Pros & Cons
Pros
- Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
- Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
- Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.
Cons
- Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
- Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
- Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

Constant issues, but also the only box large enough.
Bekah November 17, 2024Review source: AmazonI’ve got two large cats, both are Maine coon mixes, one is 17lbs the other is 12 and unfortunately this is the only litter box large enough that’s currently on the market. This thing worked okay for the first two months then the rake started getting stuck on the return and making a loud popping noise. Turned out to be two plastic tabs that “reset” the rake into an upright position at the back of the box (totally pointless because the angle at the back of the track does that anyway), after removing those the box worked but much slower than previously. The rake getting stuck on the tabs caused the motor to wear a bit I think. Fast forward to about 8 months in and it’s continued to slow down and now actually gets stuck because of the weight of the litter (I’m filling to the lowest line with fresh step clumping litter). I’m not happy that I’ll have to purchase another one of these poorly made boxes for the high price they cost just because it’s the one freaking box that fits large cats.
What I can say for certain is that I’ll be trying to find a replacement motor first, and if that fails I’ll be ordering a second one of these but ripping out those stupid tabs before I do anything else.
Three things they need to fix for the next generation of this box are:
1. Remove the stupid tabs that burn out the motor.
2. Get a better motor that can handle clay clumping litter.
3. Design a better rake that has a honeycomb pattern so less crumble stays in the clean litter. -
Keeps getting stuck
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Christian fox November 10, 2024Review source: AmazonOnly had this litter box for 6 months and it keeps getting stuck at the end of the scoop cycle. We’ve taken it apart and fixed it multiple times and everytime we put it back together it will work for a day or two and then get stuck again.

Works, but also a bit of a nightmare.
Caterinka P. November 9, 2024Review source: AmazonI have a 21-year-old cat who loved her Litter Robot, but it died way past its warranty, and I needed a replacement quickly. I went out and bought this. Clumping litter turns into mud at the bottom of the tray because the rake doesn’t go all the way to the bottom of the pan. It works better with the crystal litter from PetSafe (which smells better than regular litter.)
My biggest problem with this is the noise. This thing is LOUD! It also makes crunching sounds with regular clumping litter or crystal litter. I understand the physics of why this happens, as oppose to a rotating litter bot, but I’m wishing I’d gotten a temporary replacement and ordered a new but even more expensive Litter Robot. -

Doesn’t work
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.V. Mitchell October 21, 2024Review source: AmazonI keep chasing the original automatic cat litter box I bought years and years ago. I bought this one to replace it but it broke quickly. Just using it as an overpriced cat litter box I need to scoop out the old fashioned way now.

Effective
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Ericka October 18, 2024Review source: AmazonIt’s bigger then I pictured so make sure you got room for it. Controls the smell and maintenance is easy for it. Unfortunately it does collect waste at the the opposite end from where the waste bin is. Anything that slips past on the first raking ends up caught in the metal rake at the starting point. Overall a great product tho.

Waste compartment is left half open.
Lee Reid October 16, 2024Review source: AmazonThis is our second of this litter box, we had the first one for about four years and it worked very well. However this one hasn’t worked right since we got it. The lid to the waste compartment is left half open most times. Sometimes it just doesn’t work and I have to push the button to clean the litter. We will be looking for a better replacement.
