Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Convenient and Time-Saving: Several reviewers appreciate the self-cleaning feature, which reduces the need for manual scooping and saves time. The automatic operation is particularly helpful for busy owners or those who travel frequently.
  • Odor Control: Some customers find that the litter box effectively controls odors, especially with the built-in air purifier and carbon filters. The enclosed design also helps to contain smells.
  • Easy Setup and Use: Many reviewers mention that the litter box is easy to set up and that their cats adapted to it quickly. The app connectivity and features, such as monitoring litter box usage, are also seen as beneficial.

Cons

  • Malfunctions and Reliability Issues: Numerous customers report that the litter box frequently gets stuck, jams, or malfunctions, requiring constant monitoring and manual intervention. Sensor problems, such as the weight sensor falsely detecting a cat, are also common.
  • Poor Odor Control: Several reviewers complain that the odor control is inadequate, with smells leaking from the waste drawer. Some describe the smell as being worse than a traditional litter box.
  • High Cost and Subscription Fees: Many customers feel that the litter box is overpriced, especially considering the additional costs of replacement filters, bags, and subscription fees for advanced app features. Some find the subscription model to be a "scam" and not worth the money.

If I could give this product a 0 star I would. I bought this litter box with high expectations. For that price I feel anyone would. 5 days into having it, the sensors where the litter empties out were acting up so I contacted the company where they then told me to send the old one back and they will send me a new one. I just received my new one yesterday. This one now doesn’t even work and stops spinning mid cycle, it doesn’t even dump the litter out. This company and this product sucks. For the price I would never.

This automatic litter box does great with controlling smell, my kitties appreciate that! The only reason I took 1 star away is it doesn’t work on carpet! I had to get a piece of wood to place under the box for it to work.

  5. I was skeptical but not anymore

I was very nervous when this litter box arrived and almost returned it immediately. I had come across some testing videos showing the sensors not working properly and the machine not stopping when something was in the way during cleaning. Because of that, I only did manual cleans when the cats were away instead of letting it automatically clean after every use. With two cats, though, litter would still pile up and start to smell.

At one point, I accidentally reset and linked my phone instead of my wife’s, which reset the settings and turned autoclean back on. An entire week went by with it on and during that time, the litter box performed amazingly. It sensed my cats every single time they even remotely approached it.

I’m genuinely impressed, especially considering this is PetLibro’s first-generation model. It’s both effective and safe. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for an automatic litter box. This is my first one, and I absolutely love how much easier it has made my life and how much less our house smells.

This litter box is great. It keeps itself clean after every use, and the odor control actually works! Much better than the traditional ones.
My two cats adapted quickly to the open design. The smart features are surprisingly useful and I get alerts on my phone and can track which cat used it. I do have auto feeder and water fountains for my cats and the last thing I’m worried about when I go on vacation is the litter box. Now with this automatic litter box I can be more comfortable when I’m not home for a few days!

  7. Luma Litter Box

Why on earth are the Luma automatic litter box reviews mixed with trash bags & mats?! That’s ridiculous & just wrong. I’ve had this litter box for a week & a half. I don’t feel it’s safe at all to run automatically. It freaks out constantly. My cats can jump in mid clean, that scares me. It also freaks out. I stopped running it automatically on day 3. It was non stop alerts. The app is awful! It constantly crashes or logs me out over & over. They want $200 a year to have more than one device to access the app. I would never leave my cats alone with this on automatic!! It’s probably worth it to spend a little more for the litter robot. I deeply regret getting this. I got it as a Christmas gift, so I feel stuck with it. If you run it with no cats around it works pretty well. It randomly says it’s jammed. That’s annoying. I unplug & wait. Run again. It’s annoying.

  8. Very sub par experience for the price

Unfortunately I’m writing this review as a negative experience. Having to return mine because it’s stuck in jammed mode no matter what I do. The only way it works is with little to no litter in it. Once I fill it even to minimum it will jam in its clean cycle.

Other the the physical problems I wanted to mention the scam of a subscription that petlibro has. If you want to have more than one pet on the app 139 a year. Then on top of that 139 if you want video recording and ai function, at least another 139. So for a fully functional experience we’re talking another 300 on top of the 600 you already paid. The ai isn’t even worth it, it never got the waste correct. Literally every single time it would say poop when the cat peed or vise versa… just a very poor experience for such an expensive subscription.
Definitely not worth the cost in my opinion.

Love the built, open top for my big cat and the simple system that works reliably. The only problem is the weighing system on the app. doesn’t work too good. They need to improve on that.
