve efficiency no matter how large a meal is planned.
This item is packed very well and indeed the unit was in perfect shape. However, you do need to pay attention to the packaging inside and around the oven to ensure all plastic and cardboard is removed.

Another innovation that is important to understand up front is that this device does surround cooking in a real sense not just by utilizing the convection fan. It has heating elements top and bottom but also has a ring of heat-source around the rear fan. The proof is in how well an actual meal is cooked so I did try some recipes to determine if food was delicious, would cook in a reasonable amount of time and also the cleaning perspective. All of these tests showed this was an outstanding product.

There are very nice accessories and be aware there are four slots for sliding in the various racks, pans and trays. You are also supplied a smart thermometer which can be used in the cooking if you wish. The thermometer allows you to see the temperature but also it will halt the cooking when the desired temperature is reached – another smart feature. By the way, the jack to attach the thermometer is located on the underside of the door handle.

You should try the different functions that run from air frying to dehydration. Once powered on, you can press the ‘Function’ button to run through the many cooking options. You get two wire racks, an air fry basket and a non-smoke and non-stick roasting pan. A nice item is also a crumb tray that goes on the bottom to ensure cleanup will be easy.

Just for some reference this unit (inside) is about 10 inches deep by 14 inches wide by 8 inches high. The outside dimensions are compact and the unit sits nicely on my countertop. It was fun to figure out the ‘multiple cooking process’, but this is a smart cooker so basically it will help you to do the correct thing. An example might be if you have a big chicken to roast you’d enter ‘Whole Roast’ and it will tell you to put it in the lowest (or tray-1) position. If you’d like to also air fry some vegetables, you would hit 2nd function. It will tell you that you’d have to put the next tray of food in level-4 (the top rack). I think that gives you some intro into the power of this unit to make a complete meal for you. Also if you are wondering, yes you can air fry two trays of food at the same time using two different racks. Tip of the cap to the designers of this device, they are very smart. You do get an excellent recipe book that is customized for this cooker, everything from toast to prime rib, to sweet potato casserole to even some Red Velvet cookies that I want to try soon.
The thermometer works accurately as well. Once you plug the thermometer into the device you can cook by temperature instead of time. You should ensure you put the thermometer in horizontally and into the thickest part of the meat. The directions are a little unclear in this area regarding how to put the thermometer into the cooker. However, you simply place the meat with the thermometer into the oven and close the door over the thin cable of the thermometer. It’s small enough to not disrupt the door seal.
Most important is how delicious the food was. The roasted chicken I made was mouth-watering great; I just used salt, pepper, garlic powder and EVOO fantastic. I cooked some sliced zucchini on the uppermost rack at the same time as my chicken. The lengthwise strips of zucchini were wonderful (used the same spices as for the chicken plus some flour). The unit does have a light to view what’s cooking and also the light comes on when you open the door.

I highly recommend this super cooking machine with all its smarts and multiple heating elements.Read More

Ever since I got on board with air frying and convection cooking, I’ve gone through a few regular air fryer’s and “toaster ovens” that is multi-functional. I have both taking up precious space on my kitchen counter, I use it that much. Unboxing this Ninja oven, my initial thought was, holy smokes, this thing is huge and it is. It almost took up the whole depth of my counter top. But my second thought was, holy smokes, I’m going to be able to cook so many more different things with this LOL. I don’t see me ever using my oven again haha. And I’m ok with that. If you’re like me and buys a lot of frozen or prepared foods from the big wholesale box stores, the Ninja Prestige is perfect for heating those up. I hated heating up my huge oven for a small tray of whatever I was feeding the family, so I usually used my toaster oven. Problem with that has always been it can be a tight fit so I would have to adjust temp and cooking time. This Ninja gave me ample space and heated up quickly so I know I’m not using as much energy. Btw, the very first thing I cooked was a 12″ pizza and it fit with ample room and cooked perfectly. I was very happy. Researching this oven, I found that what makes this oven so good is the design of the interior of the oven and the fan technology. You can set your food on different levels of the oven, press the coordinating buttons to let the oven know food is on that level and it will concentrate the heating elements to that. How awesome is that? Another feature that I’m really liking is the temperature gauge that comes with the unit. It has a holder that is magnetic which can be attached anywhere you want on the oven. You can insert the temp probe into anything your cooking and set an internal temp and the oven will shutoff when the temp is reached. Ninja made it so easy. The oven also comes with so many accessories as well. All different types of trays for different types of cooking. From air frying basket to a roasting pan and more. The only thing I’m not thrilled about is that all the controls is on the door handle. But I can understand because it’s giving me more size without making the oven even larger. I just have to be more cautious with my dirty hands when opening the oven. I gladly trade my counter top space for the functionality of this oven.Read More

  10. A truly useful kitchen appliance

We discovered how useful a countertop air fryer oven is a few years ago. My wife and I work full time from home. Back then we each had long commutes to the office. The quality of food you could cook and the time it took was a new experience. However since that time we have had two ovens fail for various reasons. One just stopped working and the other was damaged in a recent storm. Neither of these ovens were Ninja products. We have two other Ninja appliances that we use everyday. Both have features we use and they have been rock solid in their performance and value. I hope to have the same experience with the Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer. The oven comes packed very well in a large box. I was able to do the unpacking by myself. But do be careful. There is also quite a lot of packing recycling material to dispose of. This is a large oven. We placed it in our usual place that is 26” wide and 26” deep but we may relocate it. When open the door hangs past the counter. All of the controls are on the door handle. Time will tell if this is a good choice. They are easy to use and see but I have concerns about cleaning the buttons on the handle. This location does allow for a bigger door and glass. That should help make upkeep easier. The oven has 4 cooking levels on the inside. It comes with an air fryer basket, two standard wire trays, two nonstick baking pans, a roast tray to reduce smoke and a crumb tray for the bottom. With a single baking pan installed the inside dimensions are 10 ½” deep, 12 ½ wide and 7 ½ height. When in use the oven fan is loud. But not more so than the other ovens we have had. What level you place your food when following the instructions is key. Some foods cook better in the middle or bottom for example. At first I found this a little confusing but after a few meals it’s actually helpful to take the guesswork out. Of course you can still cook at any level you want. But cooking is optimized by the cooking level that they recommend. One of the great features is you can find a lot of videos on how to help you understand the best cooking methods and get some great ideas. This oven also comes with a cabled thermometer for keeping track of the cooking temperature. Ninja also sells a wireless version as an accessory. For me as a novice cooker knowing I am reaching the correct temperature is a life saver. I love that feature so much I won’t ever buy another cooking appliance that doesn’t have this feature. Our initial cooking experience has been very good. We have done our usual french fries and baked potatoes. Both were delicious. We are currently cooking a full chicken and it seems to be going great. We are still learning how to use the front panel. What level you place your food at is new. But so far we are very happy with the fryer. It might be bigger than we need but as time goes on I am sure that won’t be a problem. I do most of the household cleaning and having this big door for access is going to be very nice. I sure wish I knew how useful a countertop oven is. I would have not spent so much on my gas oven when we remodeled. We almost never use it now.Read More
