Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
  • Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
  • Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.

Cons

  • Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
  • Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
  • Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

    Very large and bulky.
Started to clean while my cat was in the box. Did not clean very well and I used a great clumping liter. My cat did not like it. Returned item.

I have had this box for a week and it keeps jamming and won’t work. It is a piece of crap!!!!! Way too much money for the quality of the rake and motor.

Great concept. Good design. Typical high quality as expected from PetSafe…but…the rake pushed clumped litter and poop to the collection bin as supposed to. However, small pieces of litter and poop fall through the rake or get stuck to the rake. This leftover junk often gets pulled back to the opposite end of the pan when the cleaning cycle is ending. I wanted to love this. It’s so much easier and cheaper than a unit that turns. But it just doesn’t clean the litter as you would expect. Too many small pieces get left over with multiple types of clumping litter. It’s loud as some folks have stated, but noise is to be expected. Noise didn’t bother either cat. There is some litter tracking but it’s litter…cats make messes with litter no matter what. PetSafe…fix the issues with the rake and this will be perfect.

I liked this to begin with but over the last week it started to become misaligned and now it is stuck. I have gone through the product support online with no resolution. When calling customer service no one answers or I am placed on hold and disconnected. Horrible customer service and I am stuck with a $300 broken liter box

I woke up and heard the box cycling, and then realized it wasn’t stopping. Checking on the box it’s trying to work but it seems jammed, and looking more around it, taking off the door to see if theres any dirt etc. my only guess is that since everything i can see is plastic except the rake, something internally has broken which is probably plastic and I only bought it at the end of October, Mid January now and it’s a litter box, it pretty much just sits there.

  6. cheap poorly designed plastic bags tear can’t open drawer

i don’t know why i bought this based on the reviews i should have stayed away. plastic is cheap i can’t open drawers unless i brute force pull which throws the litter out 5 ft away. plastic drawer is stuck. to make design better it has these dimples to tear the bag out so that you can spill the cats stuff all over the house on the way to garbage. once you managed to open the drawer good luck closing it.

  7. Litter box scoops itself

Like it scoops itself. Dislike how it’s made. My cat pees on the top that you have to get the bag out of tray a d the pee goes in the sides of it and pee goes on the floor. I think you could of put the tray under the litter box and make a carpartment to open on the back to scoop under instead of over. It also scoops too much litter.

  8. You will spend more time making this litterbox work than if you just changed the litter yourself

    Nerak09 January 14, 2025
    Review source: Amazon

Routinely requires extensive cleaning; manufacturer recommends getting canned air and rubbing alcohol products IN ADDITION to the litterbox to clean equipment roller tracks and sensors. And not just every once-in-a-while but every few days the litterbox sensors and the metal cleaning rake and its track require cleaning. It works and my cats use it, but it does NOT work well. Rather than being a time-saver and providing a nice clean box for the cats to use it is a major time commitment for the owner.

  9. breaks easily

i’ve had this thing for less than two months and it breaks about once a week. the track gets stuck, the rake doesn’t work, and stuff gets stuck on the wrong side of the rake every time. the only thing the rake is good at is getting litter outside of the box. litter almost always ends up in the disposal area, meaning it wastes pounds of litter every week. i went from buying a box of litter twice a month to once a week. it also propels dust into the air every time it does actually work. not worth it.

  10. Better than scooping but there are better products out there

Has been useful, but extremely loud and breaks down fairly often. Even when it’s working properly, we have to unplug it at night so that it doesn’t wake us up. There are higher rated options out there, will probably try a few of those to see if we can find something we’re more satisfied with.
