Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
  • Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
  • Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.

Cons

  • Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
  • Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
  • Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

  1. Different but fine

Because I couldn’t get the ones we know well Littermaid and Nature Maide, we ordered this one. It calls for clumping litter but we changed to non clumping because the cats refuse to use the cat litter box at all. After we changed the litter they started using it. This litterbox is different but I had no choice. For now it works.

Extremely loud and messy. Wastes tons of litter so you’re constantly having to refill. Does not cleanly or neatly handle wet litter. Absolutely worst self-cleaning litter box I’ve ever purchased. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

  4. Surprisingly great! Greater for large cats and elderly cats

I was dubious about this, but took the leap and bought it.

It works really well. You just need to perfect the litter level so the motor can handle that weight, and so that you are wasting extra litter than necessary. Once you find the balance, it works great.

I bought a litter Robot 3 years ago and still works, but my elderly foster cat wont use it, it is to difficult for him to navigate. Once this product came out (that can take any litter, not just ridiculous crystals), I jumped at it.

My elderly cat has kidney issues, so he pees a lot, and I was sick of cleaning a separate litter multi-times a day. This thing has perfectly solved the issue. He took two days to get used to it, and then I could remove the older litter box with no worries. He loves it.

PetSafe -minor improvements on new model would make this thing perfect—
Only things I would improve, one, is a better-sealed compartment with carbon filter option, still pretty well sealed, but can be improved. Two, I would also advise PetSafe to create a little step attachment, just two inch high and maybe 5 inches long, that ramps down on the exterior side to.5 inch, for the front os the device, so it is even easier for older cars to get in. My cat can get in, but it is still a little of a struggle. The devices’ step is way better than the litter robot though, much easier for older cats, and the litter robot step attachment is too cumbersome and large and protrudes out way too far. Take note PetSafe. Three, the whole thing should be 3 inches wider, the actual litter box area, and 5 inches longer. Big cats still have a little trouble finding a good position without peeing on the side of the device which is not ideal for the automatic sift function.

No major complaints, and the sensor is way more consistent than the sensor in the litter robot. This was a real surprise, and a happy one. I have not once had to manually trigger a cycle yet. Wheres as the Litter Robot needs manually triggering all the time, even when litter leave and all else is perfect.

I will stick with this brand now, way cheaper than litter robot, and I will be look forward to improved models.

  5. Nobody has to clean the catbox.

    Robert December 18, 2023

This thing is awesome. Cat uses the box. Box WAITS for long enough for the litter to clump and then it just cleans itself out.
*Make sure you don’t overfill the machine* or it will not operate. The overwork makes it abort.

  8. Smell is gone..

I would recommend this completely… Yes you can hear it when it is running but unless you are super sensitive to sounds it is no different than hearing your toilet flush.. I have only one cat, not sure about a multiple cat household. If you dump the poop bin once a day it should be good, however if you forget it’s no biggie… I have gone 3 days without dumping the bin, still no smell.. I am very happy with ours, hope it last a long time..

  9. Only made the clean up worse.

I was so hopeful about this product but it’s a no form me. Normally we have to scoop the old litter box every two days, and replenish it with new litter every other week, but this litter box is all that work but now we also have to clean more parts. Honestly it made a 5 minute chore turn into a 20 minute ordeal. Traditional litter box is the way to go.

  10. Excellent upgrade

I’ve used the Petsafe Crystal Litter boxes for years. (I had 3) But crystal litter is literally disgusting, expensive, hard to find, and bad bad bad!
So glad Petsafe finally came out with the clay litter version. Many of the upgrades are perfect.
    1. Size of used litter receptacle is great
    2. Removable grate is easy to clean
    3. Tray is permanent & not an extra expense
    4. More silent
    5. Bigger potty area
But $300 bucks? I literally had to use Amazon’s payment plan or I could have never been able to afford them, and I could only afford two.
I know Litter Robots are disgustingly overpriced and obnoxiously overrated and horrific eyesores, but $300 still seems high.
