Pros & Cons
Pros
- Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
- Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
- Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.
Cons
- Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
- Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
- Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

It's okay
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Lindy Hughes January 5, 2026Review source: AmazonIt works, but I have yet to find a litter that doesn’t turn pee into a hard clay that stops the machine. And somehow the bag always is wet with pee. It takes as much work as a regular litter box.

Petsafe customer service is subpar
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Valli Hildebrand January 2, 2026Review source: AmazonThis product lasted 15 months and the motor is going out. Called petsafe to see if I could buy a new motor and they do not sell replacement parts. Because it is out of warranty they suggested I just purchase a new one. After speaking to a manager all they would do is offer me a $50 discount and free shipping. Sorry I am not in the habit of blowing $300 on a product that works great until warranty expires then dies. Horrible customer service by Petsafe.

Broke in less than a year.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.G. Ricci December 25, 2025Review source: AmazonAt first the cat box worked well except for the noise. Then came the banging noise. One day it stopped working and while I was trying to figure out what was wrong, I dropped it about a foot to the floor. It started working again, for a while. When it stopped again, we contacted the company and they replaced it for free.
The new one worked fine with two cats and then it started making the clunking noise again. It sounds like a plastic drive belt slipping on a plastic cog. It finally kept stalling. I removed the scraper to see if the small amount of litter was stopping it. It still stalled.
We were never able to fill the litter to the fill line. That made it stall when brand new. We are using the crystal litter.
We have since gone back to a unit we previously had but thought this would be an upgrade. Not so, in this case. -
Literally wore out/used up first one of these and liked enough to order second one.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.lovesherAchmed November 29, 2025Review source: AmazonThis is my second time purchasing this cat litter box. Literally wore out the first one after 2 years of use. Like the self raking/cleaning and size of used litter bin so doy not have to empty every day. Could go about 3 days before needing to empty bin with two cats using the litter box. Only flaw/problem is the rake could stand to go a bit deeper to rake bottom where wet litter from urine stuck to bottom of tray. Rake just glided over stuck wet litter without moving it along to empty in used litter bin. Would have to scrape litter where urine stuck to tray even though using Arm & Hammer Slide cat litter with “slide” feature that was suppose to keep litter from adhering to bottom of litter pan. Worked great on raking feces out. Also it took much longer than needed to detect cat was out of litter box to start the rake in motion. Could be a tad shorter on wait time to start rake function. Was wanting this self cleaning litter box to clean feces out of box to keep dog from getting into box before I could get to it. It is fairly quiet since it is down in lower level of house and don’t here it while up in main living area.

Bad rake system.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Lea Siltberg November 29, 2025Review source: AmazonThis litter box only works for about 3 days. The rake got stuck multiple times, and it did not work. I finally gave up and have been using it as a regular litter box.

Just save your money and get a litter robot by whiskers!!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Sky November 22, 2025Review source: AmazonI’m not gonna give this a one star because it does work but it needs absolutely constant maintenance. I have a little robot four which I absolutely am obsessed with. But I wanted maybe another kind of lower end one that would help with the amount of cats that I have. I absolutely advise to just save your money and get a litter robot. If you’re gonna spend this amount of money on an automatic litter robot, I would definitely not get this one in particular. Even the lower one under this that has the throwaway tray works really well for one of my cats.
It absolutely does not hide any smells even if it’s going into that little chamber drawer and by the way, I know I have a lot of cats, but it gets filled up really fast really really really fast. I wish that the rake was the same rake as the one on the lower version of this because I didn’t have as many issues with that one. And this thing is freaking loud like really loud.
I feel really bad saying this about a company that is trying so hard to make our lives easier, but I wish they would upgrade this and make it work better.
So I guess with that, I will say save your money and try to get a litter robot four. They sell them on here and you can do payments with affirm.

Pros and cons
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.J. Temple November 21, 2025Review source: AmazonHas it’s faults. Other reviews say it wastes clean litter. It does. It somehow rakes clean litter into the waste bin, causing it to fill up before it should, which is annoying. I don’t have a problem w/the noise level, but im never in the same room w/it. When the waste bin lid falls closed, you hear it. When the motor’s running, you hear it. However, I don’t find it disruptive. Some say it leaks on the floor, this is a user error. You MUST make sure the lip of the waste bin is UNDER the lip of the litter box.
PROS. I love being able to use regular clumping litter. This is the main reason I chose this model. The waste bin also fits small trash bags. So no special litter or liners required. Safety! Never felt unsafe for my cat. It senses when they’re in there and waits 10 minutes before raking/scooping. Biggest thing is, I’ve owned this box for about 3-4 years now and it’s still going strong! It can be temperamental. For instance, people complain the rake gets stuck…It will, if you use too much litter. Fill a little light and no problem.
Overall, it’s a decent litter box and the price is reasonable. While I hate wasted litter, I hate manually scooping even more.
