Pros & Cons
Pros
- Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
- Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
- Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.
Cons
- Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
- Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
- Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

Not perfect
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Ashley November 19, 2023Review source: AmazonAs other reviewers have mentioned, this litter box is large and loud. It also wastes a lot of litter: somehow, it scoops a lot of unused, unclumped litter into the bin (and the floor under the box). Overall I like it, but I wish I could solve the litter wasting issue!

Works for us!
Lena S. November 14, 2023Review source: AmazonThis box works great for me and my cats. I would consider it to be a basic automatic box. There’s no wifi, doesn’t have a ton of other sensors to worry about giving false errors etc.
If your cats pee high or on the walls of litter boxes OR are prone to loose or soft poop, I unfortunately don’t think this would work for you. The seams would make the urine leak onto the floor, and the soft/runny poop would just get all broken/mashed up and stick to the rake.
Size 3/5
The litter box itself is pretty bulky, it measures 21.1″ x 10.7″ x 29.0″.
Dirty Litter Bin
15″ x 4″ x 7″Usable Tray Area Size
15″ x 14 3/4″. Holds 1 1/3″ to 2″ of litterPower Cord Length 5/5
119″ (just under 10′)Scooping Rake 4/5
Something that’s a plus for this model is that the rake can be easily removed for cleaning when needed. Whereas the former rakes on the crystal litter boxes could not. There is a flap on the litter box on either side of the rake that you lift up to access knobs. Turn both knobs and you can then remove the rake.
10-minute Timer 4/5
After the box is used the light will flash. After 10 minutes the rake will slide down once and back to its resting positing. This takes 2 minutes from start to finish (it’s in no way as fast as the companies edited videos show.).I do wish this box had the option of changing the timer like the crystal boxes. As some brands of clumping litter take a bit longer to firm/dry up than others.
No Counter
This model does not have a display for the number of uses like the crystal litter boxes do. I missed that at first, but now not so much.I’d recommend getting it from Amazon. As this is a newer release people are confusing it for one of the crystal ones, pet store employees included. So with doing a pay online pick up in store you may end up paying for the Clumping box but end up with a crystal box instead.
Dirty Litter Bin 4/5
About 15″ x 4″ x 7″. Can be lined with 8 to 10 gallon bags, but you’ll get the joy of looking at a section of the bag.Clean Litter Tray 4/5
It holds roughly 1 1/3″ to 2″ of litter. The lower it gets to the first line (or below), the more likely urine will be to stick to the bottom of the tray.If you overfill the tray, this can cause the litter/poop to make the sensors think there’s a cat in the box and it will stop the rake in the middle of cleaning.

Just okay
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Mindy Sze November 13, 2023Review source: AmazonSometime, we overcomplicate things. At first, I was attracted to the fanciness of this automatic kitty litter… but ultimately is it really a big deal to just scoop the thing every other day? I have found myself going back to the latter even after being excited about this device.
The litter box mostly does what is promised – it has a comb / rake effectively that pushes out all of the turds / pee blobs. And that works okay. But it’s also VERY LOUD. It also wastes a lot of litter in this process (litter that a gentle shake of a scoop would save). And it seems to miss stuff in the corners and on the bottom. It also does work with any kind of liner or box if you want to preserve your litter box.
Ultimately it was an experiment that didn’t really pay dividends for us or our kitty.

