Pros & Cons
Pros
- Odor Control: Several reviewers highlight the litter box's ability to control odors, especially when used with appropriate clumping litter. Some reviewers mention that they no longer notice any litter box smell in their homes.
- Cat Acceptance: Many cats readily accepted and used the litter box, with some even enjoying watching the cleaning process. Some reviewers noted that their cats preferred this box over other automatic models.
- Convenience: Customers appreciate the convenience of automatic scooping, which reduces the time and effort required for litter box maintenance. The easy-to-remove waste drawer is also frequently mentioned as a positive feature.
Cons
- Reliability Issues: A significant number of reviewers report that the litter box stopped working or experienced mechanical failures (such as the rake getting stuck) within a few months of purchase. Some reviewers mention that the plastic parts are prone to breaking.
- Noise Level: Many reviewers describe the litter box as loud or noisy during operation, which can be disruptive, especially in smaller living spaces or at night. The noise is often attributed to the motor or the rake scraping against the box.
- Ineffective Cleaning: Several reviewers note that the rake does not effectively clean the litter box, leaving waste behind or pushing clean litter into the waste bin. Some mention that the rake doesn't reach the bottom of the pan, leading to a build-up of soiled litter.

Not the best choice
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Susan Magee July 5, 2025Review source: AmazonThe litter box was loud when running. My timid cat was scared of it. The motor stopped working a couple of months after we got it. Evidently using crystal litter was not a good idea. I do not recommend this litter box.

Worth it!!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Richard Ruddle July 4, 2025Review source: AmazonThese are fantastic! Cuts down on time spent cleaning. And the higher walls help reduce the amount of dust created from most litters. After purchasing one for my house I’ve already bought them as gifts for other friends and family with cats!

PetSafe customer service save.
Mamabear July 4, 2025Review source: AmazonI didn’t have a problem transitioning my cat to this litter box since I used litter that she had used but was clump free, so it already smelled like her. The rake interested her for the first few days, but never bothered her. When a part of it was broken by my husband unsticking it in a manly way I called PetSafes customer service and they sent me a new box in a day. I’m very happy with both the box and the customer service.

Finally figured it out
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.resistant ♏rev.i 🔯⛎ew Uer July 4, 2025Review source: AmazonI can’t find the button to test the rake. The url you are supposed to go to to get help does not exist. No customer support. This is very large. make sure it will fit in the spae you want to put it in. I don’t want to have it available for the at until I test it but I can’t test it.
I kept working at it and figured some things out.
1. I don’t know why it didn’t work the first several times I tried it, but eventually the button that seemed to be the obvious test button actually was the test button and now works fine.
The drawer is very difficult to pull out. I used the old-fashioned remedy, I rubbed it with a bar of soap. That helped a great deal. Then I used the plastic liners that came with it (I bought the package that included the cover and the bags) and that also helped. To use the cover you have to pop out some small plastic pieces. It takes about 10 minutes to get each one out. So far I got 3 out. I may eventually get the last one out but it works with the 2 that are in the front out. That seems to be enough to hold the cover.
I like that I can use clumping litter. It takes a bit of effort but eventually it will make your life a little easier I think.

Scooping mechanism
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Lani June 24, 2025Review source: AmazonNo matter which litter I use it gets stuck on the scooping mechanism. Had to clean it 3-4 times a week. Litter also gets in the tracks and slows the scooping process. I am returning this because of these issues.

Do not buy
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Kerri Sumner June 22, 2025Review source: AmazonReceived this litterbox and thought it was going to be great. It worked for two days and stopped taking properly. Got stuck and the troubleshooting I’ve found so far has not been helpful.

Litter holder drawer doesn't work!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Ladydi June 21, 2025Review source: AmazonLet me first say that I have used a Petsafe litter box for five years with no problems but I was trying to find one that I didn’t have to lift up since I am very old now. I settled on a newer version with the drawer in front. Firstly, the drawer never would fit into the slot and I had to hit it to get it in (was worse if I used the plastic bags). The other problem was that it got litter crystals under the unit when it was raking. I think because the drawer didn’t fit easily or well. I used it for six months and finally had to give up. I wish I had kept my original box but now have to buy another one.

Don't buy it!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Amazon Customer June 18, 2025Review source: AmazonWorst investment ever. I used one with the tray for a siamese for many years, then I got it again with new cats, 1 that will not use any robotic one. He wasn’t thrilled with the tray litter, so I tossed that and got one that used high quality clumping litter. It is the worse thing. It pushes the litter into the receptacle, with the fences clumps building up behind the rake! 500$ + wasted between these two. Going back for traditional box. Ps my 1 boy did love it but within 2 days the litter was pushed out!

Total junk!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Tim & Holly Bouma June 17, 2025Review source: AmazonPiece of junk. I bought this in March and it completely died in May. Clunky, noisy, and frequently gets mess caught in the rake. Makes a huge mess in the Litter bin and wastes a lot of litter when scraping. Don’t waste your money.
