Oster Classic Series 8-Speed Blender with 6-Cup Glass Jar

Oster® Classic Series 8-Speed Blender with 6-Cup Glass Jar, Gray

Customer Reviews Summary

Across roughly five hundred reviews from multiple retail sites, sentiment trends strongly positive. Owners repeatedly say the blender “works great for smoothies” and “does exactly what a basic blender should,” emphasizing dependable performance for weekday cooking at a reasonable cost. Many call it a “good value” and appreciate the glass container over plastic for feel and cleaning. A common paraphrase from buyers is that after a year or two of steady use it still starts up and blends without fuss. Praise centers on practical results rather than flashy features. Smoothies come out consistent, soups and sauces puree quickly, and ice‑crushing is achievable in sensible batches. Cleaning is straightforward because the jar and blade assembly can be taken apart, and several owners run parts through the dishwasher or do a quick soap‑and‑water self‑clean. On the other hand, the most consistent negatives are noise (some find it louder than expected), vibration or wobble at higher speeds with thicker mixes, and isolated quality‑control issues such as leaks or missing parts upon delivery.

Ease of Setup & Everyday Use

Users describe setup as plug‑and‑blend simple. The control panel offers 8 speeds plus pulse, and multiple comments note they rarely need the highest settings to get smooth results. For daily routines—morning smoothies, salsas, or pureed soups—the jar locks in easily and the blade assembly comes off for quick cleaning. Several owners specifically mention adding warm water and a drop of soap, blending for a few seconds, then rinsing as an easy shortcut between dishwasher runs.

Performance & Reliability

For typical kitchen tasks, performance is consistently strong. Reviewers highlight fast blending for fruits and vegetables, effective ice crushing in modest amounts, and reliable pureeing for sauces and soups. Long‑term notes are encouraging: a notable group reports months or even years of regular use with no real drop in performance. At the same time, there are scattered durability complaints—a handful mention smoke or a burned motor smell after tackling very thick mixtures or running at high speed for extended periods; keeping recipes reasonably thin and using pulse bursts helps avoid strain.

Design & Build Quality

Buyers like the glass jar for its heft and easy cleaning, and several call the overall build “well made” for the price. The unit isn’t oversized, and a few point out it fits under cabinets better than taller, high‑performance blenders. On the flip side, a minority dislikes the plastic base feel, and some notice wobble at higher speeds with thicker blends. Packaging‑related issues show up occasionally (for example, a broken filler cap or a missing blade assembly on arrival) and are usually resolved quickly via return or replacement.

Value for Money

If your priority is a dependable, no‑frills blender at a wallet‑friendly price, reviewers overwhelmingly feel this model delivers. Many compare it favorably to costlier brands for day‑to‑day blending and call it an easy recommendation when you don’t need premium power for nut butters or ultra‑thick smoothies. In short: strong everyday performance, straightforward reliability, and a glass container at a price most consider fair.

Customers Frequently Ask

  • Does it crush ice well?
Yes; for frappes and cold drinks it crushes ice in reasonable batches. Pushing very thick, dense recipes can strain the motor, so smaller batches and pulsing work best.
  • Is the jar glass or plastic?
It’s a glass jar, which many buyers prefer for cleaning and peace of mind.
  • How loud is it?
Several users say it’s loud, especially on higher speeds, while others consider the noise typical for blenders.
  • Is it easy to clean?
Yes. Many owners quickly disassemble the blade assembly and jar or use the soap‑and‑water self‑clean trick between dishwasher runs.
  • Can it handle nut butter or extra‑thick blends?
It’s fine for smoothies and purees, but a few users say it’s not ideal for very thick nut butters; you may want a more powerful model for that task.

Should You Buy It?

If you want an affordable, glass‑jar, 8‑speed blender that handles daily smoothies, sauces, and purees without fuss, this is a strong pick. You’ll appreciate its straightforward controls, easy cleaning, and solid results for everyday recipes. You should look elsewhere if you demand ultra‑quiet operation, intend to make thick nut butters regularly, or want premium‑class power. Pros: Reliable everyday performance for smoothies and sauces; glass jar and easy cleaning; strong value for money. Cons: Noisy on higher settings; occasional wobble, leaks, or rare out‑of‑box issues; not the best choice for ultra‑thick blends.

Best, Most Reliable Household Blender I’ve Used

Full disclosure, I’ve not used industrial, super fancy, expensive blenders. But as standard household blenders go, this is definitely the best. I only recently bought this one to replace an older model of the same blender, which only started showing some age after I used it one to two times per day for over five years. I use it to grind up hard foods like almonds in smoothies all the time and it works great.

Two things you want to keep in mind:
1. You really need to completely disassemble the blade and glass assembly to wash it after every use (not just rinse the whole thing) to keep it working well for longer. It’s not that big of a deal and it makes a huge difference in its lifespan.
2. When you need to replace the blade, which I’ve only had to do after 3 or 4 years of use, be sure to buy the Oster brand blade. I tried an off brand replacement and there was a noticeable difference, which likely put some extra wear and tear on the motor.

LOVE THIS BLENDER!!

This is my 2nd Oster blender. The first one (had it 5 yrs.) works just great. I bought this one for my husband’s house so I can make my smoothies there too.
It’s a sturdy blender made with glass – so no microplastics coming into contact with food.

What I love about it:

I like the one I bought 5 yrs ago, and I like this one even better…
Oster is a reliable brand that performs well over time.
This model IS quieter than prior models, like the customer reviews say.
Many setting options is great.

Notes on use:
> I hardly ever use the high settings. From my perspective, blending a smoothie a little longer, at a lower speed, is gentler on the blades and less noisy than the higher speeds. Perhaps the fact I use it gingerly is why it performs so well over time. So take care of your blender.

> I clean it with a brush in the sink. Once in awhile I take it apart and wash the parts individually, but in my opinion, it doesn’t need that kind of deeper cleaning that often.

> Another tip: A friend showed me how he cleans his blender and it’s brilliant – he puts hot water in with some dishsoap and blends it! Then rinse & air dry. This is probably the very best way to clean it. But if your chia seeds are stuck in there, use a sink sponge or brush.

I will never understand why people spend so much on expensive fancy blenders when Oster makes very good products that do the job just fine at a reasonable price point.

Love This Brand

My old Oster blender finally gave out after many, many years of daily use. The new one works great and I expect it will probably last just as long. In my experience, Oster makes the best blenders. This is my favorite model because of the heavy duty glass jar and sturdy base. Many other types are made of plastic or burn out after a short time. You can also find inexpensive replacement parts online if needed. Great buy!

A perfect blender!

The Oster blender is wonderful! It’s everything they say it is. It’s not very noisy unless you are chopping up ice. The directions are easily understandable, the buttons are self-explanatory, and it has such a nice big glass pitcher for all purpose uses. I love the fact that everything except the motor can go in the dishwasher. I also love the fact if something does break down parts are available. I think it’s impressive that Oster uses a quality control check in the United States. Oster has been a brand that I was impressed with for many years, and that’s why I looked at these. Even though some of the parts are made in China, the quality check in the United States sold me.

Glass jar … no leakage … not as loud as reviews stated

Glass jar … its an Oster ..
Not as loud as reviews let on. Good size … all metal gears ((no plastic)). Very well made and solid. No leakage

Its light weight duty only.

This blended it light weight duty only. Cannot blend anything heavier than kool-aid. Even with fast acting fuse protection the motor burned up while blending a smoothie. Im out $58. Replacing the brown fuse did not restore operation. I had to retrieve the old leaking Oster from the garbage can while the neighbors watched. What a shame. At first, I almost liked the new blender.
