Doesn’t last w/clumping litter

Only one cat used this box, and it was cleaned weekly to bi-weekly. I did switch back to a crystal litter but I think it was too late, and it’s not going to be easy to take apart and clean the grate motor system. Now it sits unplugged with the grate removed and I’m using it as a normal litter box a year later, which was not the point of purchasing this product. I will say, I also have the normal PetSafe crystal litter self cleaning box and I have had zero issues with it. Plus the crystal litter doesn’t have the same odor as typical clay litter does. So if you’re going to spend money on a PetSafe self cleaning box, DO NOT get this one.

Rake stopped working after 18 months

I purchased this model 18 months ago and the rake stopped working. I called the manufacturer and reported the problem. They directed me to troubleshoot by cleaning the sensors and track but nothing solved it. The light is working but the rake won’t move. The only thing they would do for me is a discounted replacement model. I do not have the money to replace it, nor do I have confidence that it will last. I would not recommend this product unless you don’t mind buying a new one every 18 months.

I had the original pet safe crystal litter litterbox but buying 2 different litters was annoying. This box sucks. Rakes always off track and it’s always flashing error leds and shuts down. It is loud, not dependable and a nuisance to own.
