best cup of coffee in years…with Maxell House Half CAFF!

Our k-cup top of the line that has been replaced once already and upgraded because of mold issues, was a sad cup of coffee. I have been blaming the lack of “boldness” on the Half CAFF Maxwell House, my new healthy choice. Although, old and crappy good ol’ real potent BOLD blends weren’t worth the jitters for the taste either. Cheat ICE coffee and Tuxedo hots were my take out treats, jitters on my errands around Metro Atlanta happen anyway, right. So…when the machine not only gave subpar coffee but had the audacity to become “incontintent” on my counters, that was it. My adult children had gone “Ninja” after the first K-cup mold in the tank replacement scare. Had to admit their coffee was so delish, even their Cosco Decaf, but geez $150!

As I shopped for my brand name K-cup, the prices were comparable to the Ninja’s. Especially, if you want a removable water tank you can refill. I decided to just glance at the Ninja Pots and was very happy I did.
The same great model my kids have used for years, like 7 years old and like new, was on sale for $130 – a penny. I shopped the Ninja Store at Amazon, and 3 of my other favorite online discount, close out and overstock places but none could beat this model, with it’s bells and whistles or ratings. Besides, already know how to work this machine, from messing around with the kids. Know it has to brew great coffee because it makes that Cosco Decaf taste great when I hit the BOLD button. (I can pretend it’s ESPRESSO!) Having Guinea Pig Coffee Consumers was a great problem to have. I have to drink lots of water, but it feels so wonderful to have an afternoon “full” Caff espresso or one with my evening dessert as I love and really, really enjoy the flavor.

It’s a small joy, but these little things in life are special. My Great Grandfather introduced me to overly creamed and sugared coffee as a Preschool child, even putting Ice Cream in my cup sometimes, with our evening desserts. Because “that’s the way it was in the old Country”, that coffee plus Vino, anchovies and horseradish he would tease put hair on your chest. Was disappointed my curls never reached my chest. As a girl I grew out of that dream, never my love for Bold Coffee. Grew out of watered down 50 years ago, my tastebuds Thank You, Ninja

Love this Coffee Maker!!!

This is the best coffee maker I’ve ever had. I like hot coffee in the morning and iced in the late afternoon. It took some playing around with the amount of ounces of water and how many scoops but I got it right.
My coffee mug for hot coffee I set the dial to 12 ounces and put in 1 large and 1 small scoop of coffee. I then press Rich as I like rich flavor and I get a great cup of coffee.

For the afternoon iced coffee, I like to drink it in a tall cup. So I fill my cup with ice and then pour the ice into the carafe. Then I add 3 large scoops of coffee and set the water to 28 ounces. I like Cold Brew so I select that. When done I pour the ice and coffee from the carafe into my cup and have a wonderful iced coffee.

Great coffee maker!

This makes it quick and easy to make any kind of coffee you want! I love that I can make my iced coffee just as easily as my husband can make his hot coffee. The tank is large and can hold enough for multiple uses. I love that we can make coffee right into a travel mug or a carafe. With a few button presses and the turn off a knob you can choose easily how you want your coffee. It is also very easy to set the time and timer to have hot coffee ready for you when you get up!

Great coffee maker and easy to use

I received the Ninja XL coffee maker about a week ago and overall we love it. My wife is a big coffee drinker and usually has about 3-4 cups a day so this gets a good workout.

The Ninja XL is really a breeze to get started. You fill the tank with enough water for the amount of coffee you plan to make, select the amount you are making, press Classic or Rich (stronger tasting coffee), and off it goes. When Classic is selected, the coffee comes out pretty quickly. The coffee takes a little longer in Rich mode.

The iced coffee was relatively easy to make. We filled the carafe with ice and selected Classic style for the brew type and let it run. Very straight-forward. If you are making just one cup, there is pull out stand to pour directly into a cup or mug also.

One nice feature that we really liked was the ability to stop the flow at any time. Our previous coffee maker would stop when you pulled out the carafe, but some extra would always drip on the heating tray. With the slide stop on the Ninja, no coffee drips on the heating tray…much better for keeping it clean.

One of the challenges with this coffee maker is that the it doesn’t go by standard cups, and instead uses custom sizes. For example, a “Small Cup” is 8.5 oz, “Cup” is 9.5 oz, “Travel Mug” is 14 oz, etc. However, the machine shows ounces so you have to either memorize the conversion to standard cups or keep the instruction manual close by at the beginning. You get used to your normal amount pretty quickly, but need to look back at the manual when you have company for a large batch.

Overall, we really love this coffee machine. There are additional features that our old maker didn’t have, so more experimenting over the next couple of weeks. I would highly recommend this coffee maker.

Matches My Kitchen Look and Makes Great Coffee

Great if you want 1 cup or an entire carafe of coffee.

Things I like:

-The reusable mesh filter is easy to clean.
-The water storage on the side is very convenient
-The build quality and the stainless steel match my SS GE Cafe appliances
-The anti skid bottom keeps unit in place
-The clock illumination is easy to read
-Keep warm function is nice when you are doing other things and want to come back to a warm cup
-The smart scoop is cool too and it attaches to the coffee maker so you won’t loose it
-I got it to replace my wife’s tired old coffee maker
-Delay function is nice touch

Could of done better:
-More stainless steel around the coffee maker instead of black plastic.
-Included the cups shown on the box

The wife loves it. House always smells good in the morning when it is brewing. Would have liked a second permanent filter. The included carafe looks a little generic. Would of been nice if the carafe had a silicone lined bottom so it could place it on the wood table without leaving any marks.

I like that it doesn’t have touch screen buttons and that it has actual buttons.

Easiest/Cleanest way to brew cold or hot coffee

I’ve been using this coffee machine every morning for the past week or so to make myself a cup of ice coffee before I leave for work. It’s so convenient and easy to use. I really like that it has the option to make a hot brew also. I’ve been on a cold coffee binge for a while so it’s what I mainly use it for. It includes a permanent filter which I’ve been using to make my coffee. I drop in 2 scoops of my coffee grounds of choice, and then put my 20 oz travel mug in the machine with a cup full of ice to make my coffee. Iced coffee takes about a minute to brew, the cold brew option takes about 10 minutes or so to make. The iced coffee comes out so flavorful that even my gf likes it. She doesn’t really care for coffee but she’s really liked the way this machine makes my coffee. It’s also very easy to clean up. I’m not sure what you call the part, but the coffee filter sits inside of a plastic container that you can pull out when it’s time to clean it and everything stays put inside of that. So my counter or machine never get dirty with coffee or coffee grounds. The machine has various brew settings, it can brew 1 8oz cup of you want or a whole full carafe that comes included. As a coffee lover, this brewer will save me a bunch of time and money. If you love coffee, I highly recommend this machine.

Amazingly versitile

This was a huge upgrade from my Keurig. I wanted a coffee maker that brewed a single cup without using pods. I also wanted on that could brew an entire pot for weekends, when everyone was home and wanted to have coffee together. This pot of coffee does both and more. The slow brew setting my daughter loves, and iced coffee which we both enjoy. I was worried that a machine that does it all would do nothing well. I was wrong. It makes great tasting coffee in all its functions. It has a timer you can set the night before. Plus when making an entire pot you can pause the brewing in order to pour some before the brewing is complete. Despite it’s many functions it is not hard to use. While single cup is not super fast it does make a premium cup of coffee in about 3 minutes.