Does the deed
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Jessica D. November 9, 2023Review source: AmazonIm a first time cat owner and the litter box was more work than I anticipated. Wanted something that would use clumping litter so I gave this a go. I use Arm&Hammer clumping litter and it works well. It is loud so you wont want this near where you sleep. There is a pop when it’s scooping that could wake the dead. But it does the job.
Definitely a must for cat owners. -
Works well for one cat
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.KittyGlitter =^•^= November 3, 2023Review source: AmazonI’ve had several iterations of this brand of automatic litter box and this one is by far the best! It’s been years since I’ve owned one because I was so annoyed with the previous versions, but I decided to give this one a try for a kitty that predominantly spends most of her time in a giant custom condo because she’s too nervous around a few of our other kitties, and will literally scare the poo out of her. It was cumbersome to crawl in the condo and scoop a few times a day.
It’s large and takes up most of the floor space on the bottom level, but she doesn’t spend much time down there anyway since it puts her closer to the other kitties. However, it takes up way less space overall than the big rotating style litter robots.
The way it scoops into the bin is so much better than it used to be, it has a tray that it scrapes the clumps into. I use off-brand PetKit liners with it and empty it once a week. I started using small VanNess liners but even though they were small and fit, they had too much plastic that bunched up and made it hard to slide the collection tray back into its spot. The PetKit shaped ones are tall and narrow, they fit perfectly without the excess bunching up.
The box’s operation is fairly loud and really slow, but I appreciate that that it’s motor is strong (because it didn’t used to be and would get hung up all the time) and takes its time to scrape through the litter to remove the clumps. I do have one issue after changing the litter where it will get hung up and bogged down dragging too much litter back with it so that it can’t seat properly, even with the proper litter volume between the min and max markings on the sides. I have to crawl in there and scape it out with a manual scoop and hit the button on the back so it resets. But I think it’s more of an issue with the litter I use versus the box itself. I use Okocat soft clumping wood litter, so I think it’s just too “fluffy” to sift through at first. Once there’s less litter in the box from clumps being dragged into bin, it works just fine.
One thing to note when cleaning, if I let the bin fill up too much before emptying it, it will make a mess on the floor as I pull the bin out. But that’s my own fault for letting it get too full. I also keep it on a honeycomb style litter mat so it’s easy to pull the mat out and dump the excess litter back in the pan.
I’d like to get another one for an elderly cat that keeps to himself in our bedroom most of the time, and has his own litter box in our master bath. However, he’s goes at the ends of the litter box, 90% of the time at the end where the rake rests so I worry about it getting clogged up and unable to move. Also at the time of review there was not a privacy cover available for it. Which I’d like one for my anxious girl.
Unlike other reviews I haven’t had any issues with it binding up or leaking, though the way my old boy pees on the side, if he goes near the collection tray, I could totally see it making a mess underneath. But I already keep puppy pads under his litter box for side leaks between the cover. It appears I’m lucky with mine, my girl is petite and goes potty right in the middle so I don’t have to worry about leaks. She also has stiff poo that I often have to give her Miralax, so I don’t have to worry about loose stools making a mess on the rake. (that was an issue with the boxes like this we had before with other cats, so I’m sympathetic) She’s the perfect cat for this litter box.

Good but not perfect.

Mixed Feelings Poor Company Policy
jes1 October 26, 2023Review source: AmazonPurchased the newest version of the PETSAFE Litter Box this month. Unit works a lot better than the original model. The only thing is you can plan n emptying the tray in 3 to 4 days, if your cat goes as often as mine. Try 7 days and had an absolute mess. Cat likes it and it works as advertised. My biggest complaint is PETSAFE’s policy on registering the warranty. There are no clear cut instructions for the warranty procedures. I was having printer problems and copies my invoice from AMAZON and pasted it to a word document and emailed it to PETSAFE. With the order number, price and my information and they were not going to register the litter box. I finally had to get a Supervisor on the phone and argue that they had all of the information and she still was going to register it, until I said I was going to write negative review. She did register it at that point, but the CUSTOMER should not have that kind of issue. I hope if I have a warranty issue it not this kind of hassle to have it taken care. Bottom line, I would purchase this PETSAFE Litter Box again.

It’s an ok litter box.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Mare October 24, 2023Review source: AmazonMy cats love the litter box. But it doesn’t work as good as the older one I have. It’s loud when it cleans and it scoops too much of the litter into waste receptacle. So I go through way more litter than my old one. Wasn’t worth the money to me.

Its… ok
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.D October 14, 2023Review source: AmazonNot very impressed for the price. Its not bad, but not great.
Pros;
– looks nice
– can use any clumping litter
– waste receptacle is a very good size if you have multiple cats (5stars if i could just rate the receptacle)
-rake is super easy to remove for cleaning
– rake gets completely out of the way so the cats can have access to every inch of the litterboxCons;
– odor control is absolutely awful. My Littermaid did an amazing job compared to this.
– takes easily 3-4 minutes to run a single cleaning cycle
– its very first cleaning cycle failed during a TEST run with nothing in it (has worked fine since)
– its quite bulky so you need a good amount of space for it
– its cleaning cycle is quite noisyTo those who already own one or are buying one, the leos loo too receptacle liners work quite well for this litterbox.

Wonderful
Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Cat Scanned October 11, 2023Review source: AmazonThis litterbox is awesome. It has cut the scooping time down to emptying just a bin. The cats watch it after 10 minutes. You have to use the right litter. I found that Hyvee Paws scented or unscented clumping lotter works great. It’s a very fine granulated litter and it goes through the stopper really well so you don’t have much litter in the waste bin. Overall, my cats and I are highly satisfied… they enjoy clean litter and I enjoy not scooping it. A good product.
